I enjoyed two Pacifico Micheladas, and they were so refreshing and delicious! We started with the aguachiles and oysters, which were packed with flavor and incredibly fresh. The star of the night was the fish platter--it was huge and easily enough for two people! Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Oh boy where do I start? The wife and I wanted to try out LA Playita the new local restaurant in our area but saying our experience was a disappointment is a BIG understatement. This restaurant used to be the old Pizza Hut on Lyons, and I'll give them this much, they did a pretty good job renovating it and making it feel like you're beachside in Mexico.. To start off, we came in and seated ahead of 2 other couples but were served last. No big deal.. When the waiter finally came to take our order we asked if they had fried fish and he suggested the Zarandeado Fish (see menu item circled). Then I asked about the butterfly shrimp on their menu and he advised that was their breaded shrimp which I saw was a different dish. I went ahead and pulled up a Yelp picture from their site and asked if we could have the butterfly shrimp and he went ahead and still rang us up for the breaded shrimp. 15mins later, the Zarandeado Fish was brought out and we were surprised how big it was. Kuddos to the chef for trying to make this dish pretty but no amount of garnish can change how bad it tasted. Super salty, soggy and did not taste fresh at all. 10mins go by and our shrimp order comes and surprise surprise, they bring us the Breaded Shrimp. Due to a Gluten Allergy we could not accept this order and showed another server what we actually ordered. 2nd server scolded the first server and apologized and said they would remake our order. Another 10mins go by and they bring us a shrimp plate that does not even come close to their menu item or the picture on Yelp. We decided that there was no point pushing back on this so we went ahead and just asked for our check. The icing on the cake, bill comes and they charge us for a different fish plate that is double the cost! I don't know if this was straight up a misunderstanding with the server but definitely felt taken advantage of. Normally we would just never come back to a restaurant like because of our experience but I'm hoping this review reaches the owner, a manager or someone who actually cares about this place. The prices on the menus on Yelp are different then what they are at the restaurant. The menus at the front counter have the prices blacked out. The manager said they are updating menus. I told them they are basically bait and switching customers at this point. At least state "market price" on the menus versus having crossed out price from a marker. This place is a gem!! Seafood is so fresh and everything is prepared perfectly. The entire staff makes you feel very comfortable and everyone talks to you. We had the black shrimp cocktail which was the best I have ever had! Cilantro, avocado, cucumbers, onions, and an amazing mixture of spices. Looking forward to trying the red and another time the green one! I could only eat half of it. $16.99, worth every penny. We also ordered 3 types of tacos to get the "flavor" of the place: Mahi, Golden, and Playita special shrimp taco. The Playita was my favorite, but all exceptional. They make their own agua fresca and horchata! You like seafood? You crave flavor!! You MUST go!! Everything is perfectly cooked. I had the mojarra Frita and it was served with everything on it. It had a fried Serrano, grilled onion, rice, and beans and a side of homemade corn tortillas. It was delicious. Finally able to try a new place in the neighborhood and the food was worth the wait. La Playita opened a month ago and serves delicious Mexican seafood. Wife and I had the mixed shrimp cocktail and 3 tacos - breaded shrimp, breaded fish (her favorite) and the "governor taco". I liked everything! Tacos were good size and the seafood portions in the cocktail were ample. They serve chips and beans instead of chips and salsa which was a nice change and the beans are delicious! I enjoyed the decor and everything was clean. Lots of seating, plenty of parking and comfortable ambiance. Service was also great... hats off to Jose for the recommendations, smiles a welcoming vibe. I must say I'm a huge fan of seafood, I'm a little biased when it comes to the flavoring of what good seafood is. For starters I decided to take a stroll and have a high protein low calorie meal and I thought seafood could be perfect. I guess I bumped into opening day. I was greeted instantly and had the freedom to sit where I please. My server Juliana was an extremely polite and attentive server. I was given these chips and pico de gallo which to my surprise was not spicy and greatly appreciated because they also served me a salsa that had a light kick to it which you can add to your pico de gallo for those who like spicy. I decided to order the "Cóctel de Camarón" and was nervous but it was recommended by my server and I gave it a shot. The shrimp was delicious, the avocado was perfectly ready, but as we all know the broth is what matters most. So it was an okay broth. It was a little too soupy and I could taste more of the Clamato than I could the ketchup and perhaps the Worcestershire sauce. I loved that it wasn't spicy though most should come a bit spicy. However they provide a ketchup and tapatío sauce. (I would prefer perhaps a hot sauce from Nayarit) The ambiance is very upbeat, with Spanish music and TVs in the background. All employees were friendly and making sure everyone's needs were met. Unfortunately I couldn't check out the restroom, but since I would like to give other food on the menu a chance, I'll take a look when I come back ;) wishing this business all the best! read more

La Playita was a great dinner choice! My family loves seafood and there's something for everyone on the menu. We're not from Santa Clarita and chose this place because of the menu. We ordered - fish chile relleno plate - morjarra frita - fish plate - breaded shrimp - octopus cocktail - green aguachile Mojarra frita was really good. The dishes were a good portion is good for the price! Octopus cocktail was plated nice! Bathrooms are clean, lots of parking. I would come here again! read more

Seafood restaurant that just opened up in Santa Clarita that I had to try. First impressions when we walked was NO air conditioning it was extremely hot and was even cooler outside. To start off the menu had NO appetizers or margaritas advertised with the price. Long story short I paid $75 for 2 margaritas 1 tostadas mixta and an expensive plate served on a hot plate. We waned to try this place out, they did a great job renovating but the service was awful. There was one waiter but only three tables in the whole restaurant being used. We literally waiting an hour for our food just for the two of us, we asked for water twice and it didn't come, he claimed food took so long because they only serve fresh fish. I had a shrimp taco and an octopus taco, shrimp taco was great and full of shrimp but the octopus taco had like four bite size pieces of octopus, my friend had their white fish plate and he said it was tasteless and soggy. the margaritas tasted like flavored water. i think this place just needs alot more time and business to help it improve, they are keeping there place open till late night for music and dancing but i haven't seen anyone there at night so far. i do hope they improve and get business it's just starting out rough! read more

Really enjoyed the 2 tacos I got. One shrimp, one octopus. Two tacos totally filled me up. They were stuffed with seafood and avocado, instead of being stuffed with cabbage like some places I've been to. The tortilla shell was nice and crispy too. Good, friendly service as well.
