Chicken Exquisito
Thomas T.

The restaurant has ample parking in the front and rear of the buiding. This place is very popular with the locals and the ambience is classy and dated. Service is excellent and we loved our waitress. For the bread, definitely ask for the dipping sauce over the butter. It brings it to the next level. The oysters Rockefeller came out extremely hot and was an interesting appetizer. I got the chicken exquisito, it isn't something I would get again with the brandy taste strong for my tastes. The ravioli side that came with it was delicious and I'll get that as a meal next. The cannoli and spumoni were very good and is comparable to any good bakery. Cash Only, there's an ATM located in the restaurant.

I've been to this place a lot of times but last night was my best meal. The appetizer meatballs in marinara and stuffed eggplant was on point. Now the wine we had was paired perfect with my meal. Now the others they got a chicken and shrimp dish didn't pay much attention to their meal but they said it was delicious. I got the chicken boca and ravioli. Best decision Now the desert, the cannoli was filled with there recipe. And the lemon desert if I known it was that good I would have gotten my own lol

Things I liked: - Cool rustic aesthetic outside, classic romantic decor inside. - Very good prices--meals starting at $15, apps starting at $12. - Large portions--I'm not sure who on this planet could finish a whole meal in one sitting here. Things they can improve: - Two our dishes were dirty when we sat down. - Our server had been working there for one week. She didn't let us know until my mother asked about an item on the menu and she had to double check. She could have mentioned that when introducing herself. - My mother asked for dressing on the side, but they put it on the salad. - I waited for the server to return to the table say thanks before I left. I was walking to my car outside and she flagged me down to make sure I paid as someone earlier that day didn't pay. They don't take card, and I definitely placed the cash directly under the receipt. I ordered the ziti as my entree and meatballs as an appetizer. Both were okay but very filling. My mother really enjoyed her shrimp dish. Overall a decent restaurant, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back if someone else suggested going here.

Been here 3 time in different occasions. The first time was ok the last 2 times was not good at all... the host and hostess is very accommodating. The service is just not up to par. It's a cash only restaurant which is fine and there is an ATM machine on site just incase . The portions are fairly generous. The mix drinks needs more work, so I stop having mix drinks there and stick with wine. The food is on a salty side. The restaurant is old so it can use some updates to bring it to life again. The ambiance is family style dining for sure

Wonderful service and really good prices. I suggest making a reservation for Friday nights. This place is cash only also. I want to return to try different menu options next time!

If you get the meatball pot make sure you get the ricotta cheese

The service was excellent and the servings are very large but the food is mediocre. It was simply okay.

Was not happy at all, had the Alfredo and it was not good. The food was very expensive for the quality and quantity. Eat somewhere else.

What a delicious and affordable gem of an Italian place!…read more I've visited 3x in 3 months, and Brava Cucina always hits the mark. Logistics: garbage parking is free, convenient, and available- we missed it the first time! Streetside was easy too. Ambience: perfect for a gathering with friends or a professional meal or even a date night! Music is at a tasteful volume Value: Unbelievable. $36 for an a foccacia, app, and entree is such a steal in this economy; available every day! The entree portions were sizeable as well! Food: everything from the focaccia to the salads, pastas, pork milanese, desserts, and drinks were wonderful. Speedy and kind service. Would highly recommend coming in a crew to try as many menu items!

Josh was chatty and super friendly but soon got slammed (he doubled as waitstaff?) so you might not get his full attention as things get busy. All the Staff is lovely. Loved the meatballs, broccolini, melon & prosciutto, Verdi salad and grilled bread. My salmon entree was yummy. My date's pork Milanese was crispy and juicy. If you are looking for diabetic friendly sides to swap, not so many options. Everything was delicious. I tried the zero proof Buona Sera and it didn't agree with me so they swapped it out for a real espresso martini. The low ABV bicycle thief was delightful!

First, our server Kelsea was great! She was very accommodating with wine tasting for my girlfriend,…read morefriendly, attentive, got our special request for fries extra crispy done (not always done when asked for at other restaurants), got us requested bread & butter for the leftover Fra Diavolo sauce and was all around very pleasant. She helped make the night a really good time out. My gf and I split the Fra Diavalo and the Burger. The Fra Diavolo as excellent in terms of taste, al dente buccatini (serious chew) and the seafood. What we didn't understand was why we got so little pasta in the dish. To be honest, it seemed like we got half an order of the buccatini which was a shame since the shellfish was great, sauce was great and again, pasta cooked perfectly. We will make sure to ask for more when we return. The focaccia and butter to mop up the remaining sauce at the end was phenomenal. We will probably try to order meatballs, sauce and bread & butter next time. It should be on the menu. The burger was also excellent. The burger itself was extremely tasty, I hope they don't move to cheaper beef due to rising prices. Add a dollar if you need to. Overall, a great night. I will say I think the deserts are a little pricey. We really wanted the baked Alaska but $14 seemed a little high. At $12 we would have ordered it. A mental thing I guess since the overall meal we thought was worth every penny.

The process is easy- you're given a card when you arrive that tracks which wines you pour. There is a nice selection of white and red wines from many regions. Stopped in here on a whim with a friend and we both enjoyed the novelty of the self-serve aspect,…read moreand found a couple wines we really liked. While I can appreciate the choose your own adventure / tasting concept and benefits of moving at your own pace, wine tasting is something where I'd prefer to have more of a personal touch. The storytelling and personal connection was missing, and made the experience feel a bit hollow. The space was a nice open hang and there's snacks and games, and there is staff there, but the experience made me realize I prefer a guided human tour for some things, wine tasting being one of them. Prices also snuck up on us a bit, it's easy to lose count of how many you've had with the card reader. I was also a bit bummed to find that if you liked a wine you cannot purchase a bottle on site. But I'm glad I tried it and had fun.

You must order the kale salad. I am not a kale salad person, yet I have dined here three times in…read morethe last week to eat the kale salad and am already planning my next visit. You know when you're eating a kale salad and the pieces are too big and you're kind of cramming them into your mouth and then the salad dressing is all over your face? This is NOT that salad! The kale is perfectly chopped so you can enjoy it with just your fork as you talk to your friend/spouse/date or just read your book. The dressing is such perfection, and the perfect amount, no gloopiness here! Crunchy breadcrumbs add magical texture and then there's a shower of finely grated gouda cheese on top. Have you ever read a good book and as you're reading it, you're so into it that you don't want it to end? So you slow down your reading speed to make it last a little longer? That's how I feel about this salad. There are other delicious items on the menu, I saw someone eating the burger that looked so good, I also want to try the Brussels but the call of the salad siren is too strong. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, especially Catherine, and the kitchen team even shared the dressing recipe with me. Excellent wine list, casual and cozy space with twinkle lights, a lot of bar/counter seating, great date spot. Also attached/sister company to American Provisions I believe (great spot in Southie for sandwiches, cheeses, wines, pastries, rare food items).

And the FOOD, the food is exquisite. My favorite time to go is on Tuesdays for the $1 oyster deal, definitely my favorite $1 oyster deal in the city. They mostly have small plates and a few large plates, but you seriously can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And the wine options, amazinggggggg. Gray's is a true gem!
