Disappointing! Was looking forward to a delicious Cuban meal out and what I found was stale bread, a salad of mostly lettuce and a large plate of yellow rice with a small steak for a large price! Went this evening with my husband, he had the Arroz con Pollo, more rice than chicken. He stated while the chicken was moist it has no flavor. I had the Filete LaSeptima again the plate was 3/4 rice! I also had two glasses of white sangria, which I believe were watered down and even though the online menu states $3. sangrias I was charged $4.95 a piece for. The worst Cuban food I've ever had! The cook has no clue what Cuban food taste like. I was disappointed with the mojito, the pork was not fresh and it tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave. My fiancee and I went one afternoon for lunch to try it out. Their was not wait so we got sat right away. My fiancee had a glass of their red sangria which she said was very good. We both ordered the lunch portion of Lechon Asado which came with hearty helping of yellow rice and black beans and I ordered a side home-made potato chips. The pork was so tender that it melted in your mouth. The rice and beans were good; your traditional yellow rice and beans! The home-made potato chips were ok. Wish I had ordered the rice and beans. They lacked flavor and needed some type of dipping sauce. The pries for lunch were comparable to most lunch places but we will be going back! read more

I've never been to their actual location but my work orders food from them all the time and every dish is absolutely delicious! Heard someone raving about this place so when I headed down here for lunch. Though, I felt a little out of place since everyone was about 30 years older than I was, I still REALLY enjoyed the whole experience. The staff was extremely pleasant and efficient even with a busy lunch rush. Our server recommended the specials. The food was delicious, though I'm assuming since it was busy and we did order the special, that the food had been pre-made so ours came out a little less than luke warm. However, if that is my only complaint. I know I would still come here for a nice lunch. read more

My family has been getting takeout from (the original-now-nonexistent Parsons location) La Septima for years and now I love dining in at the Kings Ave. location. My favorites are their deviled crab, the chicken and yellow rice, the pork sandwich. Had an awesome potato Spanish soup. So worth trying! Their Cuban sandwiches are a really excellent Tampa- style version, as well. Don't forget the olive butter! Yummy! The staff is always very helpful and friendly and their drink prices are inexpensive to boot. Although, I haven't tried any of the alcoholic beverages myself. The BEST Prime Rib we've had in a long time here in Brandon-Be there for 5pm on Saturdays (its a Saturday special) or you'll miss out-$2 Bud Lite drafts, etc , Happy Hour, also---for $15.95 you'll get- a nice house salad, fresh Cuban bread with a yummy chopped olive butter, your prime Rib, prepared as you like, mine was rare to perfection!, garlic mashed taters, my husband substituted fabulous black beans, no problem there, with an excellent horseradish sauce for dipping! Arrived 15 min before closing on a Fri night. We were welcomed and not made to feel like we were in the way. Our food was wonderful. The presentation was simplistic, but would rather have good food than anything else. As we were leaving, had a delightful conversation with the owner's husband. He recommended a cookbook where I could get the natilla recipe. He was so nice and appreciative of our business. Look forward to going back, just a short distance off I 75. I promised him I'd write a yelp review because that's how we found the place. That was in April. Better late than never! read more

Called to speak to the Owner who was not available, was then transferred to self professed Chef Darlene instead; I explained our dissatisfaction with her food (too institutionalized) and she seemed oblivious to it all. I told her I was going to post our experience on Yelp and she told me to "do what I think I need to do". Based upon our conversation I posted on Yelp...I did not feel the owner would be contacting me, and she did not ever call me, she posted her comment about her years of service on Yelp. Congratulations La Septima on 22 years of being in business...but this doesn't mean your food is better....shame on you for advertising "authentic". I don't imagine Brandon is a huge spanish community that would know the difference...let's see if you can eek out another few years. Went to get my roast pork, black beans & yellow rice fix. Cooked to perfection. The 24 hour marinating really gave the pork great flavors. Homemade red sangria complimented the sour pork perfectly. My wife had the Seventh Avenue small salad with a deviled crab. The large salad can feed a family of 4. The small was perfect. Prices are affordable and service was quick. read more

I have loved their food for years-miss the filet- customer service has had its ups & downs but the food always lured me back... however, not too long after everything started opening back up I called for a togo order & as I was asking prices the lady on the phone let out an exasperated sounding sigh (she didn't readily know prices & kept having to check)... So I asked her if I was bothering her and her response was "I'm really busy and have other calls coming in" (!!!!!) - needless to say I didn't order and took what would have been a really large order somehwere else. This was after I had talked my husband into eating/ordering from there as he was frustrated from our last takeout order there- he went in to pick it up and left aggravated with the service, or lack thereof, vowing to never go back again. He was also disappointed with the portions when we got home. I think it was better overall when at their location on Parsons... Working with the public can definitely be frustrating, but good customer service goes a long way! So happy I tried this place - its set in a little shopping plaza and on the corner lot which is nice. It doesn't look like much on the outside, if I didnt hear about this place from a co-worker or read the reviews, I probably never would have come here. I ordered food to go, upon entering I was immediately greeted, it was nice and clean, the lighting is a little dark but maybe they're trying to set a mood? The area for take out was on the opposite side of the restaurant so if you get take out park on the side parking lot - it has its own entrance for take out and you won't be walking through the restaurant. Its not too large or busy when I went however I can imagine on a busy night it may be easier to take the side door. I ordered chicken and yellow rice, black beans, pescado russa, deviled crab and Spanish bean soup. Everything was delicious! Only two minor downsides to our meal - they ran put of white meat and the garbanzo beans in the soup were not as soft as preferred, but still tasted good. I loved the fish and only wish I had more toppings for it. It was cooked perfectly and served with yellow rice, which I usually dont eat, but their yellow rice was really good! The deviled crab was stuffed with lots of crab meat and tasted great - no complaints here! I do have to point out that they did a wonderful job in packing all the food and putting sides, condiments, etc in seperate containers so that the food would not get soggy or spill out of the boxes. My order was being boxed up as I was paying and I had hardly but a minute wait. The wait staff was very friendly and ensured I had napkins, utensils and condiments for our meal. I'm looking forward to coming into the restaurant and dine inside and trying something new again next time! read more
