Borderline 2.5 star, if not for the friendly waitress and healthy pours of our beverages. Slow food service for being 1 of 4 tables at 6:00pm on a Saturday. The music in the dining room abruptly stopped around 6:30pm and we spent the rest of the time listening to the symphony of kitchen clatter and calls for food pickup. Cheese plate starter was unremarkable. Shrimp appetizer on the website menu wasn't on dine in menu, but our server said we could order a side of the shrimp and it's the same, just a smaller portion. 3 tiiiiny shrimp for $7.00...cmon?! LAUGHABLE Also, price for shrimp side online, $6.00 Grilled romaine was underdressed and unimpressive in presentation, size and quality. Ordered a Chicken Fettuccini, asked to sub shrimp and pay the difference. I was billed $14 for the Chicken Fettuccini and $14! for shrimp sub $28!! Hahaha The only thing more ridiculous than a $28 pasta dish was the size of the "jumbo" shrimp. Embarrassingly small for restaurant grade quality. (Again, charged 2x$7, when menu said $6) When we requested our bill be adjusted to accurately reflect our order, we were credited $7 for one of the 2 orders of shrimp in the entree. Disappointing to walk into a nice restaurant and be told all the things they don't have available. I order tuna tartar as I've always wanted to try it. The very kind waitress regretfully tells me they are out of tuna. Then she says "it might be easier to tell you everything we are out of". Apparently they were also out of two types of steaks and the Osso Bucco, which was my entree order. This was very disappointing and really inexcusable. Then we finish our meals, which were excellent, but not what we wanted and ordered dessert. Two of my girls were super excited when they heard chocolate cake and both ordered. The waitress and bartender Joey :) were amazing. The wine/appetizers (meatballs, garlic bread) were amazing. We ordered salmon and the chicken fondue pizza. The salmon was good however, when the pizza came out- it was doughy in the middle- not to be confused with the cheese. I politely asked the waiter to pop in the oven for about 5 more minutes- which she was happy to do. Once it came back out , it was perfect and and I didn't need a knife to eat it anymore. We were seated at the bar which meant that we could hear the kitchen staff clearly. The chef made a rude comment about my request to reheat the pizza. Long story short, we requested a manager and another comment was made due to that. The manager rectified the situation immediately and both she and the waitress apologized immensely. I was impressed and thankful with how they handled this situation considering that was my first time in years sending something back. I typically just deal with it. I was a server before so I understand the conversations that are had behind the scenes but Chef Anthony was just plain rude. They have a sister restaurant called 3 West that we will def check out. I have been yearning for a better option for dinner and certainly have found one in La Riv. A Tuscan style italian restaurant with a wonderful wine menu and wood fired brick oven pizza. It IS a bit pricey but everything is fresh a bit pricey with those small but beautifully plated servings. The service was very good and helpful (Matter rocked!). The owner/chef was present and involved..introducing herself and engaging. We shared the aracini, bistecca alla Fiorentina (a-mazing) &finished with the pan dulce. Every dish made me happy! We've been coming to this place for a few years now and sadly have seen a decline not only in service but the food. Totally understand and appreciate that most businesses Are short staffed and with that find myself being more understanding. But the service or shall I say lack of we had the other night was awful. There were plenty of servers in fact it appeared that some new ones were following the veteran servers observing. We ordered appetizers and finished those and sat for close to 20 minutes and then our server came to finally take our meal order. We ordered the meatballs and they were dried out and tasted like they had been reheated a few times or old - they are usually delicious! Once our food arrived it was hard to overlook the servers long acrylic nail touching our food (needless to say we did not eat those potatoes) Throughout our dinner we never were offered refills and when we asked for them we never received them. We sat for 20-30 minutes after we finished our meals waiting for our server to come back and check if we would like anything for dessert but decided it was not meant to be so we asked another server for our check. All alone on a Sunday evening at 6:30, probably not very popular yet. Wine was usual, food slightly above average overall. Complimentary Bread and olive oil were nice starters. Sauteed shrimp was good but chicken marsala was a little chewy and sweet. Presentation was decent. Well groomed waitress and fair ambience but the restaurant could do better in terms of the class that comes to mind with the name. I had the plan Pizza Margherita, which is a basic pizza with cheese and basil. It was very good and cost $10+tax. It is cooked in a wood fired oven, so it had a nice crispy crust. The pizza is prepared similar to how they prepare pizza in Italy (i.e., light on the cheese with a crispy crust). They include freshly baked bread with your meal at no additional cost. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend La Riv. read more

I have nothing to say about their food because I didn't get the opportunity to try it, but I can speak to the incompetence and poor communication of the staff. Months ago, in January, I called La Riv Italian Cuisine to make reservations to elegantly celebrate a major family milestone happening in May. The lunch was to be on a Saturday. The hostess let me know that they were no longer open on Saturdays, but that because I called in advance, they COULD open as they typically did for reservations. Great!, I thought. She asked for my information, including the party size, and I told her very clearly it was between 5-6 people. She said everything was all set, and I was thrilled at the hospitality. Today, something--say, a hunch--just told me to check in on my reservation (which I'd had in my agenda as ON for this upcoming Saturday since January). When I called, not only did they not have my reservation saved, but they also told me that they do not open Saturdays for any parties of less than 20 people. Had I not called, my family and I would have shown up for this reservation to a closed restaurant. I'm stunned at the initial hostess who took down my information (or pretended to?), including my party size, and who assured me they'd be happy to serve us. So, here I am, less than a week before the event, with no reservations on the day of a college graduation in town. So upsetting. Customer service is just as important as food for any restaurant, which gives me little hope for this one. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants! They go above and beyond for their customers and I always have an amazing time. Their pasta is wonderful and made in house and the steaks are excellent! My favorite app is their Brussels sprouts which are awesome. They have an excellent wine list that that changes all the time, so if they are ever out of something they are always there will a great recommendation and selection. I recently had dinner with family for my husband and I's first dinner as husband and wife and they truly went above and beyond to make us feel special.
