this was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had the seating for a family of seven service was atrocious, I really don't blame the new server. He happened to be brand new first night, but the person training him failed miserably. Little known hidden gem on the Alsea Bay. Great view of the Bay, nice ambiance, friendly and very accommodating staff. The food was fresh, nicely prepared, and delicious. Very reasonably priced. Dinner was excellent, we highly recommend!! A little difficult to find, they are nestled in the Bayshore Beach Club Development, North side of the Bridge, turn left onto NW Bayshore and follow it down the hill past the stop sign. The location of this place is lovely - wonderful view of a bride. I ordered a glass of white wine, the bottle was obviously open for a while; it had a distinct raisin taste. My partner ordered Johnny Walker Black and was given Johnny Walker Red (after specifically asking if they had black). We ordered an appetizer of steamed clams - it was very bland and overcooked. We stayed at the Alsi resort and ate dinner at this restaurant. I gave it 4 stars only because it was very cold and had 2 fireplaces and not one was lit. The food, especially the clam chowder was excellent. The waitress was friendly but did forget my husband's beer. Not a problem since it we knew she was busy. The restaurant is worth the visit but will never stay at this hotel again. Severe deferred maintenance and very dated. read more

We then had the clam chowder and a caesar salad, they were perfect. Then we shared a crab and scallops curry, it was amazingly tasty and good. OMG this was a great experience. The food was mouthwatering and the staff was friendly and on top of it. I had the Chateau Briand in a Bordelaise.... beef tenderloin in a red wine glaze . My honey had the New York Steak and Prawns (I stole two prawns) it had a white wine creamy sauce. So good. Taisa was our server/bartender she was fabulous. We also had the Clam Chowder to start. Flavorful and fully loaded. Not your everyday day chowder. And for dessert we had a slice of cheesecake with a strawberry syrup. We are bloated and happy. Son and I were staying at the hotel for the night and went down at 8:30 to get an order of fries. This was a Saturday and hours were until 9 p.m. but the rude gal said they had quit serving food cause they were backed up an hour and 45 minutes...well, there were only 6 people in the restaurant and I said you can't even do an order of fries in the fryer for 10 minutes and she said if I wanted a wait an hour and 45 minutes! Absolutely pathetic but no surprise for a coastal town and the coasties that don't give a shit about the tourists that their businesses rely on to survive...they're all the same! read more

My wife and I went to Waves when we came to Waldport over four years ago and had a wonderful dining experience. The food was excellent and the chef even fixed my girlfriend a gluten free meal that was delicious. After moving to Waldport we continued to patronize Waves for the extensive menu, fine cuisine, friendly service and of course the beautiful view. We enjoyed Waves so much we talked it up to our neighbors and went there for dinner with them on Thursday 9/29/2022. What a total disappointment. There was one server there and we were handed menus that looked like they had come out of a printer and had been handled by dirty hands. The menu consisted of what I consider bar food and offered mostly fried food. We all opted for the shrimp and fish basket with fries and my wife and I asked for the fries crispy. After we ordered we were asked to pass the menus to the table next to us which had just been seated. The server messed up the order of the tickets and we sat for an hour waiting for our food while the people who had come in after us got served. The food finally came and was wretched with limp, soggy fries that were undercooked and one piece of my fish was inedible as it had a bone and muscle running down the center and I couldn't cut it or bite into it. Needless to say we were mortified after talking this place up to our neighbors and all of us had digestive issues for several days after eating food that either wasn't stored properly or cooked in oil that hadn't been changed. That's our last meal there because that was the worst meal we've ever had eating out. I understand Waves and the Alsi Resort, that Waves is affiliated with, are under new ownership and they need to close Waves until they get their act together. We've eaten our last meal there as Waves isn't even a shadow of what it once was. read more

Friendly servers, trying to pull it together. Two for dinner, she had scallop and crab curry; I had cup of chowder and steamer clams appetizer. Server told us "two people on the kitchen, may take a few to arrive, thanks in advance for your patience." Odd to lead with, but cool to be honest. Steamer clams spilled on delivery, plate broke and shards of glass hit and cut my hand. I got peroxide and a bandaid from server, went to bathroom to clean up. Servers were concernaccidents happen, my wife had her meal 15 minutes before I got chowder originally ordered - manager never even came by, servers worked to try and make it right. I didn't ask for anything free, nothing was offered. Our server took it upon himself to bring me a refill on my cocktail, would have been nice to know management cared. Unfortunately not a great experience here tonight. Can't recommend. read more

What an amazing gym this is. Many years ago this location was a hotel that I think was called the Bayview or Bayshore in. It close for a while and now it appears to of been revitalized with an amazing restaurant. I don't know who the chef is but he nailed it 100% on everything we ordered. The view of the bay and the bridge is beautiful the decoration is understated and elegant and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My husband had a yellow curry which was an amazing blend of pineapple and coconut and seafood. It was then just right. I had a traditional fish and chips also amazing. They brought out cheese rolls first which word delicate and flaky and oh so good. Who has a nice variety and it was hard to make a decision on what to choose. I think honestly the most astonishing part was the bill with drinks meals and an appetizer it came to under $60. Other places on the coast were much more expensive and much less well done. Take some time drive down into Bayshore and have lunch or dinner or breakfast or something at this restaurant it's worth the detour. read more

i really wish I didn't have to give just 2 stars but... I've eaten here several times over the years and it was pretty good. I know the new owner is trying but this place has a way to go. the menu is very small and not a lot of choices. So, I tried the chicken wings and I'm sorry to say they were not very good. they were rubbery ( which I think they were using frozen). The Caesar salad was good but needs croutons. my friends had the fish and chips and said they were good. The service was really good though. I think if they could improve on the menu, it might make it. A few more choices with maybe a chicken, or fish and another meat would improve it. I really hoping that they make it because the restaurant is really nice and so is the bar. The view is great too. Maybe a couple more innovative meals to make them stand out would be helpful too as there's really no nice restaurants except this one in waldport. read more

We stayed at a rental just down the street & we were delighted to find a place that has veggie options & quality food within walking difference. The Casear salad was great & the pasta was good but I would describe the Creamy Pesto as more of a pesto-y Alfredo. Still really good tho & the staff was friendly & the view was beautiful. However, what I'll be craving from time to time & what will ultimately bring me back here someday is the Bananas Foster! Service/food were a little slow, but pleasantly unhurried rather than bad. The Cobb salad was not a traditional Cobb salad but it was a very good combination of ingredients. I have perhaps been to WAVES 6 times since April of this year. The service has been in the 3-5 range each time I have been there and it has progressively gotten better over the summer. I have had the caesar salad nearly every time & find it very fresh, crisp & perfectly dressed. I devoured the steamed clams three times & always find them very nicely prepared in a delicious sauce. In May, I tried the ceviche & found it scrumptious ~ lots of lime, avocado, fresh herbs & a nice variety of fresh seafood. Last week, I had a cup of onion soup & enjoyed it very much ~ it had a nice pastry baked on top of the broth. Please see the pic of the seafood fettuccine I just posted on this site today ~ it and the encrusted salmon are my favorite entrees at WAVES. I also posted a pic of the chateaubriand. We live a few miles away, in Yachats, and have watched this place go through many changes over the years, but now the current operators are really doing a great job. The food is fresh and artfully prepared, and everything we've ordered in several visits has been delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is great, the view of Alsea Bay is stunning from the lounge as well as the main dining area, and while I'm at it, I should mention the drinks are excellent as well! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is there is a little trick to finding it in the midst of the Bayshore development, which is probably why they aren't packed to the gills every night. As much as I'd like to keep this place our little "locals secret", however, they deserve more folks making that turn at the convenience store just north of the Waldport Bridge and following the main road down to the bottom of the hill. It really isn't that hard to find! So consider this a five star review after all! read more

Ate here 2 times within the last 4 months while we have gone to Waldport looking for real estate. The food has been amazing. The seafood fettichini is to die for. Absolutely delicious ! The kids pizzas are the size of a small "normal" pizza so the kids always have left overs. The service is friendly and the cook is very accommodating.
