It used to be a great -- and one of my favorite -- destinations for Mexican food. Unfortunately, based on my experiences this year, it has become a total disappointment. My last order, beef enchiladas, was simply inedible. The meat tasted so bad that I could not even finish the first bite. Ordered two tacos earlier today to go, one word "insulting" will preface by saying I am female not with a huge appetite and the portion and price of a calamari and salmon tacos was pathetic $18 after tip and am sorry I even left a tip with the pathetic amount of filling in each taco! Calamari had about a teaspoon of guac with a about two teaspoons of fish in each one and measly amount of cabbage!! Why take advantage of your customers? First time last time. read more

We drove all the way from San Gabriel Valley to enjoy some burritos from La Sirena. They used to have a location in Irvine, but after it closed, we searched for another and found this spot! Upon arrival, we quickly noticed the typical Laguna Beach traffic, especially on a beautiful Saturday with clear blue skies. Despite the congestion, we were determined to reach our destination. After navigating the long traffic, we finally parked. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito without rice, opting for just rice and beans, just the way I like it. (Fun fact: I prefer my burritos with all the beans' juice creating a creamy texture. If you prefer a drier burrito, you might want to get rice on the side.) My husband ordered a Carne Asada with Shrimp Burrito without rice, and it was equally delicious. The chips and salsa were just as delightful. The ambiance of this establishment is fantastic, offering open-air seating for those who want to enjoy the ocean breeze or indoor seating for those who prefer to avoid it. This location is just as good as the Irvine spot was. I would probably visit again on a weekday when it's less busy, but if you live nearby, why not give it a try? read more

Best Mexican food in Laguna Beach! The ingredients are so fresh and the portions are plentiful, especially the salads! We had the avo Lime Salad (carne asada), the blackened wild caught salmon salad, and two carne asada taco, and this was more food we could eat! We have never had so much avocados in our salads! The salad dressings and salsa are made fresh too! Loved that we could eat clean food, especially with the organic mixed greens, grass fed beef and wild caught salmon! The service was very fast and staff were very nice too. There are only two tables on-site and we were lucky to have a table available when our food was ready. The ambiance is very cozy, tucked away in the back streets, very local feel, as we could watch many locals, including students, stop by to orde and leave. We went there for lunch and ordered online for dinner yesterday (to grab and go). We are planning to eat there again today for lunch (grab and go eat at the beach). This place is a gem, not to mention that the prices are very reasonable. Finding quality fresh food/salads under $20 is rare these day. read more

La Sirena is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Laguna Beach. This one is located right across the highway from the Montage. I often get lunch, usually a blackened fish soft taco that comes with a handful of chips. There are two shaded patios with tables to dine outside or there are a number of seats inside. There is also a big bar where you can get craft beers on tap or other alcoholic drinks. Sometimes I take my order to go and walk across the highway to the park surrounding the Montage. There are tables there to enjoy your lunch and you will have an amazing view of the ocean. You can't go wrong with just about anything on their menu! Excellent food at a decent price. read more

Great place to grab a bite. Wonderful customer service. Pretty small place but they do have few tables outside. They have about 2 tables few steps up, next to their restaurant. They're familiar with allergies as I'm allergic to gluten and dairy, Tried their fish of the day which was mahi mahi taco, it's so good. Tried their salmon as well - they have a big piece of salmon. The size of their tacos are pretty good size and not tiny, Tortilla soup advised as gluten free as well, and omitted the cheese - very tasty and not spicy, just enough saltiness, not too salty. If you sat few steps up on the table facing the street, you'll get lovely Mountain View and just sense of calm. This place is away from the crowdedness of the Main Street. read more

The burrito bowl is the best! Blackened Mahi Mahi, perfectly cooked black beans, fresh crunchy cabbage and the freshest pico and guac! Yum!

Great beer menu (margaritas as well). I took family for lunch. Probably has a different vibe later in the day. Perfect spot for drinking with friends... lots of room to mingle and just chill. I was in the area and front desk person at the Library recommended this place. Being vegetarian I order enchiladas, and it was one of the best. Really liked the freshness of the food and for the first time I tried escabeche ( Mexican pickled vegetables) on the side it was flavorful. Absolutely coming back again with the family. This was one of my favorite bites during my trip to Laguna Beach. It's a bit separate from the busier streets, so it was nice to have a relatively quiet spot to enjoy a good dinner. Note, this place is fairly casual--no indoor seating and just a few cafeteria style outdoor tables. I wouldn't come here expecting a fancy, long dinner, and if anything, that's what makes it great compared to the majority of the restaurants in Laguna Beach. Absolute gem know for their surf and turf Baja Mexican food. The store front is unassuming and quaint. Had a shrimp burrito and it was more than enough for one person. The Yea Haw sandwich was amazing and a local favorite. The service was quick and so nice. Be aware there are only a couple of tables so prepare to take away and dine at the beach. Guacamole is good, fresh mix of chunky avocados and mashed guacamole! Roasted salsa was good and a tiny bit spicy, the green salsa was bitter and spicier. Blackened salmon salad was delicious! Food there is good as always, but not so good to make up for the passive-aggressive service. I have no idea what the issue is with the buy that works here, but we are done with this location. We came to this location of La Sirena Grill every couple of weeks for the last six months. This week July 3-10 we were here twice. Both times Mr Beard-face had his panties in a bunch. He apparently has an issue with treating women nicely. He hasn't treated me rudely directly, but my wife is another story. Both times we were at the restaurant this week, I was around the corner and in earshot of this guy. I suggest he find a new career. We order takeout and add always include a tip. Even after he was a complete jerk the first visit during the week, we still included gratuity on our takeout order for our second visit. Hey, I get people have bad days and always give the benefit of the doubt on the first one. But a second time in a week, we will take our money somewhere else. I don't need to give gratuity is someone who isn't gracious. The first experience this week was getting chewed out because we sat in the seating area after getting our call in order. Apparently it's not open seating any longer, and you can't order ahead and get a table when you get there. We have always done this, but now it's not allowed all of a sudden. No worries, after getting yelled at by Mr Beard-face we left. It was clear he was trying to appease a group of older tourists who made a stink that there were no tables available at this takeout restaurant. Why not do a show for the people that will never come back and irritate the regulars? Sounds like a great strategy plan for return business. The second experience was takeout that we were just picking up and leaving with. This time it was the question of do you want sauces? Yes, please these types... A return with the salas and being handed them, and then being placed in the bag. Then the statement, "I have to charge you for those as it's expensive". Okay... nothing is said while going back inside to get them, nothing is said as they are being handed over... but the statement is made after they are given over and placed in the bag. Once again it's never been an issue before to get a single 2oz green sauce, but on this day when there are a dozen people standing around to order, it's an issue. How about this: 1) take the 55 cents out of the tip we left for the takeout order. Or 2) say it's an extra charge BEFORE you go and get it and hand it over. Let me do some math for your manager... we came an average of 2x month and spend ~$22 for the two of us each time. 24 times X $22 = $528 year. (That is without us bringing our friends to the restaurant which we have done several times.) Take the $528 and take 10% for the gratuity we give on takeout orders ~$53 a year. 528 + 53 = $581. Not a tremendous amount of money, but compare it to 0 visits a year X $0 going forward. We are absolutely thrilled to take our ~$600 to other places without passive-aggressive service. read more

Love the chicken machaca burrito they serve for breakfast at this location. Super easy to order online through the toast app and it's ready for pick up in 15 minutes. Comes with a small bag of delicious, fresh, salty tortilla chips too. The green sauce is awesome. This downtown location has a couple of small tables on their mini side patio. This place is not a sit down restaurant but we didn't mind since we just wanted some food to go. You don't go inside at all right now. Someone takes your order outside and you get your food outside. By the way parking can be a bit tricky. It's all street metered parking. We ordered Carne asada burrito with pinto beans without rice.
