Such a friendly small business owner and operator at this classic local restaurant! The service was impeccable! He (owner/operator) even gave me a free item! It is in my pictures with my three slices of pie! The didn't have the tomato pie nor the cheesesteak pie when I visited at the end of the day. I got the sweet peppers pie ( my personal favorite! 10/10 for sure) so flavorful! I also got classic pepperoni which was my second favorite! 9/10 only because the sweet peppers slice was more flavorful and unique. Lastly I got the sausage slice, maybe because it was the last slice I tried and I was already full, it was not as tasty as the other two. It was a tad more cooked resulting in a little drier too. I'm glad I got to taste items from this local gemstone and I most definitely recommend you try it if ever you are in the area! Oh yeah portion wise, one slice is equivalent to two slices of California's pizzas and this place was so incredibly affordable too! I paid $10.50 for three huge slices! Check out my photos too!

I could not wait to sink my teeth into these!!! I had a dentist appt yesterday, and with a good clean bill of teeth health again, I wanted to finally go to La Rosa Pizza. Besides, JL Jupiter featuring them 4 yrs ago and people raving about the white potato pizza, this place has been around South Philly forever. Like childhood forever, and I never been until yesterday. The price for these was mind-blowing in a good way because I was not expecting it. I may just have to come back every 2 wks to get 2 slices of white potato and one plain and sausage. Omg and the bread rolls! For a small was the size of half an oven mitt. Staff was friendly and the white potato they didn't have any, but we're making it off you could wait. It's worth fighting your way through Broad and Snyder.

I haven't reviewed this place in 9 years. Time for an update. And I've decided they need more love. Back story... my late Uncle Rich introduced me to this place years ago. I've been back a few times over the years. Always loved it. I just love the flavor and texture here. When I'm in the mood for square pie, this is a favorite. I wish I got down here more often. I should. But the biggest reason I upgraded it to 5 stars is that my 6 year old boy housed an entire slice with pepperoni and asked for seconds. Pic is for proof. He ate more than me. But I blame my weight loss surgery. Still, when I want a good slice I want what i love. And La Rosa is pizza I can crave. 8.4 on the Dave Portnoy scale. It's not Angelo's or Tacconelli's. But it doesn't have to be. And three huge slices, two with toppings for $7.25 is a bargain.

This is a quality pie for an affordable price! These are thick crust pies, which I love. The cheese was perfectly broiled and the sauce was delicious- great combo of herbs and tomatoes. You get 6 slices per pie, although I'm sure they can cut it into smaller pieces if you'd like. Great spot to get your pizza fix in South Philly!

This pizza was soooooooo delicious! Just try it for yourself. Very large slices and the sausage and pepperoni had it going on! Would not hesitate to purchase this again whenever we're in the Philadelphia area.

DISCLAIMER: They have only been rated one star so this review could be posted. But I would give zero stars if I could. We have recently moved to area and were looking for some original pizza from a local place to order from. The reviews said it was some of the "best pizza" they have had, and I don't think those people know what real pizza is. We waited over 2 hours for two very small "large" pizzas - only 6 slices, though each pizza was $25. Not only did the pizza get to our door cold (we are assuming they forgot to actually send it out for delivery UNTIL AFTER we had to call the store and we still had to wait 30 minutes after that). To add insult to injury, they forgot to include our sodas. A total of $65 for nothing special. The pizza was cold, the meat lovers only had sausage, and the pizza barely had any sauce. In short, it was cheesy bread with veggies. We are super disappointed with our experience and will not be ordering from this place ever again. Frozen pizza from Dominos tastes much better.

I wanted to get there soon after they opened so we wouldn't have to wait a long time, but we slept in and didn't make it until around 11:40 am. We waited in line less than 10 minutes and we placed our electronic order. We requested two traditional cheesesteaks and a pepperoni pizza. Then we left and walked around the neighborhood a little. We found a place nearby to sit and waited for the text message indicating our food was ready. Not long after, we got the text message. I headed to back to the restaurant and stood in a short second line to pay. Once I paid, we grabbed our food and drinks and went back to our spot. Lots of people were sitting around eating and raving about the food. The sandwiches were large and heavy. The first bite was incredible. The flavors of the bread, cheese, and steak hit you. They were very rich and decadent. It was a delicious cheesesteak. The bread was of the highest quality. I don't think the sesame seeds were necessary, but they do convey quality from the housemade bread. The cheesesteak was incredible and very filling. I only ate half of one, since they were so big. The pepperoni pizza was also incredible. It's one of the best that I've had. The undercarriage of the slices were crispy and thin. The flavors were excellent. The quality was excellent. I wish I had this pizza in my neighborhood. The system they have set up is quick and efficient. They serve a massive amount of food in a short amount of time. There were a bunhc of employees cranking out sandwiches just behind the counter. Very well run. Very well done.

While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

EXCELLENT LATE-NIGHT STOP! MUST TRY!…read more We walked in about an hour before closing on a Thursday night--never an ideal entrance. You know the look. The polite smile that says "it's fine" while the eyes say "it is absolutely not." Totally understandable. No one loves a near-close order. I even acknowledged it out loud--apologized, explained we weren't from the area, and that we were just trying to grab a quick bite because it was one of the few places still open. She said it was okay. Her face said otherwise. Fair enough. Here's where it turned around. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and legitimately impressive. Not "good for late night" good--just plain good. Every bite was fresh, the ingredients tasted clean, and the pizza clearly hadn't been rushed or phoned in despite the timing. Hunger probably helped, but even factoring that out, this was a standout. Honestly, I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one to go before leaving the city. That's how good it was. We did try to get drinks, but were told the soda machine was down. The nozzles were off, so I'm guessing it was a cleaning/end-of-night thing. I won't ding them for it--though let's be real, tossing nozzles in sanitizer isn't exactly a marathon. Still, not a deal-breaker. Restaurant was clean, but of course, they were near closing. I tipped her a few bucks for staying late, and left genuinely satisfied. Bottom line: the food carried this experience completely. If you're visiting Philadelphia and need a reliable, fresh, late-night bite, &Pizza is absolutely worth the stop. Sometimes the places you expect the least end up delivering the most. I plan to 100000% return (and it'll probably be near closing time again, too)
