We've been here a few times over the years, I'm surprised I haven't left a review! This is one of those places tucked into an unassuming parking lot next to a Wingstop, but you are transported once you step inside. It's cool and dark, and seemingly designed to feel like an evening in a terraza and they do that well. They have a full bar, and area separate for that if you'd like to just chill there or the restaurant area. They always come through with delicious food, generous helpings and the perfect SIZZLING fajitas. Finally able to capture that here for you all! The servers are experienced and quick. I was in the mood for chips and salsa so we came to Don cucos. I've only been to the one in Burbank. This was my first time at this. Don cucos. It was a little sad that the restaurant was pretty empty. But also I didn't mind because we found a good table and service came pretty quickly. My husband ordered albondigas soup and We decided to share a sampler platter and grab two non-alcoholic beers each. He really enjoyed his soup. The sample platter was just meh. Overall, it was a nice quiet lunch that satisfied my chips and salsa craving. read more

I hadn't been here in years and was craving it and we were not disappointed. The inside is decorated and lively. Beautiful windows, fun lighting, and red leather booths. We got the chicken enchiladas and the shrimps tacos. I didn't get the picture of the enchilada and I had already eaten one taco before I got a picture. The shrimp tacos are not on the menu but you can ask for them. Let me tell you how amazing these were! So much shrimp in each taco and they were cooked prefectly. They have two different types of rice the traditional and garlic. I opted for traditional. Everything was so fresh. Our server was very nice! We ordered a chile verde plate with rice and beans. Chile verde was horrible it tasted like it came out of an old can. Rice/beans ok. Bought a wet carne asada burrito, no flavor very bland. Also bought two carne asada tacos they came with cilantro nothing else. Had pico, guacamole, and salsa with chips. Pretty much only ate the chips with salsa and the guacamole. I am a 60 year old handicapped woman. I was told to have a seat, and I will be seated shortly. This host Leo saw me sitting there and seated at least 4 different parties. Not one other person had to sit they were given tables immediately. Finally I spoke up to this Leo character and he looked at me like I was stupid. He talked down to me and insulated me. All I wanted was a apology, like oh I'm sorry I didnt notice u there. Instead he spoke to me like I was less then. I asked for the manager and he said I am the manager. We've been eating at this location for quite some time now. We will no longer come back to this location. I have a service dog. We have been bringing our dog here for a couple years now. We never had a problem. Unfortunately, today the owner took one look at my dog and decided it wasn't a service dog! He didn't bother asking me what service my dog provides for me! He kept saying he's not a service dog! How unfortunate that you don't know the ADA law! I hope that you educate yourself and your staff! read more

I haven't been here for a while so decided to visit. I ordered the milanesa steak. They make it really well. Have tried it before and it's just as good. They give you chips and salsa when you sit down. Arrived at like 4:00 pm so wasn't busy. After I sat down they started setting up tables and chairs for a large party. Re: service - two waiters stopped by four times to ask if we needed anything. The ambience here is quiet and the lights are low. They have a large bar and a few screens show sporting events. My mom and I came on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but we were greeted and offered a table near the bar. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the one item combination plate and my item was the hard shell chicken taco. It was a huge taco! With the rice and refried beans on the side I managed to eat everything on my plate and I was stuffed! Next time I'll order the 2 item combination plate so that I'll have leftovers since it was soo good! I also added some of their house salsa to my meal. I visited with a friend who loves the chicken tortilla soup at the Don Cuco in Burbank, but we soon realized that there are two different chains(?) of Don Cuco, each with a number of locations. Unfortunately, this meant that the experience we had here was very different from what we were expecting. To be fair, we only tried a few things, so don't let that stop you from visiting, but here's my recap: 1) Azteca Tortilla Soup: my friend knew it wouldn't match up immediately. The odd white squiggles are sour cream, and you can see that the chicken is not what you'd expect in chicken tortilla soup. She ate it, but was absolutely disappointed and wouldn't recommend this. 2) Taco al pastor (a la carte): the seasoning was ok, but the meat was a bit tough. This taco was $7.50, and while the guac was a nice touch, my friend let me know that it was not tasty... she wasn't able to finish it. I would not be able to recommend getting this. :( 3) Hibiscus Margarita: this was solid! It was pretty strong and pretty sweet - I was happy to finish my drink. I would consider stopping in for a drink with some chips and salsa. The ambiance isn't bad, nor is the service, so I can see this being a decent spot to have a drink. Overall, I wouldn't be too optimistic about the food, but I would go for margaritas. read more

Don Cuco's has been around for decades and for a good reason. The food is great! I have been to several locations over time and this latest time at Newhall the drinks were outstanding. I got the Cuco Punch which is their version of a Mai Tai. Really hit the spot after a long week if you know what I mean. Next on to the food. The albondigas soup was fantastic. Always love a good soup and they nailed it. After that I worked my way thru the tacos. Also very good and plenty of food. Service was good, the waiter kept our chips and salsa coming and filled the waters frequently. It's a fun family or after work atmosphere to relax and enjoy some good Mexican food. read more

Great dining experience!! I've been to this location a number of times and I've always had a good experience. On this visit I decided to share my experience. My sister and I went there for an early dinner. Upon entering we noticed they were pretty busy, however, we were greeted and immediately seated. Our server, Josue, came to our table right away...he was smiling and greeting us. I was very impressed with his demeanor. He was extremely attentive and very pleasant. We asked if we could split a meal and in a very pleasant manner, he said we could do that. We also had a to-go order we needed to place and that was done nicely. Our food was amazing, we shared the Albondigas Soup and they make very good soup. If you like Albondigas Soup this is the place to try it. We also shared the Carne Asada combo which came with rice, beans and a choice of an enchilada or chile Relleno. We decided on a cheese enchilada. The Carne Asada was cooked to perfection and was delicious, as well, the rest of the entree. Our to-go order didn't take very long to place and we got the order very quick. Our server was just wonderful and he got everything correct. I did speak to the manager to share my experience and also that he has an amazing staff. The Chile rellenos were good, just wasn't sure if it was really a poblano Chile it didn't have the stem, drinks and food are really expensive! Moved away from Santa Clarita several years ago. I'd guess it's been 3 years since eating here. First of all the food is pretty much the same great taste and high quality I've remembered. What disappointed me was the quality of service and cost of dinners. We ordered our food take out. When we asked about chips for our four dinners totaling more than $80 dollars we were given one small pint size bag and a 2 or 3 oz. Cup of salsa. This seems to be pretty skimpy. If we ate in we would get a basket. When asked for more we were told that is all they provided. Not impressive. read more

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. So far I've tried the enchiladas and crunch tacos. Both are delicious. This restaurant does get crowded during the lunch rush and dinner rush, so I advise to get there early. The ambiance is always loud when their is a crowd. :) read more

Having had tried the Burbank location I came to this one with little to no hope that it would be the same or worse. Boy was I proven wrong, perhaps the recipes were changed or they just cook differently at different locations. Either way I really loved the taquitos, rice, and beans. Consistently good option in SCV. They've been here for 30 years! Drinks are strong but syrup-y. Guacamole is the blended kind vs chunky. Salsa and chips are very good. The chicken flautas appetizer are moist, long and filling. The side salad is also filling and standard iceberg lettuce and a little shredded carrots and whatever dressing you want, I got ranch. Been coming here for 30 years but never did a review. Have had salmon, shrimp with garlic, enchiladas, fajitas and tacos before. All good. Parking is easy as there's a huge plaza with a Ralph's. The bar is a scene during sports season or weekend evenings. Post Covid it's been pretty desolate though. You can now eat outside too which is nice.
