Another "call Kyle" situation. Dropping everything in my life to make sure the business keeps rolling. They did me so dirty

I was "laid off" (fired) from la pizzaria for no VALID reason. I've been an employee here for the last 4 years The last couple years I've been the guy they call on when people don't show up or call off... I'm the one who picked up all of the slack. Still treated like crap. I recently mentioned being compensated for the extra shifts and extra work i do when others don't show up. And magically I'm out of work all of a sudden. They treat all employees of color differently... the schedule is unfair to the dependable workers (my self and a couple others) Louisa (the owner) is behind all of this mess. Very poor people to work for. I don't recommend eating there due to improper (FIFO) none of the cooks are trained properly. Cross contamination. Dating food. The list goes on. This is not to bash this business but I've kept quiet long enough. Just want to spread some awareness in stark county. I do not recommend!!!

    Chicken Marsala
    Cathy W.

A good friend of mine recommended coming here specifically for their chicken Marsala. We had been talking about our experiences at various places in the area and that my husband still had not found something he loved here. She highly recommended La Pizzaria and said her wedding receptions was here because of the chicken Marsala. We had a date night and decided to try it out. If my husband could have a review of just his dinner, he'd give it five stars. However, there were a lot of other things going on that caused the two stars. First... the service was lousy. When I asked our server for recommendations, as we'd never been here, she said "oh I don't know... the seafood is good, and so are the steaks... and the pasta." Like completely generic and not helpful all. We started with the bruschetta bc of fellow Yelpers saying its good and it was just ok. Not the best I've ever had but not the worse either. I got the French Onion soup to start and it was completely bland. With a $3 up charge to have it instead of salad, it was overpriced, underwhelming, and not worth it. Our dinners were good. My husband LOVED his Marsala but my lasagne was just ok. Not too flavorful and a ginormous portion. I had enough to have again for dinner a few nights later. As soon as we were done we asked for boxes and the check and we then sat for over 20 minutes waiting for our waitress to return. My husband had to hunt her down bc we needed to leave and had wasted a half hour just waiting for boxes and our check. Overall my husband would go back, but I'm not sure if I will. It's too expats take kids ($8 kids meals that don't include a drink) and it was a rather expensive dinner for what we got.

    the entrance to the restaurant

This restaurant is set in a large very pretty building that is meant to accommodate parties with multiple guests. They also had a large open dining area with tables for smaller parties as well. We wanted to try pizza from somewhere new and picked this place. When I entered in to pick it up (no drive thru or curbside is offered), it was very quiet and peaceful. Just a few families were inside the restaurant and there wasn't a lot of hustle and bustle. This was on a Wednesday, not a weekend. One pizza was cheese, the other had onions and peppers on it. The crust is a bit of a thicker hand tossed type crust. The sauce that was used was very good, and had just a hare of sweetness to it. The pizza was cooked well, although was not cut at all. That wasn't a big deal to me...we can cut pizza without a problem. I'm just not sure if that was normal or if it accidentally came out to us and should have been cut. We would order from here again.

The bruschetta at La Pizzeria. Simply the best!

Great banquet space, food was good, and their homemade salad dressing is to die for. My only complaint is that their service was slow.

The staff was very professional. We really appreciated the barista going out of her way to provide our grandchild with a fun experience. The towels are large and soft. The bedding was apparently new as it was stiff, so not as comfortable as it looked. The bed was very firm but did seem to tilt to the edges. The room we had apparently had direct access to the venting for the AC and it was really loud each time the AC came on so avoid room 110 . There was a sound machine available on the nightstand which I was assuming was to mask the road sounds but I didn't hear the traffic at all so now I think it may have been to blend the sounds of the AC. We will definitely use this hotel again, just ask for a different room.

She seemed like she may have been a manager of some sort but I didn't catch her name. On the last night of our stay my husband's aunt came to watch our 3 year old who just learned how to swim, swim in the pool. This short blonde lady stopped my aunt as she was walking in the lobby and asked "can I help you?" my aunt said "I'm just going to watch my niece swim in the pool for a minute." She said "only hotel guests are allowed in the pool." My aunt said "I wasn't going to get in I was just going to watch my great niece show me how she learned to swim". The lady said "we cannot allow you in the pool area at all." It was around 8:30pm so we would have only been in there about an hour and there was not a single other person using the pool at the time. We went to the pool area anyway and the lady came in furious that we snuck my aunt in after she told her she wasn't allowed in. BUTTTTTT the posted pool rules specially say "pool is for hotel guests AND their respective guests." She could not explain that to us and eventually said she'll allow it this time but basically just stared us down until we started getting ready to leave. If the pool rules say that hotel guests are allowed to bring guests, and there wasn't ANYONE else using the pool, the whole tantrum of this lady seemed ridiculous. My husband hasn't been home to see his family in 5 years because he's in the military, this was the first time our kids were meeting that side of their family. This whole interaction really ended our trip on a bad note. Not to mention the whole time this was going on, there were about 7 kids that looked like they couldn't be any older than about 12 messing around and being very reckless in the gym. And not one word was said to them. Only my 60 year old aunt who just wanted to watch her great niece swim for a few minutes. We will definitely try staying somewhere else next time.

The bar is separate from the food and its separate purchases. The restaurant also has a stark contrast between dim moody lighting around the bar to sterile almost garage lighting over the restaurant tables which KILLS the cool vibe of the other side. Once seated, you go up and order what you want. They ask for tip when you purchase your food, and I did not tip. It is the same as fast food. You order yourself, you have to grab your own silverware and napkins, you go to the bar when you're ready to order drinks although sometimes they do come around. I assumed I pay for food and tip for service at the end? I made a mistake by that I guess because the pizza actually took 45mins to an hour to come out. I went up to the bar to order drinks, they were served with no eye contact or words even spoken. Date & I planned to eat the first pizza with some drinks, chill, then order another to nibble and take home. By the time the 1st came out we were STARVING and already had a few drinks on an empty stomach. Even a group of 4 beside us came in, ate, and left before we even could!! We just ate the pizza, tipped $30 for the bar tab/service which wasn't great, and left. If you like your server, which I did, you realize after that you actually tipped bar service and not even your server. It is so confusing. The food is very good and the staff seem nice enough people; however the concept is confusing. You're doing things yourself, but being asked to tip twice. If you don't tip the first time, the food service is obviously aware. Overall, it was not the night out I would have liked. Combined with the weird hours this is not sustainable. Good pizza and alcohol shouldn't be this hard...
