You know it's worth trying the food when they have a giant grill right outside their market slow cooking whole chickens. I did not get the chicken lol. Instead I got the bierra tacos. Ice become obsessed with them lately. Trying to find some of the best birroa tacos in the Bay area. Don't judge me but I've only hit two spots and I am late to the game when biirra was trending. Good plain tamales, a bit dry when eaten plain, tastes like a corn cake when eaten just with sour cream. That with the salsa makes it savory. Hubby said it's the best of its kind. I ordered the side sour cream at the out-facing eatery which comes with salsa. Got a regular asada Taco that tastes okay, but the aftertaste is fantastic. I ate, didn't want to continue, but the after taste makes me want more. And I like the intense corn aftertaste in my mouth from the corn tortilla. Their horchata is very strong on its flavor and not watery at all! Which is an A+ !! Their menu prices are also very decent as it sounds reasonable for the items. I ordered a quesadilla with birria meat and it was honestly exactly as I had expected it to be. Nothing too fancy but hit the spot. One thing though that kind put me off the mood on the quesadilla was that i had a WHOLE BAY LEAF ! And took a bite and ate it sadly as i didnt notice till i was half into the bay leaf! Lol. La Plaza is a small Mexican market located on a pretty busy crossing in Mountain View. We have driven by for years, but needed some chiptoles in adobo we stopped on in First off there is plenty of parking. There as many have noted is a lot across the street. It has a decent selection of sundry items, plus what you would normally expect from any supermarket. Most importantly for us, It had our chiptoles. It has a pretty extensive butcher shop and a small but well stocked fresh section. We did not try the colocated eatery but will be back for sure read more

We received the paper weekly ad. We saw that they had pork spareribs on sale. So, we gave it a try. The store is located near the train track and a small parking lot is across the street. To our surprise, it's a nice small supermarket packed with lots of items. We went to the meat department and didn't see any spareribs but the sale sign. After some communication, the butcher understood what we were looking for. He disappeared into the back room and came out with a 15 lb package! He signaled if this was what we wanted. We saw that the ribs were of good quality and at a good price!7Although it would take us weeks to finish, but we agreed to buy the whole package! Some things are cheaper here than other stores (mostly produce) others are more expensive than other stores. I bought 5 packs of tortillas and found them cheaper elsewhere. Asked if I could return them (just minutes later when I was at the other store) and they said no. Price check other stores first because they will not match or refund you. I was told that this market has a bakery and they would carry Tres Leches Cake. Unfortunately they did not make it here. They did have small slices shipped here from another bakery. Decided to try it out. After one bite, the rest was in the trash. As for the rest of the market, it's small. The design is very tight so if two carts decide to pass each other in an isle, someones going down! Yep, that narrow. They do have a nice meat section in the back. Bought couple of items and both things were pretty fresh. Although the produce section was as narrow as the rest of the store, it was my favorite. Everything was fresh and well stocked. Synopsis: they shorted us two tacos AND swapped meats on two burritos. I used to really like La Plaza's taco window but my last visit turned me off so completely that I won't be back. I distinctly remember really enjoying their spicy Al Pastor back when it was Mi Pueblito. It was so obvious that they didn't care about the order and since you can throw a rock in almost every part of southern Mtn View and hit at least two taquerias, there's no reason to give this place any more money. I was picking up lunch for myself and some coworkers while also grabbing a car from a nearby shop. We arrived before the lunch rush so you cannot blame a busy tacqueria for these screwups. 1) We ordered 4 burritos and two tacos. Two of the burritos were to be Al Pastor and I distinctly asked if they had it. Despite saying yes, we ended up with three chicken burritos. At least the veggie burrito we ordered wasn't chicken so thanks for that. 2) I asked if everything was in the bag and of course, they said yes again. When we got to the office though, we found that these guys shorted us on the two tacos we ordered. 3) I called to complain when we realized we had gotten gypped and some lady just put the phone down and walked away (you could hear background noise). No the huge Mi Pueblo i am used to, but it does the work of getting me the Mexican stuff I sometimes want (like those chipotle base salsas, different spices, Bimbo products or panaderia sweets). Remember there is a parking lot (easy to miss) across the street, so is not only the few parking spots you will see at the entrance. People it's a real Mexican market. Don't expect the employees to be all smiles and speak clear English.. The food is fantastic. meats and fish are fresh.. Everything is cheap. You see Latin people shopping here means this is the place to shop for real Latin food. So if you don't like the way you where treated then go to whole foods! Do what I do.. Pretend you're in mexico. If you been there then you'll know what I mean and no I don't mean cabo or Cancun where you're in a close in resorts. The taqueria is a hole in the wall outside of the supermarket, don't make the mistake that I did and walk a lap around the small supermarketo. I always go here for my groceries and I went today to take my sister in law to change her WIC . I believe every real store before placing items on shelves are ready to be scanned . I under stand sometimes and item won't go through and it's ok . But when the whole shelves are full and stock it's because they should be ready . Point is that we walked in with our WIC guide book and apparently the guide book is wrong I was to leave my WIC items bc they said that it's not WIC after confirming my purchase I was being charged a balance because the WIC items were not valid. The supervisor (man to seem in charge) and cashier were rude and told me that I didnt have to accept the purchase if I knew it wasn't going to go through . 1 - as store management you should have a store ready and provide excellent customer service . 2 -you don't tell your customer not to accept a purchase if they're shopping with guide Point is that the supervisor and cashier were LAZY to void the transaction because they didn't have the items ready to be scanned with WIC ! Did a side-by-side comparison with Rincon across the tracks, and Mi Pueblo loses =(. * Chorizo taco - Meat wasn't that great, a little overcooked, didnt have that little bit of a crisp you get with really fresh well done chorizo. And the tacos really soft/soggy. * Beef steak taco - Once again, meat a little overcooked. Tacos too soft. Overall they were flavored. Don't like that they add hot sauce (and a sh*t ton if it) for you - I like to add that myself. read more

Small grocery spot that has all the essentials you need. I love how well embedded this market is to the neighborhood and its close proximity to the park across the street. However, I do miss Miss Pueblo, the previous company that owned the market prior to La Plaza. Ever since they've changed owners, its never been the same. The prices surely did go up and the quality of the products decreased. Their source of selections from produce to meats are not as prime fresh as Mi Pueblo's, but it's still good and decent. But you would notice the difference if you just headed over to the East Palo Alto Mi Pueblo location. The taqueria doesn't hook you up with all the fixings and then some that go with the tacos as Mi Pueblo did. In addition, they have mentioned they would add extra charge too for it. The quality of the food too isn't as tasty or savory as it was. More bland in flavor for my taste. Better to just hit up the taco truck. Anyways, it still nice to have a local market within walkable distance rather than living in a food desert. The market in itself is still a staple to those living in the community around it who may have limited transportation. Ample parking space adjacent to the building. We bought a super carne asada burrito last week, $1.50 extra for the super and they didn't put the guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. We let go 'cause it could be a mistake. I also bought the super quesadilla and everything was included but no salsa. Yesterday 2/3/21, we bought 2 super carne asada burritos again and 1 super quesadilla and they didn't put the guacamole, cheese, and sour cream again on all our orders! The people working here are cheaters and we've been cheated for two weeks. Never coming back here again. Food was okay and it would be better if they didn't just take our money for the extras. They could've at least let us know if they didn't have guac and they continue to offer it. They didn't even get our carne asada orders right and gave us al pastor burritos which is $1.50 cheaper than carne asada.
