French Onion Soup Gratinee
Michael A.

Was in town for a conference and I am so glad that we chose to have dinner at Cafe Des Beaux-Arts! The decor and ambiance is quaint and cozy. Upon entry, our party of four (with a 5 and 6 year-old) were warmly greeted and promptly seated. We were given fresh, warm bread that the kiddos gladly gobbled up. We decided against the offered replenishment so as not to spoil their appetites. Every dish was so good and enjoyed by everyone in our group (yes, including the kids!) I rarely return to restaurants in areas I am visiting as I prefer to try new places, but I would definitely make an exception for Cafe Des Beaux-Arts. We also really appreciated the maitre'd accommodating our request to be moved so we could enjoy our dessert when an abundantly-perfumed group were seated next to us. The service, food, and overall experience were all top notch. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience!

My little family had the absolute best experience at this gem of a restaurant. We didn't have reservations but we had to try the best French restaurant in town so we tried our luck and we didn't have any problems getting a booth on a Sunday evening. We were greeted warmly by the host and our server showed attentiveness to our littles right away. Without being requested, the kids were given children friendly cups of water with their coloring sheets and crayons upon being seated. The menu had so many wonderful dishes and I wish I had a bigger stomach and appetite to enjoy a few dishes to myself! I opted for the seafood feuillette - a pastry filled with shrimp, scallops, and mushroom with lobster sauce and a side of saffron rice. It was savory and very filling! The seafood inside was very generous! My husband enjoyed his branzino and we also shared mussels as an appetizer! The kids shared linguine with grilled chicken. For dessert we shared a raspberry sherbet, Nutella & banana crepe, and profiteroles. Wow, everything was delicious! We were blown away with the flavors but what really made our experience a great one was the lovely staff! We cannot rave about our experience enough and we will definitely visit again to try other dishes the next time we're in town. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I had French onion soup which was amazing! The best I've had outside Paris! Then had shrimp freutille in lobster sauce in a pastry with saffron rice that was insanely good! My wife has shrimp crepe also wonderful! Daughter got chicken ravioli that she loved! Everything was amazing!

Staff very friendly and they seated us right away at a window seat. We ordered the Duck l'orange and coq au vin. Food potions were good and dishes were tasty. Place was busy and the noise level was average.

French cuisine at its finest. Cafe Des Beaux-Arts sounds like a cafe and art gallery. But it is a wonderful French restaurant with amazing food. We ate so well. The salad was beautifully made and the pear was perfectly ripe. The arugula (rocket) was lightly dusted with dressing, a nice touch. The duck was perfect and the evening was magnificent. The service is impressive and the ambiance was sweet and serene. Some art on the walls is for sale. This is a gem of a restaurant. After eating here, I considered eating here every night for the next few nights to try more on the menu. But alas, my boyfriend had plans to try other establishments. Tres bon.

This is a wonderful little French bistro located on a corner of El Paseo in Palm Desert. They have very minimal indoor seating, but the outdoor seating is cooled with fans and misters. It has a huge array of food selection. The menu is absolutely gorgeous and the food taste phenomenal. I highly recommend trying this place next time you're out this way.

The staff were laughing with each other as they were working and you could tell they like their job. I received a warm welcome and was presented with three different menus for all they have to offer. My server Jennifer was great to talk with about the wines, the owners, and the food. I enjoyed trying different cheeses along with a delicious Albariño wine. They had some fairly steady stream of customers, some were regulars and some were first-timers like me. Next time I will try one of the salads which I saw and it looked amazing. I have a feeling they will need to be expanding if the word gets out on how wonderful everything is. I added it to my list of stops whenever I am at my vacation place in Indian Wells. You should check them out!!

The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing French cuisine with creative and modern twists that make each dish feel distinctive. The beef tartare is a must-order for anyone who enjoys raw beef. Its flavor and texture are unlike any tartare I've had before. The beef is incredibly silky and smooth--almost pâté-like in consistency--while still retaining its freshness. Paired with their baguette, it creates a well-balanced and memorable bite. The elk was an ambitious choice, but it was executed exceptionally well. In fact, the chef mentioned that it is one of the dishes he is most proud of, and it is easy to see why. The dish paired elk cooked to a perfect level with a reduction sauce that didn't mask the taste of the meat. While the main courses were excellent, the desserts and side dishes did not quite reach the same standard. If those elements were elevated to match the quality and creativity of the restaurant's standout dishes, I could easily see this restaurant being worthy of a Michelin star.

At the Cole Hotel, with a nice view of people speeding into town on 111, but what will surprise you is the sophistication of the cooking and the friendliness of the waiter and the chef. We've had: - Perfect bread, crusty, crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. - Fabulous cocktails in heavy-bottomed glasses that let you know that you're royalty. - Cod that tastes like something you would get from Nobu. - French onion soup that might not be the cheesiest in the world, but the depth of flavor is amazing. - Rigatoni with a delicious sauce. - Desserts that have us melting. And more... It's truly a special place. I wish we could go every week, but it's not so impossibly priced that you can't go at least once a month. Freddie is always there with warmth and humor, and both gentlemen we've had as servers have been well informed and service-oriented. We never drive down this section of 111 when coming from Mission Lakes. We usually take Indian Canyon and then we turn on Vista Chino. For years, we have actually missed seeing this wonderful restaurant, but one day we just decided to explore and go a different way, and there it was. You can't miss that sign. We were in a mood for something good, and boy, did we find it. Freddie and his kitchen have our hearts.

Every visit is consistently incredible, and this time was no exception. We started with the Oktoberfest Pretzel and the Urnebes, and both were absolutely phenomenal. My daughter's boyfriend ordered the Lamb Chops, and they were fall-off-the-bone amazing--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I had the Spicy Gypsy Schnitzel Veal, and all I can say is wow. It was completely out of this world. The veal was perfectly prepared, and the spicy gypsy sauce took it to another level. And I can't leave out the Lemon Breeze. It is everything.
