The food and service sucked! We were a party of 12 split between 3 tables so it's not like a big hassle to take orders etc. my tale ordered, the next table ordered and after we got our food we noticed the kids table had not even had their orders taken. We got our food and it was terrible. Spinach and Brie salad with a sweet ketchup dressing. Strange and not so good. Two had the chicken tenders and it was anything but tender and little sauce. Lucky we had a salt shaker to add some flavor. The next table had a disorder and the replacement was inedible. Rubbery failed pork- still not what he ordered. Two ordered the prawns and chicken and it was also inedible. The kids liked their cheeseburgers but one of the kids ordered the veal and it smelled like dog piss on a blanket that's been in the garage for a month. Dessert was also bad. Four little puff pastry balls filled with cream and covered with at least a cup or two of cheap chocolate sauce. The crème brûlée was equally disgusting. The cheesecake was just ok. last night La Rita was a combination of a disinterested untrained staff, mediocre food and disjointed service. inside La Rita feels like it could be anywhere in the world as there's absolutely nothing that says "we are in Spain" . the menu is a combination of dishes from around the world without any planning or forethough. €70 dinner for two without starters and not much to drink is absurd! During my Barcelona trip, I went there twice. I went for lunch and it was three course meal for $13 euro. Not just for the price but the everything is so delicious. A couple days later, I went there again with three other people for dinner. Every one was fully satisfied with every meal. From starter to sweet. I would definately visit again. read more

Good value and the food was good. Overall rating of 4 star. Service was excellent. We ordered the Chef's set menu rather than the La Rita set menu due to better selection. For 4€ more, you can't go wrong. The free tapas includes patatas bravas and fried aubergine. The fried aubergine was a bit salty. For starter, we ordered soup and risotto and they were good. As for entree, we ordered the salted cod and duck confit and they were also good. Dessert was very good. It also included complimentary cookies which were made for Nov 1 All Saints celebration. We were staying at a hotel just a few blocks away and wanted something a little more substantial then tapas. We had walked by earlier in the day and noticed the appealing decor and stopped to check out the menu. After not being able to get reservations for the original restaurant we decided to give LaRita a try. I was very impressed. We were greeted and seated without any delay. The waitress was very friendly and had no issues understanding me, since I don't speak Spanish. I only drink ice tea which is not always easy to find when traveling through out Europe. She brought me a hot tea with a separate glass and ice. Awesome! I started with the hummus and pita bread which I might add was the best hummus that I have ever had. The only suggestion that I would offer is a few more pieces of the bread. It was paired with olives and cheese. Just delicious. My second selection was a field green salad with vegetables. The salad was very typical to what you would expect to get in the states. Although it included roasted corn with the vegetables and it too was delicious. For my entree I selected the aged beef with roasted rosemary potatoes and grilled peppers. The potatoes were very tasty and the beef had a small amount of crusted sea salt that again just pushed this dish over the top. I highly recommend you add LaRita to your list of dinning options when in Barcelona. read more

Well what to say about Rita? For sure I'll be coming here very often. "La Rita" is a friendly restaurant with very good nice Menu. For 10,30€ you can 2 courses + dessert, what a bargain for this price. Th menu changed everyday during weekdays and the options are quite good. It opens at 13:00 and be sure to be the first one arriving. At around 14:00 sometimes you have to wait 30 min for a table. The portions are not substantial but the 3 dishes menu will give enough energy for the rest of the day. Highly recommend during week days. read more

I stopped by La Rita today for an impromptu lunch with a friend when we noticed the sizable line out front. The pretty, green facade has caught my eye several times and we grabbed a table for the prix-fixe lunch and enjoyed our time. It was €10.30 for three courses, some bread and a drink and you certainly get your money's worth. The food was a little heavy and the service a little erratic but all in all it's a pretty good spot. A convenient, solid choice after some shopping on Passeig de Gracia or a stroll into Gaudi's houses. read more

Went to eat here from a recommendation from Rick Steve's tour guide. Place looks nice, friendly wait staff... the food however is atrocious. Both my mom and her husband ordered the steak which had no flavor, and they woke up extremely ill the next morning. I ordered a cod dish with onions that ended up a fried cod with fried onions and sauce that looked and tasted out of a can. The menu never said it was all fried, so I sent it back for a grilled cod dish with peas, and there was some sort of grey slop on it that looked like diarrhea and tasted that old socks. Im still not sure what that was. My sister is only one who ended up with an ok dish where she didn't become I'll which was the tuna tataki. The creme brulee was meh, and the fruit with chocolate looked like dog food. Will never come here again. read more

Very good lunch and tons of food for €10.85 fixed price menu. We got there right at 13:00 when it opened and snagged a table for 2 close to the window. Had to wait a several minutes while it seemed the locals were helped and got bread and orders in first. For the first course were a delicious white Catalan bean dish with sausage and a excellent rigatoni carbonara with small chunks of jamon - more like an Alfredo than carbonara but still good and both first courses would have been a whole meal at most spots in the US. Second course of baked bream (the whole enchilada fish!!) with potatoes and peppers was very good, mild fish and perfectly done (I love my seafood but get a little turned off by the whole thing) as well as a pork tenderloin which was pretty tough and in a brown gravy with bland white rice. Chicken next table looked like a better choice. Desserts were a cream Catalan, seemed a little heavy on the egg, along with profiteroles with a dark chocolate sauce - a good choice. Came with bread and a 1/4 liter wine each. So quite a few pluses, only one fairly major minus, but overall thumbs up and an equivalent amount of food anywhere else would have been $25 or more. read more

Went here after a recommendation from a local friend - a quiet Monday night, we were seated quickly but then it was 20 minutes before we even knew who our server was. The starters were fine - the nicoise soup and the baby octopus - but then the main courses were not good. The duck was tough inside with very greasy skin, the steak was even tougher and smothered in pepper sauce with very limp and greasy chips. An unassuming, yet wonderful restaurant on Carrer d'Aragó. The narrow room offers many tables for 2 or 4 guests, larger tables in the back. The menu offers a wide selection of starters and main dishes at very reasonable prices. I had the rucola salad and filet strips on couscous and curry sauce, others in the group had fish, steak and duck. Service was fast and attentive. House Rose was excellent. I had a beautiful fig and walnut salad, then fall-off-the-bone duck confit. He had broccoli soup with yoghurt, then the spinach cannelloni - humming to himself as I tried to steal bites. We didn't even make it to dessert - only coffee. We were wandering down the street and saw a queue of Spaniards waiting to fill this restaurant as it opened at 8,00. We thought it worth a try on that basis and were really pleased we did. Window seat in a packed but cool eating section which just got more popular as it went on. The patatas bravas and homous starters were just excellent as was the Savingnon Blanc. Main courses varied from fish to steaks and were served quickly so that more customers could be accommodated. We loved this restaurant :) read more
