I love coming to eat here. The place doesn't look like much from outside but the food is great. I really like the carne asada. The portion size is huge and the flavor is so good. It comes with rice and beans and sweet plantains. The staff are very friendly and there's a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. For an appetizer we got some of the empanadas and they were really good with their sauces they have. I keep coming back here when I want some authentic Colombian food Update----- Was so disappointed when I came here today. The past 5 or so times I've been here the food was great. This time the food came out very fast so I was surprised. The steak wasn't very warm but I was hungry so I kept eating. When I got to the rice it seemed old as some of it was very hard and crunchy. Knocking down to 3 stars the review and I think the owners may have changed as I don't recognize some of the workers here now. Will update again if I end up eating here again. read more

Food was a home-style Colombian food. For someone not from the region, I'd say it's a decent price point for not having to cook at home. But for having tried Colombian food growing up, it was a bit lacking in seasoning. Nobody at our table was impressed with any dishes; again, decently cooked. Service was a bit slow, and the kid dishes surprisingly took the longest. We had to remind them several times of our Salchipapas (fried hot dogs with French fries) and when we finally got it, the fries were under cooked. We wondered if maybe they ran out and had to scramble to make some from scratch? They were still white and under done when our kids finally got their meal. They offered us a small bit of flan on the house as part of the "family meal" which was a nice touch. And the flan was good. I'd say go if you'd like to try Colombian food without having to pay much. A nice change from everyday food. I'd return if invited. Tostones were the best part of the meal. read more

Let me tell you how difficult it is to wait to review a place that you love. I had to wait about a week because I try to make myself go to someplace at least twice and get two different things before I review it. The first time, even though it was lunch, I found myself ordering a $12 meal (mind you there are plenty of $7 usual-lunch-price options). I got the "Mountain Platter" with pork really only because it seemed to have every single thing I love: Pork, chorizo, plantains, beans, rice, avocado, fried egg, corn bread and pork rinds. Yes, you get all that food for $12 (pictured). And yes, I did make a very hefty dent in it..just leaving some rice and beans behind. What were the highlights? A better question would be "What didn't do it for me?" and that answer would be "nothing." Everything was truly mind-blowing. I'd dare to say almost everything was better than where I had it elsewhere...I lie...Costa Rica was a BIT better... The second time I wondered how I could out-do myself and sadly I couldn't. I ordered the Bandeja La Pollera Colorado - clams, shrimp, scallops w cream, grilled beef and chicken w/ veggies and fries (pictured) for around $14. I had to try the seafood, so that's why I got it. Mind you, it was very delicious but I couldn't stop thinking about that mountain platter. The great news is that the consistency was still fantastic in the food prep, quality and taste. So you've made it here huh? What would be my take-aways that I can share with you? 1) Order the Mountain Platter (I'd suggest the pork) 2) If you don't order the mountain platter, and it doesn't come with it, order some avocado for the side. Trust me. 3) Plan to spend a bit of time as they cook everything fresh so it does take awhile but WELL worth it. 4) Skip the salad that comes w/ you meal...its really just a waste of lettuce. read more

Smack dab in the middle of someplace in Clearwater resides this wonderful Colombian paradise of food. It is nestled at the end of a strip mall, and you know you are there when you see the Colombian flag hanging out the side of the restaurant. Disclaimer, my wife (la Esposa) is Colombian, and we were recommended by friends to come eat here. We don't usually go to Colombian restaurants because, well she grew up with Colombian food, and her Mom and Aunt's can throw down some delicious Colombian cuisine. Oh, and I'm known to also be able to make some mean arepas, a la Gringo. Anyways, this review is about La Pollera Colorada, not my chef's talent, so here we go. My Wife arrived before me to the resturant by about 30 minutes with her friends. So by the time I got to their table, it looked as if Picada, Yucca, Potatoes, Rice and Fries has literally been consumed by an army of angry Colombians when I arrived. Needless to say it was my wife, two friends and their kids which were just a little Hangry and not angry :) I was quickly seated and asked what I would like to drink. I asked for water and was brought a bottle of water which was good. I'm a huge fan of Colombian Seafood dishes and was told that this place was really good for cooking up their specialties. I had the "Cazuela de Mariscos" which was a cream based soup with seemed as if it literally had about 2 pounds of seafood in it and a Lobster tail (which costs extra to add, but I opt'd for it!!!). It came with a good portion of rice and french fries on the side. It came out super hot (which soup should) and I literally was trying to eat it too fast it was that good. After eating all the shrimp, mussels, lobster, crab, etc that was in the soup, I was left full and satisfied. I couldn't eat all the fries, but in the yellow bottle on the table, Colombians make a "Salsa Rosada" that basically is a good mix of Ketchup + Mayo that you can eat with your fries. I highly recommend it. They also had a green salsa in a bottle on the table as well, which was a very spicy kinda like chimichurri sauce. In addition to the water, I also had some Refajo (Re-Fa-Ho) which is a mix of light beer and Colombiana soda. If you want something refreshing without a lot of alcohol content, I would recommend trying this as well. It's very good. For those Germans out there, it is similar to "Ein Radler" which is a mix of Beer and Lemonade...but Colombiana is more of a red-soda/ fruit taste. All-in-all, this is a great place if you like Colombian food or want to try something a little different. Don't be shy if you don't speak Spanish, the waitresses were plenty friendly and are willing to help. read more

I've had empanadas before but never like this -- the outside was crispy and light, not dense at all. The inside was savory and delicious. The Aguila beer is delicious. I felt bad that the restaurant was so empty, I hope that weekends are busy enough to sustain them because I will come back to this place very time I visit Clearwater. We were excited to try this Colombian restaurant based on the great reviews. We started with tostones con hugao which is a green plantain smashed and fried with a tomato based sauce. That appetizer was awesome. Next we shared a beef empanada which was disappointing since it was a bit overcooked and flavorless on the inside. For my entree I ordered the weekend soup which was sancocho with ribs along with a side of rice. It was good but not the best, I would rate it a 6.5/10. My fiancé ordered the pork ribs which came with rice and fries. He was quite disappointed with his choice leaving behind 1/3 of his meat. He complained the pork was not well seasoned and the quality of the meat was cheap. His fries were unsalted and just a bit undercooked. In the end we will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

Found this place online decided to check it out OMG had a wonderful experience very patient waitress named jelly! As we had lots of questions she answered them all and gave recommendations. I had the fried grouper platter it was phenomenal large flavorful! My friend got the shrimp and rice and we couldn't get over how many shrimp were in there! Prices were reasonable! Service is great.
