    Fruit pastries

We just happened to be driving by and on whim decided to stop in for some breakfast pastries. And we were sure happy that we did! Wow! Their various fruit pastries are DELICIOUS. We brought them back to our campsite to enjoy with breakfast the next morning and I loved every single one! We got apple, peach, blueberry, and strawberry. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite as they were all spectacular. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

I'll try not to gush but it won't be easy. This is one of my favorite bakeries around. I thank heaven I don't live closer than 2 hours from this bakery or I'd be a walking breathing sfogliatelle by now. Everything I've tried here is amazing, and I've tried waaay too many things here to count. The pizza alone would be reason to visit. Sooo good. Perfect crust, perfect toppings. I love the pastries so much. I'm not sure which ones are housemade and which are not, but I don't care - everything I've tried here is delicious, I don't really care if it's made in house. The bombolini, the sfogliatelle, and the myriad of cookies are all winners. My favorites are the little mushroom cookies - incredible. I've never tried the cakes or cannoli, biscotti or tiramisu, but I know they have all that as well. The coffee is pretty good, and a variety of imported Italian sodas. Service is very friendly and helpful. Just writing this makes me want to drive to Ben Lomond tomorrow. It's worth it!

This is the best bakery I have been to.Everything I've gotten here has been delicious. I have gone several times to this bakery, and love it!

Amazing service, very helpful lovely lady. And the pastries were a 100/10, so many yummy options. Highly recommend

What a lovely unexpected find in the Santa Cruz mountains! For those of you who are gluten free, this place is the Mecca of all things delicious, they even sell GF pasta from Italy to boot. Reasonably priced, La Placa sells Italian GF pastries as well as pizza. I don't recall if they do a GF crust however. They also do coffee, I was impressed with the quality of my decaf Americano. There is seating outside and I dig the homey vibe. Definitely returning!

This place is an amazing little shop serving excellent pastries, cookies, and desserts. We were so amazed by the smell of the pizza that we came back just to try it. Even the pizza is epic! I can't wait to visit again.

As we got off the freeway, she looked up and there was a coffee shop right down the street. He stopped in here for a quick bite. The two barista is helping us were incredibly helpful and patient since we had to read everything on the menu. I also loved how their store was set up and they sold local arts and crafts from the community! I love the community aspect here in Santa Cruz County! Perhaps she misread the menu, but she thought "egg stacker" was a sandwich because it was under the "bagel sandwich "category. But under the description, it does not say there's any bread. Lol, which is better for us since we're trying to be gluten-free for the day. I had an ice green tea and a salmon egg which was delicious and filling perfectly made egg with the right amount of capers and seasoning for each bite to have enough flavor on it. The green tea was perfect since it was 92°! I can't wait till we get to the beach! I was sad. They didn't have any nitro coffee, but I will definitely come back to try more pastries since it seems like they were out but then again we got there about 30 minutes before they closed. Lol.

When I tell you my friend's coffee was bad, it was bad enough I would tell you to go get burnt bean water from a major national coffee chain before getting it here... and the whole coffee interaction was so very bizarre... She ordered a latte with soy. When they brought it to her, they handed it to her in a way the lid popped off and when she attempted to take it from them to sip the coffee, as it was overfull, so she could put the lid on, the guy pulled it back away from her as she's saying "it's fine" and takes it back out of her hand, walks back to the kitchen sink, and dumps out a good inch at the top before putting the lid back on and bringing it back to her. It was really weird to insist on taking it out of her hand and super odd choice to try to solve an ill-fitting lid by dumping out part of the drink she paid for. The way he took it from her weirded us out. It was not helpful and friendly, it was insistent and domineering. We immediately wanted to get out of there and get to the car... and the lid pops off again and again, every time she picks it up. The worst part is that afterward she noticed white dry powdery crud settled at the bottom, not mixed in. No clue what it was, but our best guess was they use some sort of powdered soy milk and they didn't mix it in correctly. TL;DR - Get your coffee anywhere else.

They were open but I think items were limited at the time and we were still masked up. My experience then was less than stellar but honestly, I think we were all still on edge. For this visit, we stopped in before heading home to pick up some pastries for a light breakfast. It was around 10 am and it was bustling. Clearly it is a popular spot but the line moved fast. We ordered ham and cheese croissants, an almond croissant, cinnamon roll with raisins (you can get them without as well) and an apricot pocket. Everything we tried was delicious and I mean DELICIOUS. The pastries were buttery and flaky and I am craving another almond croissant as I write this, lol. We didn't want to order any hot food since we were about to hit the road but they also sell breakfast sandwiches and burritos and it smelled heavenly in there. It is a little cramped with a few small tables but there is also a patio with a kind of wild garden which was very charming. I can 100% see this being a must stop for us whenever we visit Santa Cruz!

Your under staffing is not your customer's problem. Never experienced anything like this. They essentially turned me away after waiting in a 20 minute line. Looked at the menu, prices are absurd as well Ate here one time and the veggie Reuben sandwich was absolutely terrible and dry. Businesses have come and gone from this location consistently for years. This spot will be the same if you don't stop sucking. Update: Jessica, if anyone is speaking outside the realm of reality, it's you. I also grew up here-- and? Try looking at it from your guest's perspective and not your own. Waiting 20 minutes on a line to order a single sandwich for 1 person should not take 20-30 minutes post waiting in a 20 minute line. People value their time. You should consider valuing your customer's time instead of telling them they are lying. Pro tip, and good luck. Update #2: hey fellow yelpers: scroll thru some of the other reviews here: Jessica (the owner) has apparently been rude directly to the faces of many customers..Don't take it from me, there are several reviews before mine calling her out by name for how rude she was. Great example for her staff and really does nothing but solidify my initial review of over priced hipster food with a long line out the door to wait for mediocrity.
