I've made it a mission to try everything on their menu, I don't know what they do to their retried beans but it's ridiculous makes my mouth water just thinking about them and that's just the beans. My last dish was the Yucatan Home Special it was wonderful, nice and hot, just the right amount of kick, not to salty and full of flavor. They definitely don't send out a dish that has filler to make it look like more you get what you paid for. The value for your hard earned money is reciprocal at La Piñata. To me a place like that shows they value their customers and hold themselves in high regard as they should, they have earned their place in Phoenix must eats. The servings are more then ample I can't remember a time when I successfully finished my food. I am always taking food home, soon as a sense my gauge going empty I finish it off, I'm not letting that goodness go lonely it would be a disservice to the skilled chefs at La Piñata and their dedication to service. Without a doubt this place is one of the best restaurants in the valley. The dining experience is above average the food just takes it over the top as a package it's worth visiting more than once. Very clean, service is friendly it's a great neighborhood restaurant to visit when you're craving top notch food. I'm not easily impressed but 4 stars from me says a lot. I've been there multiple times and yet to be disappointed as I venture on my mission to try the whole menu. They do offer a military discount. read more

Well, another one added to my never return list. Ordered food, arrived exactly when told to be there, paid, was told it wasn't ready yet. And then I stood for 25 minutes waiting. Nothing. Stood staring at the other take out orders. I finally got up and asked for an update on my order. She reached over, grabbed an order that was sitting there for quite some time, and handed it to me. We had a La Pinata in the Bay Area (see other reviews on those) but i was SUPER surprised to see the name in Phoenix. While up in California it's Michoacan or Central, this is all about the best Sinaloan cuisine and culture here. I was not let down!! The place is easy to find, and parking is a bit tight, but considering it was packed, that's ok... The drink specials and house stuff was really well put together and they pull a mean Negro Modelo on tap... The service was AWESOME and super fast. Great chips, taste fresh made, great salsa, i want more. All the time. The meals everyone got seemed beautiful so gf and i got her standard, chicken tacos, and i got the Carne Machaca. We visit Scottsdale almost every year. Now we have been to La Pinata 5 or 6 times. Every time, I am reminded how good it is. For some reason I think I may have over hyped it, but everything from food, to the service, to the ambiance, makes this my favourite Mexican restaurant ever. read more

I was first introduced to La Piñata in 1978, and it quickly became one of my favorites in Phoenix. The food has been consistently great, and the service has always been like family, very friendly and attentive. I have brought many out-of-town friends and relatives here over the years, and the next time in town, they always want to go back. And as a huge bonus, their (new) location is only a few blocks from home, and my wife and I frequently walk there for dinner. We'll be back. read more

One of my favorites in the Valley, They are known for the chimichangas, however I think their tamales are the best. We always try something different every time we come here. Really haven't found anything bad. Portions are huge, so if you are thinking about sharing, this is the place to do it. Rice and beans are very good. They do offer black beans also. Plates come to your table piping hot, so be aware. The salsa with your chips is a little in the hot side, this is the way I like it. My two friends and I had lunch at La Piñata following competing at a dog show at the State Fairgrounds. We were allowed to eat on the patio with our two well-behaved toy dogs. A gentleman (owner?) came out to talk to us and told us how much he loves dogs. He talked to us for about 10 minutes then comped our first round of drinks. Our waiter brought us water and shredded chicken for the dogs. The blood orange margaritas are to die for and their shredded beef tacos are the best and their flan was delicious. Before we left the gentlemen came to say goodbye and encouraged us to bring the dogs back. We'll definitely be back next month after another dog show at the Fairgrounds. read more

I have been coming to this great local eatery for years and have treated my staff to this place many times, we even had a special Holiday Party hosted by this restaurant here years ago that was a hit. I own a small business right down the street and this is one of our go to spots for tasty & consistent Mexican food, dine-in, or pick up is always great. The service is always top notch, drinks are ALWAYS refilled quickly! If you've been or have lived in Phoenix for a while, you know that we have a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants. La Pinata, hands down, has one of the best Mexican dishes I've had in the valley! We ordered the chicken burrito with rice and beans on the side, and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Everything came out sizzling hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The service, although it was a busy Sunday night, was also on point. The free chips and salsa were great. Since it was busy, we waited for about 10-15 mins for a party of two. However, once we were seated, our server was very attentive & took our orders right away. There is a small parking surrounding the restaurant. I haven't tried the drinks yet since there is a bar, but I will definitely be back! read more

Visited here with about ten family members on 3/25/21. The food was good and the drinks were generous. I had the enchiladas suizas with chicken. They were good. I also had a taste of my sister's chimichanga, which was delicious. The place was packed, but we had a great time. They kept the chips coming, and were very attentive. Went there for the first time last night. Service was fine but my food was not eatable. Got the Taco Salad with ground beef. The beef had a very peculiar taste to it, the lettuce was wilted and any guac or sour cream was practically invisible. The salad was served in an extremely stale tortilla bowl. It tasted rancid. I told the waiter about it and he did not offer to exchange or comp this poor salad. My wife got the chimi and ate a few bites. There is no flavor to their foods. I got the number 5, which had a chicken taco and chicken enchilada. I added a fried egg. Sooo good. Good sauce, easy to cut with a fork and the Spanish rice is so good. I posted pics of what my friends got: number 1, 2 and a la carte. We ordered dessert of fried ice cream. The cornflakes were uniformly encrusted around the ice cream. The shell was a pretty touch. I've come here solo & sat at the bar but also brought different friends here. This is my go-to spot for Albondigas Soup ~ super delish, nurturing, huge portions. My friend had Pork Carnitas and raved about them. Consistently yummy and always friendly/hospitable. We went to lunch with Mom "82" at La Piñata a couple of days ago. It was really, really Awesome!! We are native Phoenician's and we had never been but Wow great Food, Great service and Great atmosphere. Mom had the lunch special 2 tacos, rice and beans and it was huge and homemade and fabulous!!
