I came here to get some waxing done before my vegas trip. Let's just say I hate waxing, but Julianne really put me at ease. I'm not sure which wax she used cuz it's not the color wax that other places use. She told me that it was for sensitive skin. Anyways, although my initial reaction was to squirm, this was the best waxing experience I've ever had. It didn't hurt or leave any redness on my skin. I love Pat, I came to him on my birthday in desperate need of a hair cut. I shaved the side of my head and was somewhere in the middle of growing that out. Before meeting Pat, I went to a few others hair dressers and they all left me looking awful. Pat, immediately recognized how badly I needed a cut and made time for me in between appointments. Once he started the cut I could sense he was very experienced and had a vision for how to improve my cut. I was right, he did an amazing job and I walked out looking better than I had all year. I have been getting my hair cut and dyed by Erein at La Salon for a few years now. (I'm sorry for waiting so long to post a review.) She is an absolute sweetheart and does a great job cutting my difficult hair. (I have long, thick, curly, wavy hair which is prone to being bushy and frizzy.) She lets me bring in my own henna powder dye and mixes it with hot water and all and is very meticulous about applying it very evenly and thoroughly. The salon is very upscale, clean and nice and everyone there is very warm, friendly and gracious. There is a large parking lot behind the Glendale Marketplace that validates for 90 minutes. 4:45 yesterday, I walk in without an appt and ask how quickly they can trim my hair, which is the long with long layers with a little more layering in the front. Patrick said 45 min if we have two people blowdry your hair. I told him that we could skip the blowdry because I had to meet a friend for dinner at 5/5:15 right around the corner. I was out of there paid with nicely styled hair by 5:10. Amazing. I will be going back, and that's a first for a hair salon since I've moved to LA. Came here about 2 months ago and asked Pat to do balayage to my dark hair, showed him pictures of what i wanted and trusted him to achieve that since he had pictures on yelp of how i wanted my hair and he said it'll be 200$ which i was okay with. After being there for several hours until closing time i left the salon with wet hair thinking my hair was how i wanted it and when it dried it would look nice after styling. When i got home most of my hair had dried and it was orange and very stringy and plastic feeling. My hair became very dry and puffy and felt like strings of orange plastic, which is when i realized my hair was completely ruined. Only the top of my hair was darker, near the roots, and if u know about balayage that is the furthest thing from how it's supposed to look. So i was literally crying and so frustrated that i just wasted so much money to look like I'm wearing a clown wig. I went back and was almost crying letting Pat know that i am so disappointed and want a refund. He said my hair looks how it usually does after u leave a salon and only that the color was bad. I asked him to admit how bad it was and that he messed up he said the colors bad but i didn't mess up that's how it's suppose to turn out after doing balayage. Anyways he never gave me a refund and said he couldn't do that, he tried fixing my hair that day and it still looked bad after it turned orange again. So ya, I've had to buy so many treatments to try to help my hair get back to it's healthy state. I'm dying it back to a solid color and am so disappointed that i wasted my money at a salon who obviously didn't know what they were doing. I should have at least gotten a refund for the amount of time and money i wasted not only at La Salon but with all the treatments i had to purchase afterwards. I always made fun of the overpriced LA Brazilian blow-outs. . Until I went to La Salon! Not only are their prices reasonable, but the professionalism & work ethic of these estheticians is amazing! Everyone works together so well and with a positive attitude. They don't try to sell sell sell but will seriously do best for your needs!... Patrick is the owner of the place and his staff are just as professional as he is, very friendly, clean, smilie, plus they do a really good job, from hair cuts to mani pedi and hair treatments like keratin, they use Aveda products. Sometimes is a bit hard to catch Patrick but as long as you make an appointment then it should be just fine, also there is parking near by and is in a very centric location, ladies if you are looking for good quality and nice friendly staff you should come to "La Salon" highly recommended! La Salon is the only place I go to get my haircut. My family has been going there for 4 generations - my great grandma, grandma, mom and myself; along with my aunts, uncles and cousins as well! I made the mistake of trying the best rated salon in my town when I went away to college and it was a mistake. Since then I was sure to call ahead and make appointments at La Salon when I knew I would be home. Pat, the owner, is amazing but I have also had my hair and nails done by everyone else there and am never disappointed! The people there are great, its definitely worth trying if you are on the hunt for a new salon! The salon is always clean and the set up is nice and open. It is very inviting and easy to spend your time there! Not only is it a hair salon but they also offer several other services like waxing, facials, and eyebrow tinting to name a few. Since that time, Pat opened La Salon and has greatly expanded the services available. I first went to La Salon 4 years ago for my rehearsal wedding hair up-do. Pat's salon is not open on Sunday but he was kind enough to make an exception as I was married on a Sunday. One of his assistants, Erin, helped and she is so great! My hair looked amazing and I was also excited to find pretty hair accessories there to use. I went back to Pat after my wedding to get my hair highlighted and cut as I had been growing it out for my wedding. Pat does not use harsh bleaching chemicals for hair color. Pat is a wonderful stylist and he is super friendly. The only reason I didn't give La Salon 5 stars is due to Pat's multitasking. I understand that is part of the job but I feel less important when he boots me out of his chair to "cook" while he starts on another client. I feel like I have to wait forever to get back into his chair to finish my hair cut. From start to finish, I'm usually there for 2-2.5 hours! I feel that is too long and I have since started going to a faster and cheaper salon. No, the new place isn't as good as Pat but they are faster, which clearly is more important to me. His price is on par with salons in the mall, which is about $40 for a haircut and for my short hair, $75 for highlights. (It's been awhile but I think those are approximately the prices. I remember paying around $125 but I can't remember if that includes what I tipped.) La Salon is GREAT if you have time to spare. read more

They called the police because a dissatisfied customer refused to pay full price for incomplete and inadequate service. But before that, and while they waited for the police to arrive, they called the customer and her daughter (me), Armenian-Americans who have lived in this beautiful country for over 20 years, "Gypsies," reminded us that "This is America," threatened to have their "Teamster friends give us a visit," and wrote down the word "trash" on a piece of paper in our view. (I don't mean to suggest that I stood there helpless; I gave them an earful even though I didn't lower myself to their standards - no cussing, racist/derogatory comments, or lame insults from me). Need I say more? Perhaps not, but for the sake of exposing the absolutely obnoxious, unprofessional, and rude behavior of multiple employees there (who ganged up on us), I will provide more detail: I called in to inquire the price of a mani-pedi, and was told $35 (I assumed this was a discounted rate for doing both, but later learned that their pricing sheet listed a spa pedi at $25 and a mani at $10). I made an appointment for my mom. During my mom's pedicure, the employee complained multiple times about being tired. Her body language confirmed her discomfort and displeasure at having to do the work. She did a very poor job overall, and had to be reminded to finish a few toes. At the end, all toes got two coats, but several were patchy and uneven. Ultimately, the worst pedicure my mom had ever received. Before the manicure, the employee told my mom that she didn't like to do manicures. Just what every customer wants to hear, right? So what can my mom do but request that she stop and that another employee start her manicure. The man at the front desk told her that no one else was available at the time and that she could come back in a few hours. My mom said she did not have time to wait and was not going to come back. He told her she owed $25 for the pedicure. I told him we would not pay the full amount for a pedi alone because it was not done well and we were expecting a packaged deal. He then said $20, which I still deemed unfair because half the job was done, and it wasn't a good half at that. I told him I would give him $10, expecting that he might ultimately convince me to split the difference. What I got instead was an agitated and angry threat to call the police. I thought, "How desperate," (among other things) and then said "go ahead." Long story short, there was huge scene -- a lot of loud arguing back and forth, police involvement, and they got their $20 (not because I thought they were right--or that the police settled the dispute appropriately--but just to put an end to the ridiculous ordeal). What a great way to do business, right? Meanwhile the customers already in the salon, and those coming in, had the pleasure of experiencing this dramatic scene. I'm sure most would have paid $10 just to see the show. read more

I agree 100% with Gianna. I am also a customer of LA Salon and was present the day of the incident mentioned. My daughter and I have been customers for 6 years now and have never encountered any issues. As for the comments about discrimination, that is complete nonsense. LA Salon employs people from alll backgrounds, is in the heart of a community rich with culture and people from all over the world. As a matter of fact, it contains a huge population of an array of Armenian/Armenian-American people. That comment is far from the truth. The woman who has complained was fully advised of the price for manicure/pedicure and had plenty of opportunity to decide not to complete the service. Her behavior was unacceptable, uncivil to an extent, it was practically violent. Anyone who claims to be a lawyer would know that it could be identified as assult. She definately gave everyone an "earful" as she screamed like a banshee refusing to pay for a service provided that she fully accepted. read more

I went here for the first time a month ago and got a great gel manicure. I came back a second time a few days ago and it was the complete opposite of my first experience. I wanted to keep my nails long but they ended up short because the person doing my nails kept filing them down and making them crooked. You know a manicure is going extremely wrong when you have to file your own nails. While painting my nails, he missed the sides. It's been a week and my nails are chipped all over. The man doing my nails the second time was very sweet, but I don't think I'll ever be coming back here. Which is upsetting because I just moved here and decided that this was going to be my permanent spot to get my nails done. Now it's back to looking for a new shop. read more

Once I decided to try this salon and I realized that this is the place I have been looking for. I get my hair cut by the owner but I heard that all his staff is great. I just didn't want to experiment any more because I have been experimenting 10 years and nothing good.This is very talented hair stylist - he knows very well what he is doing, he will advise you how to take care of the hair and the most important for me-- he does great layers -- and all he does is depending on your hair-- my hair is extremely thin so it is very important what kind of layers will be done so on the end to have more volume and to look good. I can not speak enough to express my gratitude that this man really knows how to do what he does.He is just great!!!!! I moved recently to Downey but I will keep going to him even it is very far away from where I live now - I just don't believe I can find easy such good hair stylist like him. read more

But recently I went in and said I needed a change and I wanted to go really short! Well he said "you've come to the right place!". Pat is amazing with a pair of scissors. He gave me such a cute cut that really fit my face and I've been getting compliments from friends and strangers alike ever since. His staff is always friendly and polite and his new salon (yes I've been a customer since the old days in a much smaller facility) is just beautiful and very relaxing.
