    Cookies and cream gelato

I came here for the gelato today after work. It was perfect for a hot afternoon. I was warmly welcomed and offered to try samples of the different flavors. I was pleasantly surprised by the cookies and cream so I chose that one. It was very nice to sit next to the window with the view of the golf course and jazz music playing in the background. Overall warm and friendly vibes! I'll be coming back to try the sandwiches!

Hot Ham and Swiss on Sunflower Wheat bread

I had the pleasure of visiting this charming sandwich shop for a quick bite and left quite impressed. The place looks like it's been around for quite some time. It is quaint, inviting, and very suitable for a casual walk-in. The service was friendly; considering it was my first time, they offered to do a sandwich remake free-of-charge if it wasn't to my satisfaction! I got the Hot Ham and Swiss sandwich on sunflower wheat bread, and it was a decision well-made. I really like their locally sourced bread -- truly standout. Altogether it was simple, well-toasted, and incredibly flavorful. Everything melted together, flavors were perfectly balanced making it easy to chomp down. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in search of a satisfying sandwich experience.

    Such a cute little cafe

I enjoyed the beautiful ride to Orinda this morning. This was exactly what I needed, a yummy hot sandwich and a gigantic cup of fragrant green tea, to warm my belly on such a wet day! Service was greetings with a smile, you can never go wrong with that, love the outdoor seating with the course across the way, but it was way too wet. My sandwich was a ham, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese on some yummy bread. I refilled my tea 3x because I just love tea.

Cup of soup (veggie) and half chicken Monterey

When you need a quick bite in Orinda, nothing beats the classic deli, Geppettos. Been there forever serving great coffee and quiche in the morning, and great lunches in the afternoon. My go-to is the Chicken Monterey on sunflower wheat bread - chicken breast, Dijon mustard, green chilis, lettuce, and jack cheese all toasted up. I usually get a half and get a cup of the homemade soup of the day. Today it was veggie- full of veggies and perfect on a cold day.

Longtime customer of Geppetto's! I've gotten coffee drinks and food in the past. My go-to order now is the chicken pesto sandwich. It's tasty and a good amount of ingredients. This time, tried their lemonade. It was refreshing on a hot day!

This place used to be ok , not anymore. AVOID I had a chicken taco salad that was a notch below taco bell. Tiny amount of little microscopic squares of what tasted like canned chicken. The sauce seriously tasted worse than taco bell. The chips were pedestrian low grade safeway chips. Save your money for something good.

    Mocha Frappe.

As often as I am in Orinda and have driven by, I've never had occasion to stop at this cute little caffe. The weather was very hot and I was wanting something cool and refreshing. I got a mocha frappe, one of my favorites and it was soooo delicious and refreshing. Bicyclers that bike the course along the SPD Reservoir often stop here and they say the smoothies are amazing. This place is run by a very nice family and the very friendly lady will make your drinks to your specifications. They have outdoor seating and are Covid responsible with hand sanitizers available as well as individually wrapped masks if their customers need them. They just resumed opening on Sundays again in addition to the other days. They also have sandwiches, salads, quiche, baked items and snacks. Take a tip from the bicyclers that stop here and say that the smoothies are amazing.

*** Review During COVID-19 Pandemic *** Headed home from the city and realized we were STARVING. A quick check on Yelp led us to Geppetto's Caffe in Orinda. Thank you Yelp for another delicious discovery! Hubs and I ordered the Chicken, Brie, & Pesto and Turkey Club sandwiches, along with a medium Mexican mocha. Both sandwiches were delicious and quieted down our rumbling tummies. Hubs could not stop raving about the basil lemon mayo on his sandwich. Geppetto's Caffe is a small mom & pop café with both indoor and outdoor seating. Place your order at the counter and one of the kind owners will bring your food to your table. Plenty of street parking, too! Geppetto's is following all CAL-Osha guidelines to ensure safety for customers and staff. Hand sanitizer is available for use. Geppetto's Caffe is a hidden gem! Please come out and support this small business

The older Asian woman with the puffy surgery face took my order. Every time I ordered something that cost extra she said "thats's extra" after the third time she said "that's extra" I politely stopped her and smiled and I said "I know. You don't have to keep saying that." She paused and didn't say it again. She took my order. I asked for green tea. Then i realized I wanted it to go instead so I asked for a Styrofoam to go cup. The older woman with the dirty apron who cleans tables said okay. As she brought me the cup she dropped the lid on the floor in front of me. Picked it up and handed to me with a smile on her face. I know, I should of left but..... I ordered a breakfast scramble with breakfast sausage, 1 egg and 2 egg whites with avocado and a side of sour cream. I also ordered fresh squeezed orange juice and a side of fruit. And 1/2 Belgian waffle. What I received instead of a breakfast was horribly scrambled eggs with unmelted cheese old avocado and no breakfast sausage. When I told Ms. puff about the mistake she realized she made the mistake when taking my order. The hash browns looked good so I opted for a side of breakfast sausage instead. I tried to eat the food I order, but there was absolutely no flavor. None. I don't even use pepper. I tried it today tho lol. Nothing helped them eggs. And to make matters worse the breakfast sausage that was brought to me was dangerously undercooked. I was so mad I was seething with anger. Only thing removed from the bill was the breakfast sausage even though I spilled my orange juice by accident.

I arrived around 7:30 and it was empty, but as I was deciding what to get there was a line out the door. Everything looks delicious it was so hard to choose. For myself I got the egg and ham croissant which was so unique and absolutely delicious. A perfect savory treat. I also had a bite of their strawberry-rhubarb breton which was also delicious, kinda like a shortbread cookie with cream and strawberry. The worker was super sweet helping me out and patient as I was struggling on what to order for her and myself. Small shop with meter/street parking.

Their food is generally pretty good: ranging from average (certain seasonal desserts, their ham and…read morecheese croissants, scones) to excellent (toffee cake, almond croissants, certain beads). They are on the pricey side but that's expected in the Bay Area. The reason for the two stars: of the last three times I've been there, they have gotten my order wrong TWICE. Once in a while is totally an acceptable accident but two thirds wrong is really poor service. The workers are nice but not exactly approachably friendly. They take the order in front of the register, receive payment, and then step over to the counter to collect the items. The issue is when you (I) order a lot of stuff, they get collected behind the counter and placed into a large shopping bag so you can't see what you are getting (or not getting). They walk around behind the counter grabbing stuff and those that have paid stand in a small corner away from the purchasing line so it's difficult to see what they do (or don't) pick up. The first time I came home to find my order of half loaf (they sell the large ones by halves, if you want) missing. I brushed it off as an accident. I don't live close enough to go back before they close and I wouldn't have proof anyways. This last time I went, they didn't put in a pastry! At this point, I'm down about $16 and beginning to wonder if it's deliberate. *sigh* So now I have to decide whether I boycott them altogether or only buy one or two items so I can see what I am getting or be the weirdo that takes out every item in a large shopping bag to double check their work. *sigh again*
