Unprofessional, likely racist employer with no action taken by owner. Was a regular customer for the past 10 years here but had an absolutely awful experience recently with an employee Nick. Very unprofessional behavior after he thought the pizza wasn't paid for (ordered on slice with proof of receipt) involving swearing, snatching pizza out of my hands, throwing it in the garbage. I strongly feel his behavior was racially motivated and there were no repercussions from the owner who made excuses for him. Pizza is also average but I've been trying to support local- this business is not representative of Orinda values and is a dark stain in this lovely town. read more

I just finished eating some slices of a large cheese pizza from Zamboni's. This is our go to pizza place. It is always so good and fresh and just the right balance of cheese, sauce and crust thickness. On top of this - the guys that work there are top notch. Always friendly and accommodating. On a whim, I ordered online a small deep dish custom pizza for dinner using their $5 off promotion. I ordered sausage, mushrooms and red onion. It was ready on time (5:30pm) and it was oozing with cheese. It was delicious and hit the spot. My husband who does not like deep dish pizza ate a slice and told me he was surprisingly pleased with how good it was and that it was the best deep dish he's had. read more

Ok here we go. I place my order through the website nothing fancy. Small meat combination pizza. Website sends me a text that the pizza will be ready between 7-7:10pm. Arrive at around 7:01 and I'm told "Your pizza won't be ready for another 20 minutes." (If I could add a meme right now it would be the one of the Minnion saying WHAT!!? Lol) You couldn't call a warn-a-brotha!!? Standby for the actual food review........ Crust was extremely thin. Been living in Orinda since 2018 and this was my first experience with this joint. Order a personal chicken special and deep dish. The dough on mine was very doughy like it wasn't cooked all the way and the white sauce tastes like hella ranch. The only way this will be eaten is if I throw it in the oven but the white sauce is throwing me off to where I can't finish it. Just picking up one slice the whole top fell off. read more

We have ordered from Zamboni's on multiple occasions. Tonight was the worst, by far. I don't know who was making the pizzas tonight but he or she should never be allowed to do it again. We had our first Zamboni's pizza, thin crust with pepperoni, and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Saving the five stars for my next trip to Naples ha, ha! To be fair, it is definitely a five star Lamorinda pizza. Sauce was not filled with sugar and crust was well done as we requested. We will be back. read more

For 15 years I have, on occasion, stopped by for a pizza slice, not great, but if hungry, it suffices. Recently went in, asked if they had slices ( the website says they do), and was met with a particularly rude and condescending employee who curtly responded no and turned his back on me. I noticed this pizza place for the first time and saw they sold by the slice so gave it a shot. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and a slice of cheese. The guy behind the counter put them in a box and I was on my way. When I opened up the box I saw that he piled the two piping-hot slices on top of each other. They got totally glued together and when I tried to pick up the first slice, all the cheese came right off. It was a complete greasy mess and I did take a bite in the hope it was at least good but it was not. $7 for two slices is not a lot so it's not the money but more of the waste of time and lack of their own product representation. We're a fan of deep dish so my review will be necessarily slanted. That said, the regular crust would have only gotten a single star more. The primary issue is that the deep dish is regularly burnt, creating bitter cheese (see picture) and is pretty inconsistent with the crust crunchyness and the cheese level. Sometimes it's soggy and sometimes it's a breadbow. I tried to return a particularly burnt one, and they gave me such a hard time that I have given up. Two of the reasons why deep dish pizza comes with the sauce on top is to prevent the cheese from burning during the longer cook time and to prevent the sauce from making the thicker crust soggy. Interestingly, on their website the sauce is on top and it's correctly proportioned. Unfortunately that does not happen on the real pizza. I guess the fourth strike is definitely out with this place. read more

I grew up in Orinda and Zamboni's has been around as long as I can remember. It was always our family's delivery/takeout pizza place. It's not one of those highbrow pizza joints with fancy toppings, it's the pizza you crave when you want the greasy, classic stuff. I live in Oakland now, but when I'm in the area I still get a takeout pie. It can be hit or miss depending on the night and how stoned the workers are, but bless 'em, we all know nothing goes better with pizza than a little green. read more

I had a small work gathering at my house and decided to get Zamboni's since it was midday on a Friday and they were open. I ordered two pizzas around noon and they where ready in under 20 minutes. I got the pesto and a meat lovers. The pesto pizza had tomatoes on top and was really good. The pesto was very flavorful and you could smell it once you opened the pizza. I would say the pesto stole the show for sure. Plus I reheated it the next day in my toaster oven and it was still delicious. The meat-lovers was really good as well. They didn't skimp on the toppings which I appreciated. They put the toppings under the cheese and layered them which was really neat. You didn't have toppings fall all over the place. Overall pretty decent pizza. I would definitely recommend and go back to try again. There is ample parking out front or across the street. I ordered and picked up under 20 minutes and was welcomed into the restaurant with a smile. They did have some slices ready to go if you just want a slice which is cool. read more

I have been here several times when I'm working in the area. The prices are amazing, the pizza slices are large, and the quality is great! Only down side is the amount of oil that drips off each slice, I find myself dabbing off the pizza with a napkin to get all of the excessive oil off. Omg so unhappy. I was on my lunch break which I had ordered my pizza at 11:09 my pizza was supposed to be ready at 11:39 which my break was at 11:30am. I came and it wasn't ready. I waited and finally I was given to me my "deep dish" that was supposed to be 6 slices. I go to my car to eat and the inside of this deep dish was cold. I called them and they said to bring it back and they'll put it back in the oven. I waited and finally I got my food at 11:50am. My lunch Is over at 12pm. I had 10 mins to eat but I couldnt even do that because after tasting this food I gagged. I ended up throwing the pizza away and running to Safeway across the street to buy something else to eat. A co-worker of mine lives in the area and brought some pizza to work. Looked pretty good. So I asked him, "Where's that from?" He replied "Zambonis". I told him I'd have to check it out. I took my wife out to early lunch and we got two personals. A Yummi Pizza for her and a Chicken special for myself. We were very happy with the taste and look of our thin crusts pizzas. So good in fact, we decided to come back for dinner and order more pizza for the fam. We came back and ordered a Calzone and large deep dish Chicken Special.The deep dish option pricing is a little different as when you get deep dish, you pay per topping, just FYI.Once again, pizza was just as great as the first time. Delicious. The only thing that wasn't sitting right with me was, I asked for extra white sauce and the gentleman over the phone placing my order acknowledged. To my surprise, when I looked at my receipt on my way home I noticed I was charged a "4 topping pizza" instead of a "3 topping" it actually was. Not cool. At least tell me "extra sauce" is going to be charged as an extra topping instead of not disclosing it to me. I would not have agreed to $2.00 for extra sauce. I love their calzone in a Hawaiian style - the Canadian bacon/ham is cubed rather than sliced and that little change makes a huge difference. Very 1st time in this place and all I can say is, "I'm beyond disappointed "! Walked in at about 1:30 pm and was the only customer. Wasn't greeted and had to ask what pizza was available by slice since they sit so high up above the counter. The TV was on, South Park playing with use of vulgarity in the episode! Must say that alone was enough to say that, "I'll NEVER return"! 2 males working, 1 of which couldn't stay off his cell phone while still having me pay for my order. Stopped in for a takeout pie to eat in car after long hike at Briones Regional Park based on mostly good reviews. Hawaiian pizza was very tasty with good chunks of ham and basil and zesty tomato sauce. A large pie can easily feed 3-4 hungry people. Pricier than chains but much better, too. Not artisanal but not junk either. More like a good New York style thin crust pizza. It was ready in 20 minutes. Would definitely return and/or recommend. read more
