Yeah, tacos weren't that good. Had tripa, lengua, buche, and asada and all were below average. All lacked flavor and texture. Salsa also were bland and not spicy. The asada is almost like grinded, reminds me of an Al-Rico taco. It also has this off-putting smoky taste to it. Also, they wrapped two tacos in foil and with the steam inside that package cause both tacos to fall apart the second you grab it. It was a mess. Just put them in container. Grilled chicken Torta ordered and shrimp cocktail with extra hot sauce ordered. Light on oil. The worker said it would be ready in 8 minutes. We went to get it. Arrived and it's a warm restaurant. Clean, safe and practiced. The order was ready and the worker was nice! Lunchtime! Got everything set up. Split evenly. Wow! Absolutely delicious, fresh and tasty shrimp cocktail! Flavorful! Love! It gets better! The chicken torta half was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Not oily. Chicken tasted really delicious with the fresh veggies, hot sauce and bread! Great hot sauce too! This place is still my favorite after all these years. Got a chorizo breakfast burrito last weekend and was reminded how great the food is. It was $11 for two burritos, each with chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and cheese, plus their delicious salsa that I could drink because it's so good. My favorite thing about them is their consistency though. I have come at all random times during their open hours and I always get amazing food that isn't vastly different from the last time I had it. The staff is nice. The food comes out and looks good. The carnitas tacos with rice and beans looks goo but the taste was not good at all the meat was off somehow. I took 1 bite and didnt eat nothing more and the Caldo de Res had no flavor at all and didnt look that great. We just got up and left everything on the table. Very disappointing! I've been going to this gem for years! But today has definitely put a fork in that because I am so done! I sent my two son's in. (Their first time ever doing anything like this, as a teaching moment.) Gave them something easy, order 7 bacon breakfast burritos (our family's favorite) and a $100 bill to pay for it. When my son's came back they said everything went well, had the food and change in hand. I counted the change $58 with a badly ripped $10. I was going to continue home w the raggedy $10 but then he told me the lady gave no receipt. I believe because of the person she is, she gave that to my son on purpose thinking he wouldn't make it an issue. But that's when we returned. I had to explain to my kids that w/o a receipt a person can charge you any amount they want, and still give the restaurant what they are owed but pocket the rest. Seems like exactly what is happening!! But you be the judge. He went in and asked for one and was verbally told "I charged you $6 each burrito." The receipt he came back with said his change was shorted .36 cents. See pictures. I went in and this "Bape" was rude and arrogant that's what her hat said, and I called her by it but she got offended when I did. She literally punched in random numbers in her machine and said you're right the burritos would be 6.27 each lol, I am not in here because you charged me too little!! The menu said 5.79 and She began telling me if I know that 6x7=42. (I'm a nurse.) the receipt she gave my son first has taxes which she said were wrong so I guess that's her reasoning why she didn't give my son's all the change he was due. She was saying taxes are up so that's why but the receipt she wrote has no taxes at all. Ultimately the burritos had 4 different prices, 5.49 on our receipt, 6.27 on her register, 5.79 on the menu, then $6 on a receipt she sarcastically wrote out for us. Do you know the IRS May be interested that you are making up a .50 cent tax on each burrito you sell? It's sad the dad has made this business what it is and may be handing it off to you one day. You definitely need to grow up, learn how to be professional and learn customer service! The right things to do would've been explaining to us why the receipt was "wrong" by your twisted definition, still given us the .36 cent that were due to us and get your machines fixed/replaced. There is absolutely no way you were right in anything you said or did. We will not be back, lost a loyal customer, with a big family !!! read more

This is, I think, my favorite taqueria. All of the meats are always good cuts, no fat, just the meat. Good quality chicken, pork and beef which is important to me. Fresh vegetables. Simple salsa bar with a red and green, pickled jalepenos/ carrots/ onion/ cauliflower, cabbage, and limes. Simple but very very tasty. I have been told that his home made pickles I just mentioned are the best in town, and I believe it. The owner is usually taking the order and also helping in kitchen. Very pleasant man, proud of his home country of Guadalajara, an area of which his restaurant is named after. There is always a soccer game on the TV. This is a modest place, but clean and authentic. My go to order in the weekends is the Machaca breakfast burrito. Chicken burrito is another favorite. Lately I've been enjoying his Al Pastor Tortas and his Chile rellenos. I have not had a poorly prepared item here. Always consistent, mainly because the owner is always here making sure everything is done right. I just love this place, and I have honestly eaten almost everywhere in Fresno. The owner ran out to the parking lot to hand me my flour tortillas that I forgot on the counter one time. They offer a full line of authentic Central American soups which I see being ordered a lot but have not tried. I highly reccomend this joint. read more

Who can really pass up on a $3 breakfast burrito? My SO and I stayed in a hotel nearby for our mini weekend getaway and wanted a hearty breakfast burrito. This was walking distance. Best breakfast burritos I have found in Fresno for my taste. I always get bacon for me and chorizo with beans for my girl. The green salsa is amazing and can't be beat. I read some of the reviews on here of people complaining about bad customer service or no beans in their burrito. I've never had a bad experience with customer service. Among the best breakfast burritos in the Fresno area, also with authentic Guadalajara flavors on the menu, plus items to please a more American palate, with plenty of spicy stuff if you want to add some. The breakfast burritos: They manage to pack a ton of great flavors and textures in, without being too greasy. If you haven't had a lot of more authentic Mexican food, be sure and try the machaca (shredded beef with onions and peppers) breakfast burrito. Their machaca is very tender, and packed with great flavor (it has a really good extra seasoning/flavor I haven't tasted in machaca before, which I'm still trying to figure out). With the fluffy eggs, hot potato, and some salsa, it's totally craveable. The tortas: Again, if you've only experienced less authentic Mexican food and tortas aren't on your radar, it's time to branch out. It's basically a Mexican panini, with a special bread packed with Mexican flavors you'll recognize and enjoy. Their standard torta is above average, and benefits from their flavorful meat. But . . . that's not the torta they're know for . . . THE TORTAS AHOGADS DE GUADALAJARA: This is definitely not entry-level authentic Mexican food, but it's really what puts this place on the map. Instead of the customary grilled/pressed torta, this authentic beast is filled with roasted pork and onions, and smothered in a spicy red chili sauce. You can try to eat it with your hands, but it truly requires a knife and fork (thankfully they give you metal silverware!). Not what I'm always in the mood for when I feel like a torta, but definitely worth trying, to expand your Mexican flavor experiences! Very flavorful, and very filling. The salsas: They have a well stocked salsa bar, which you would expect, with all of the salsas clearly made in house. However, when you talk to the owner, you can find out that there are often special small batch - and often very spicy - daily salsas in the back they will give you if you ask. The chef makes a carrot and habanero salsa which is unlike anything I've ever tried - and was super spicy, and super delicious. Warning: if you think anything they serve at Taco Bell is spicy, don't try the carrot habanero salsa. Again, definitely not the fanciest place, and maybe not the cleanest (the walls and "art" could use a dusting/cleaning), but in a sea full of average Mexican food, this place stands out with unique offerings and flavors, the chance to try new and delicious things, and the chance to test your heat tolerance if you're someone who thinks they can handle hot salsas and hot sauces. read more
