The service was a little slow, but they were very busy so it was understandable. The food was excellent. The only hesitation for this place is that a lot of the dishes are combo meats, so for example chicken and shrimp or beef and chicken. Somewhat off the beaten path & not really noticeable, but well worth the stop if you see it. Friendly staff & great food. La Poblana Special was filling & delicious. Other entrees ordered by our group: nachos ala casa, ranchero fajitas, carnitas & the fajita burrito. No one left any food on their greatly portioned plates. If you're a Coca Cola drinker, beware that there are no free refills & the fountain coke had a different taste, probably due to the local water supply. Overall, nice sized portions for a reasonable price. Not a great deal of seating or parking but I think you'll be glad if you have to wait a little bit. read more

Was really excited to check out the 4.5 star Mexican restaurant in town. Unfortunately, they provided the worst service at a restaurant I have ever had in my life. We first ordered a margarita and I am completely confident there was no tequila, it was PURE sour mix (not even margarita mix, sour mix). To not to complain about a weak drink, we ordered extra shots of tequila to put in, which took 30 minutes to get, after asking 3 times, after completely finishing our meals, after NO ONE checked on us a single time. To top it all off, we had to wait 30 minutes to get our check, which we didn't get until we stood up to find the server. I left my full, untouched sour mix at the table, and was not asked if I didn't like it or if there was anything they could do to fix the situation, in fact we had to go again to find the server to pay our check that we were opposed to paying in the first place. It was clear that both servers could tell that we were not satisfied, and were doing everything possible to passive aggressively avoid us in any way possible. Will never come back, and will gladly give our business to Guayabitos. Stay away unless you want a horrible service experience. read more

The food is edible, but the service is terrible. This restaurant is completely disorganized, and I'm not sure how well any of the staff speak English, which obviously creates a communication problem. There were too many mishaps to list here during our visit. One person in our party ordered water with no ice -- she got a glass of water full of ice. I ordered burritos and requested no cheese (can't eat dairy). You know where this is going . . . of course they had cheese on them. The veggie burritos I ordered (yes, the ones with cheese on them) were nothing more than sautéed vegetables wrapped in a tortilla. No beans, no rice, nothing else. The food was delivered to our table one plate at a time . . . literally. For example, a plate of fajitas consists of three plates: a skillet with the meat, seafood, etc; the warm tortillas wrapped in foil; and a plate of beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, etc. Each plate came out separately, so that the last person to be served at our table got their food 20 minutes after the first person received theirs. I always enjoy eating in shifts when I dine out with friends and family, don't you? I could go on with other examples of our experience at this dysfunctional restaurant, but the best advice is to simply take your business elsewhere. read more

My fiance and I were in the Smokey mountains for our 6 year anniversary and staying in Whittier, NC. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate and also enjoy some good food while we were here! We found this place on yelp, and at first we weren't sure this was what we were looking for. But looks are deceiving and so is the menu! The portions were HUGE and a small daquiri or a medium beer were more like a large at- home pour and was a STEAL for the price! We shared the fajitas for two and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were super friendly and super personable. They stopped at our table only a few times, but that was all that was needed. It was nice to see, too, that staff and customers knew each other. To me, it added to the pleasent, family-friendly atmosphere it had. Definitely recommend and we'll be back when we get married on the Blue Ridge Parkway next year!! read more

Absolutely love this place! We come every year for a car meet and this year stumbled upon this place and we loved it. We usually eat at Guyabitos in town and this restaurant is far better. Definitely come here as the food is fresh, authentic, and very flavorful. The service was wonderful and we will definitely be coming back. read more

Gosh, we really wanted to like La Poblana, but it was disappointing. They sit on a beautiful spot on the Tuckasegee River, but they have no windows on that side, and their patio is on the street side, no views at all. The service was decent, but the Texas margaritas tasted like lime jello with no tequila, and the food was just okay. There must be better Mexican in this area, but we haven't found it. read more

I am sitting here in this Mexican resturant and I must say- this is the best Mexican resturant to eat in Bryson City. The food is so good and fresh and you get more to eat than you can finish ( meaning you get a lot of food). The food is fantastic and the portions are grand.
