Fun atmosphere and a huge menu but the service is severely lacking. Went in on a Saturday around 7:30 and they were not very busy. Our waiter was doing everything else but serving tables! Once we finally got our order in the food was out quickly and was hot and the veggies were fresh (I ordered chicken fajitas). My chicken was way overcooked and tough and the dish itself was very bland. Large portions. The margarita was too sweet and a little sickening. This place has gone down hill bad. Plus side it appeared clean but I'd rather go somewhere else. read more

The menu is pretty diverse - the choices cover most of the food you'd expect to find all over Mexico - The lunch combos are hard to beat - the create your own combo - allows you to choose from the best of the best, whatever you might be craving - my beef taco, relleno, and chicken enchilada was amazing! I always say you can tell how good any restaurant serving Mexican food is by their relleno - and my relleno was great - The service was a little spotty, slow with the drink refills but the food came out hot and fast - to their defense the dining room was full - The decor was pretty much what you'd expect to find in a Mexican restaurant - a definite south of the border feel, with a background filled with happy conversations and music - their bar was stocked up with just about every type of drink you could imagine - happy hour must be happy indeed! This is our go to place, but the last 2 times we have had 'interesting' experiences. 1 was with another customer and the police outside before dining and the second the service was WAY OFF. Will be visiting again and hope the service issues were just a fluke. read more

The piñata bowl is my favorite dish. It has chicken, steak and shrimp. It also comes with a cheese sauce. Add or minus what you like. I leave out the shrimp and cheese sauce. The ambiance is welcoming. Free chips and salsa are given once you are seated. The chips come out fresh and warm. read more

We used to visit this place weekly but lately its quality has gone way down hill. Took our grandkids here and the kids grilled cheese wasn't even melted between the bread, my ground beef taco salad was barely warm. Server gave us 3 straws and utensils for 4 people and we had to track somebody else down to get a 4th. Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant! I've been going here for years and they never disappoint. Food and service is always top notch. I don't know about you, but I judge my Mexican restaurants on two things, salsa and margaritas. Personally I hate chunky salsa, and their salsa is the perfect balance of smooth with just the right amount of kick. I could drink it from a straw! Now onto the margarita, it's literal perfection. I've been around the Mexican chain restaurant block once or twice and nothing compares to a La Piñata margarita. It's potent, but doesn't taste potent. P.S. In my search for great Mexican food since moving to Cincinnati, I decided to try La Piñata. The hostess had a smile and seated us right away. The restaurant is decorated colorfully like a Mexican restaurant you would find in Mexico. They have authentic Mexican music playing in the background, which I feel adds to the overall experience. The chips & salsa were good but, if you ask, they have an excellent HOT salsa too. My husband added it to the regular salsa, which he said added to the flavor. I ordered the 'create your own plate' with cheese enchilada, shredded beef taco & chicken tamale and a Margarita. It was all very good. The meat was moist so the taco tortilla started falling a part half way through.. Next time I would eat it first. The Margarita was very good. Our server was nice but didn't keep up on beverages or chips & salsa without having to call him over. I'd recommend this restaurant and would come here again. read more

I have visited this restaurant many times. I make it a habit to choose different items from the menu each time I go with the exception of the Chile relleno which I order every time. I am continually impressed. The service is phenomenal. The food is always delivered promptly, and is plentiful. I was overjoyed to find them in their new building and I must say it's beautiful. You are really missing out if you do not give this a try. I think the queso Charro is outstanding. The shredded beef has so much flavor and the crunchy tacos are amazing. It had been a while since I was at La Pinata (mainly because we frequent another Mexican place down the street) but we were looking to try something different and this was convenient to some shopping we had to do. We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday and were sat immediately. Unfortunately, we were right by the front door but it wasn't bad. Service was quick and our drink order was brought to the table immediately. It took a few minutes for us to decide what to order but once we did, the food was out fast. It was fresh and hot. I got Al Pastor on corn tortillas. They are served in the authentic way with cilantro and onion. It had a little too much onion for me but they were delicious. I've had some great Al Pastor other places and this was comparable. Maybe a little to heavy in the sauce/marinade but it had great flavor. We ended the meal with sopapillas (sp?). It was very inexpensive so the small serving size wasn't shocking. They were good but I am used to other places serving them with a generous helping of a honey sauce that these lacked. Tip: Ask for their spicy salsa; it is much better than the mild salsa they give to every table. But be careful; they will charge for multiple refills of the chips (see the menu for details) Definitely give this place a shot and try the Al Pastor tacos! read more

Would recommend the grilled tacos and trying 3 different proteins bcz you can't really go wrong. The chorizo was crispy and full of flavor, the fish was charred but still moist. My shrimp taco was probably my least favorite but nothing to fret about. Comes with a generous side of toppings when you opt for "rice & beans." Guacamole side dish is par, queso also just okay but my wife and little one love variety for chip dippin' so we were all content. Get some jalapeños on the side and the house hot sauce (salsa texture) if you need heat, they make a good one. Will continue to support this location as they've proven consistency. read more
