This place came recommended by some friends who had been in Barcelona a year prior. In a less touristy part of the city, Peit is located on a quiet side street next to other hip and bustling restaurants. I came with a colleague from work and we started out with some wine and some petit four corn bread poppers. The Somm realized I was very interested in pairing my course with a few glasses, and was very helpful in making some options (staying local, obviously, went with a Rioja and then a Ribera Del Duero. Both were full bodied, great fruit and acid balanced. We moved onto complementary house soup. It was a delicate cauliflower soup with croutons and olive oil dressel. Our Somm popped in to give us a taste of a Montsant, which I'd never had before. Mineral driven and light. The course progressed with a simple oyster. No frills and then some cod fritters that were the fluffiest I'd had all week. Definitely a stand-out. The next dish were giant prawns, head-on but shell-off. While served in a cast-iron over salt, they were room-temp and delicious. For my main, I went with the oxtails served in gravy. They were fall-off the bone succulent and dellicous. My colleague got the veal which was also perfectly cooked and delicious! A few comments about a Michelin level restaurant. 1) We felt rushed the whole night. They only had two seatings and the place was not full, but we were pushed to order all our dishes immediately after sitting with very little input of what should go best with what, how many dishes, to order, etc.. 2) The services was very disjointed, we'd go long stretches w/o being checked on or a dish coming followed by a flurry of action and moving us through our dishes too quickly. 3.) The dishes were not 'beautiful' or well presented. Just not what I expected from a Michelin level restaurant. Overall, I was left underwhelmed on all levels. The staff were kind, and 2 or 3 dishes were delicious, but, in a city like Barcelona, you can get comparable experience for less. read more

I don't seek out restaurants based on Michelin stars, and I have eaten here once before they received their star. I have to be in the right frame of mind to go to a sophisticated place like this, but I have to say that it was one of the highlights of my trip to Barcelona. We had a group of 5, which seems to be big for many places like this. Still, we reserved a table and arrived promptly at what seemed to be "senior citizen hour" in Barcelona -- not that there were even older folks: there was NOBODY around at 8pm and the place didn't fill up until "normal" dinner time around 10pm. We ordered a round of drinks from the bar and a large sampling of appetizers to get started. These are not your typical Spanish tapas. They do offer the ubiquitous bread with tomato or sliced Iberian ham, but we'd had quite a bit of those at other places. No, here you have to go for the Foie gras over puffed pastry with caramelized apple and a little. Don't run away: it is like a fancy party in your mouth. Share the party with others! I don't normally order foie gras because I find it terribly rich and not my thing. However the sweetness of the caramelized apple and the crunch of the pastry go together so well that I have to recommend it. Just cut it into pieces for sharing. If that just isn't your thing, maybe try the fried eggs with pork belly and soufflé potatoes instead. If the foie gras is a fancy party, this one is like comfort food with a Michelin star. Cut into the egg and let the yolk run out into the potato, then get some of each with a bite of pork belly ... definitely more my speed: I could eat the whole plate, twice! For my entree, I had the baked monkfish with potatoes, ham and fried garlic. It was presented beautifully and had a good combination of flavors. I need to say that I prefer the roasted suckling pig with caramelized fruit that I had last time, but wanted to try something different. Save room for dessert. (Good Luck!) By the time they rolled the dessert cart out, I was too full to eat any more. I helped clean up some of the fantastic desserts that others ordered, so I can say that I don't think you can go wrong with anything there, if you have planned ahead like I did not. read more

Loved this Michelin starred restaurant. I've been to many and this was on par with the very best in the world. Reservations on the fork were surprisingly easy to make. Plenty of available reservations. By far my favorite meal in Barcelona so far. Food and wine was amazing and the multilingual staff were top notch. My favorites included their "free" duck liver starter, the fried egg with pork belly appetizer and olive oil was amazing. Everything was delicious but if I had to choose one complaint, the paella was a tad salty but still very good! read more

The decor matches any trending soho or San Fran restaurant but, the atmosphere is much more "stuffy". The host is warm and Very friendly which, is the exception to the rule and not the "norm". The food: We ordered the free range chicken. The delay to take our order was followed with an apology but, they only had one English menu ( this is not an issues as I'm fluent in Spanish) and the long wait to just get us a drink seems almost cultish. We received thin slices of pork grinds beautifully presented ( see pictures). This was average in taste ( think every restaurant in south beach). Second was the "pig ears". Just extremely salted. Then our entrees ( the chicken). It was just horrid; not only extremely salted but way under cooked. My plate ended with a deluded only red/bloody pool. The skin was perfectly crisp with beautiful grill marks. The service was arrogant and not warm. To end this experience we were handed a 380 euros bill. Mind you two cokes and two order of chicken. Again the apologies and delivered the "appropriate " bill. Maybe the planets aligned to provide "Murphy laws worst case" but, surely I can't imagine all of these issues are just a "fluke". read more

Not sure how we ended up with 1.5 orders of the foie puff pastry dish, but it wasn't something we wanted -- even a single order was slightly too much for our adventure challenged table. The waiter mumbled something as he dropped it off, but we were charged for 1.5 portions of it on the check. Ridiculous. Service was slow and abrupt. But the food, as always, was excellent. Maybe the cannelloni was a bit heavy and the foie was a touch too sweet, but this was one of the better meals I've had in Barcelona. Check your bill carefully and don't worry too much about the bad service -- not every country gets it right :P read more

I'm probably rounding up a little bit, but this place is definitely good. Lovely modern decor, helpful staff (who speak English, so no worries if you don't know Spanish or Catalan), and well prepared food. My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice place with authentic Catalonian dishes, and a certain online "Best Of" list sent us in this direction. We were not disappointed. We started with tomato soup, which turned out to be a very fresh, gourmet version of gazpacho (which is probably an acquired taste for most). Then my bf had the "Catalan style" cannelloni, while I had the meatballs and with cuttlefish (which is like a cross between firm tofu and squid, in terms of taste and texture). My dish was quite good, but the cannelloni was excellent. Then for dessert, we splurged* and got 2: strawberries and cream, plus creme catalan. The creme catalan was like creme brulee, but almost foamy -- really, really delicious and light. Overall, yes, it was an expensive meal (about 100 euro, when you include my water, my bf's wine, and his experimental glass of grappa) but we made our reservation via eltenedor.es (or thefork.com, I think is its English version) so we got 30% off, which made a nice dent. read more

What an excellent restaurant in Barcelona. My girlfriend said this was her favorite meal while we were in Barcelona (among many great restaurants!). I had the cuttlefish (best onions I've ever had in a dish) and she had monkfish. Our egg, potato, and pancetta appetizer was some of the most impressively made and presented food I've ever had. This is a bigger restaurant than Gresca. We walked in around 10 pm and were seated right away. Food was good.We were given free bread and some free appetizers and deserts as well.But there was a large service charge per person which Cervescia Catalana did not charge. read more

There are so many wonderful tapas places in Barcelona that this is just one of them. This place though is a huge tourist attraction for some reason. Maybe they advertise on travel magazines or cater to tour groups but everybody there was a tourist and the staff was very well versed in different languages. After a Flamenco show we headed to this place for tapas. We ordered an assortment of tapas on the menu. My favorite potato croquette was on the menu. After a couple cocktails on terrace at King Alfonzo Xlll terrace bar, I asked one of the staff for a recommendation for a restaurant for my group of four. Friday night, no reservations. Tough one. We were told to ask for "Paco" at the door. Needless to say our last night in Sevilla was fabulous. Everything from the wine, Entrees, to desserts was of fine quality and delicious. Excellent food but very poor service. We waited 20+ minutes to get our check, sitting at a completely empty table. Staff was actively ignoring us and then the hostess acted surprised when we finally managed to chase her down to ask to pay. We felt uncomfortable and unwanted. We have dined at many Michelin star restaurants and have only had a similar experience one other time, years ago... At a 1 Michelin star restaurant that is now long out of business. This was unacceptable and we will never return despite the good food. A shame. read more

Great little restaurant in an alley off La Rambla. Delicious food and great service. We ate an assortment of small plates - sobresetta on bread with honey, grilled artichoke hearts with romescu sauce, Iberian ham plus more - all delicious. This is a very good restaurant. It has a modern feel, while still maintaining a comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff was great. We sat near the kitchen, which was open and which I love doing. The kitchen staff calm and precise. We had a wonderful Muga. The bone marrow was good, but loses points because they only had a half serving left and supplemented it with oysters, which I found odd. The main course was pork and duck confit. The pork was fantastic but the duck was a bit too fatty for my taste. Nonetheless, I recommend this place for a comfortable and tasty meal. read more

Seriously the most amazing meal I had in Barcelona. The bone marrow with tartar was the best I've ever had anywhere- hands down.

The food was amazing. We only had several starters as we were already full afterwards. We had tuna salad, ham croquettes, steak tatar, olives filled with anchovies and tomato bread.
