We have a Credit Rating higher then 750, Never any Evictions or any BKs on Our Records never had to pay this kind of deposit My wife is Handicapped and I am retired and We are both Senior Citizens on fixed incomes and show We make 3 times the Rental Price so what going on at La Serena ? I've lived here for over 7 years and each year there has been a noticeable decline in multiple areas: The apartments are worn down, outdated and poorly maintained. They don't completely fix things here. The walls and ceilings are paper thin. Whenever someone in the building turns on the shower it sounds like Niagra Falls. The staff have gotten worse since the last management change. They talk a good game in response to tenants posting bad reviews but they simply ou care about your money. I was leasing a one bedroom apartment and my lease is about to expire. I requested to stay a few more months on a month-to-month basis. The property office, managed by company "Level Apartment Management", is increasing my rent by an extremely excessive amount, about 70%. Very unreasonable and outrageous. Anywhere else I lived in, it was no more than 5% increase in this type of situations. I had no choice but to sign a 4 month lease unwillingly at about 13% incase, just to avoid having to pay the 70% higher rent. I tried to reason with them, Jean Shepherd (property manager), Jen Cook (District Manager) and Ryan McNamara (president), but they all just said it is the current price and it is within their legal right. I have taken this matter to the authorities. from navadalawhelp.org. "While Nevada law allows for rent increases, Nevada law NRS 118A.354 stipulates that an increase cannot be "unconscionable." An unconscionable increase is a grey area in the law, but it generally means an increase that's outrageously high compared to the average rent in the area." Their response is, "We DO offer a month to month option; it is the $2592.00 price from your letter, and is subject to change monthly. At first it was an amazing place, then a year onward, the gate does not close 24 hours for days, they'll fix it and close for a day and its broken again, then the robbery of car parts started, after another year the management changes, the policy changes, its okay if its for beautifucation, but allowing marijuana usage inside the house starts the la serena to be cheap, o yeah, marijuana is legal in Nevada but not all people likes it, the smell like a dead skunk, i dont blame the people who use marijuana, i blame it on the construction of the apartment, why does it goes through the wall and smells marijuana the next apartment or the whole building. If i could do half a star, i would. My grandma has lived in these apartments for around 10 years and informed me the office wasnt too helpful, i should've listened to her. I moved in about 6 months ago and have had nothing but issues with the office staff. The only helpful/caring one is Andera. The rest have HUGE attitude problems. Any time there is an issue, they make you feel like it's you that is an issue. I could sit here and write a story about all the issues i've had, and in only 6 months at that. The most recent issue i had, i spoke to jean who advised me "to move out if i was so unhappy here". The other half star is because i really do like the apartments over all and i am able to look over my ederly grandmother living so close. Its just sad that staff would rather advise you to move out than to fix the issue that they are causing- the issue was they were doing construction next door and i literally had to scream to even be able to speak in my own home, at 9am... common courtesy would be to inform residents of the construction, so they can plan ahead. I work nights so im fast asleep by 9am usually. The least they could have done is comp me something, anything, for the inconvenience. A simple notice would have been great so i can stay at a hotel during their construction. My hot water was shut off during the process as well, which is an obvious inconvenience for anyone. Instead of a simple apology for the inconvenience, i get a suggestion saying i should move out lol this place is a joke. The same happened 2 months ago with the upstairs as well. My grandma was having issues with her upstairs neighbors constantly being too loud, she notified the office and the ladies told my grandma "you two are gonna have to work it out or one of you will have to move out"... thats completely unprofessional, its literally their job to de-escelate a situation and do something about it. Entrance gate has been open for months, they charge you extra for a key card that opens the gate. Waste of money since the gate doesnt even close. I pay about $2,000/month to live in a construction zone, can't even sleep in my own home and all without a simple apology. I loved living on this property for a while - green grass is well maintained, repairs completed in a timely manner. BUT I dreaded any interaction with their front office staff. They were kind and welcoming when I signed my initial lease over a year ago, but have been the most unprofessional duo when asked for clarification on changes to lease or explanation of charges on account. These women are so fake and condescending. They wont answer a question directly, talk over people and treat you like a problem tenant. And they tag team when both are at their desks. Not all residents are held to the same standards. They are harassing about anything they don't like. I lived in this apartment community for a little over two years. I moved out because we needed a bigger place to stay, and the 2-bedroom units here were simply out of our budget. I really wish we could have stayed because these are my favorite so far. The negative reviews do not reflect my experience living here. I have had absolutely no problems with the leasing office, neighbors, or my unit. It's been very quiet and peaceful here. The units are basic compared to the more expensive remodeled apartments in the area, but these are so much more affordable! At the time that we had moved here, we decided that living in such a nice area was worth not having a "luxury" apartment. I'll break down my review so that anyone reading can focus on what they care about. 1. Safety. I see some reviews here saying that there were "break-ins", but I have never either been a victim of a break-in, nor have I ever witnessed one. The area here is very nice, and I don't even really see suspicious people. I've had packages from Amazon left on my front door for hours (while I'm at work), and never had any of them stolen. There is nothing here that would make someone feel unsafe. Obviously, crime happens anywhere, but it sure doesn't seem like you're more likely here to be a victim. 2. Parking. Parking here is abundant. We were assigned one covered parking. The uncovered parking requires no permit or pass - anyone can park there. There are so many of them that I've never even seen them full. There's always parking for you and guests here. 3. Leasing & Maintenance. Upon move-in, everyone in the leasing office was professional and friendly. Throughout the time that we lived there, we had to request work orders for some appliances that would stop working (mostly the dishwasher). In almost every case, the issue was resolved within 24-hours. I never had any problem with anyone in the leasing office. I imagine that the tenants who have issues with them are unreasonable people. There was no issue moving out. Within just a few days we received our last invoice, and it was very fair. There were no charges there that were not warranted. From beginning to end, everyone is leasing was gracious, honest, and professional. Where I live now, I understand not to take this for granted. 4. Price Because these are not updated apartments, they are a bit cheaper than the others nearby. The cost of utilities here (water, sewage, and trash) are very affordable and don't change. 5. Pests. This is the only issue that I agree with other yelpers. I have had ant issues a couple times here, and it was mostly around the summer. I've had the issue resolved in both occasions when they came here to spray (it took a year for them to come back). I haven't had any issues with roaches here. Where I live now, I wouldn't be caught dead leaving out any food, but here you really don't have to worry about that. I've only ever seen about 5 of them throughout the 2-years that I lived here, and they most likely just wandered in. 6. Maintenance. The community is well-maintained and they are pretty good with keeping it clean. I had no issue with that. The trees/bushes are regularly trimmed, and trash area is usually as tidy as a trash area can be. Zero problems here. 7. Extras The only extras I can think of is that they have a pretty decent 24-hour gym and ample parking. They have a gate at the entrance, but you can set it up so that visitors can call you (using the dial box at the front) and you can buzz them in with your phone. So, there really isn't much of a downside. If you don't care about having a remodeled apartment and want to live in a nice area, this is a place to consider. It has so many restaurants and stores nearby. You can drive down Eastern and find almost anything you need within 5 minutes. I would highly recommend this place! read more

They took no security deposit from and then tried to charge me $450 two weeks after I moved out for cleaning purposes, when I left the apartment in better condition than what they gave me. So far the Apartment was half way "MOVE IN READY" , some may say . "You should have done the walk through" we did however in our case we didn't get our House Hold Goods until the day of the walk in . So , we didn't due a thorough walk through. So between then and now, we started to notice all the short cuts the staff did to get the apartment "move in ready" . So we have made several calls to get them to come in and address the issues. Just be careful when you call , stay firm on the issues you need address because their favorite response to everything is "it not an emergency, can it wait" etc. we called this morning for example about the fridge freezing our food to the point that our glass water bottles burst and there was glass everywhere. Again their response was it's not an emergency, to me that's an emergency specially when you have kids. (And no we have not tampered with the temperatures). There is a Hispanic lady who is extremely rude and dose not know what customer service is. Anywho , just be careful before you lease here, they are great sales persons, so inspect every single item within the apartment. We lived here for 2 years I wouldn't rent here again They have a MAJOR ant issue! In the summer all the tenants would be at the pool and we'd talk about the horrible ant problems we all had in our apartments. The complex does provide free pest control but it clearly doesn't make a difference. Most of us just hired our own pest control to take care of the problem. You have to pay rent with a check or they charge 3% of your rent if you use a card. If you have to go in to pay the rent or you have any issues, avoid the girl that sits on the right ( she's on the right if you're facing the desks) -she'll be the once that doesn't even smile- she'll put you in a bad mood. She's rude, condescending, catty and insulting. We were all relieved when she was out for a while. Luckily we never had any issues but after we moved in we heard about all the break ins that had happened. So always lock your doors! They have stupid rules like if you back your car in they'll tow you and if you have visitors they can't bring their dog?! The tenant cleans the apartment before they move out- we were told that they don't clean it before a new tenant moves in- ( we found this out when we moved out) There are so many places in Henderson- just avoid the hassle and look elsewhere. My parents rented here for just over a year. I had to interact with the office staff more often than I would have liked, but not because of the apartments, instead because both my mom and dad passed away unexpectedly. Initially, I worked with them to then work with my dad to ensure his emergency contact info was updated and that I had access to the complex and unit. For 9 months we did good. Dad suddenly took a very bad turn for the worst health wise and I had to work with the office again to ensure they were aware of what was happening. One day after my father passed away, the lady (blonde and has an accent) was so very kind and instantly worked with Management to ensure T's were crossed and I's dotted. I had movers clear the apartment out and cleaned a bit. No issues at all. She was always so nice to speak to and really spoke very highly of my amazing parents as well. The location near the hospital was a blessing, and again, the staff (the two I worked with at least), were amazing. My parents apartment was clean and well maintained overall. No complaints, and I know both enjoyed living here and had no issues from what I know. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE! I recently rented an upgraded two bedroom unit this last year (2019). This complex is incredibly over priced. The heat makes a loud awful rattling noise every time it comes on, it would also come on when it was not necessary and blow incredibly hot air only in certain places. My bathroom lights continuously went out. My showers didn't drain. Ants invaded my apartment in the summer due to Un-patched holes in the walls and under the cabinets. My windows are old, dirty, and hard to open. The hot tub was closed for half the summer. And the pools are old and outdated. The front gate was constantly broken.. These apartments are NOT worth the price especially with as many options that are around. On top of all of this management is terrible!! There was a misunderstanding on my moving day and I was locked out of my apartment by 530PM (they physically changed the lock) with no phone call or anything and then charged $44 to get my stuff out (that they told me they knew I would be back for) the next morning. I was spoken to in an incredibly rude way after paying them over 16K last year. Amber said "I'm not really sure why you didn't already know this" and Jen said to me "When we get the $44 you can have a key". I had no problem fixing the misunderstanding but the way they spoke to me about it was uncalled for and rude, and this isn't the first time I've been spoken to in a rude manner from them.
