Great tacos ! We enjoy Luna's!! We stop in often. The tacos a good sized. Staff always friendly.

I work literally down the street and this place has the best food and fastest way to order and pick up on DoorDash. The portion is huge, fresh and delicious and I've been ordering at least once a week sometimes even two. Every time I order something I always have to get the 3 X Chiles Toreados (Fried, Salted & Blistered Green Pepper) and coke to wash it all down. They really give a lot of meat and I'm full by eating half of the Carnitas Plate Combination or even the shrimp burrito. I've been ordering Taqueria Luna at least two or three times a week ,since I work down the street and their pickup with Doordash is super efficient for me because I can pre order a certain time before my lunch time start, and when I clocked out the food is ready. Services is amazing, and I know I can just cut the line to grab my food but I rather not be that doordash guest so I just wait in the line I'm not in the rush anyways. Keep in mind, no many what days it is, this place is pack and the seating area is limited but they do have outdoor seating, I just normally pick up my food and eat at my work place, we have a backyard patio too. I haven't got sick of eating here yet, I've been eating here almost every week since it's right there and they always have something for me. Their chilies toreadors are my favorite thing to get along with all my meals, its the perfect amount of spicy and sometimes I bring my own habenro hot sauce from hot if I really want to burn. Huge portion five big gigantic shrimp was delicious. Shrimp is not overcooked. Has that crunch ,super fresh and lovethe three jalapeño tornado with my dishes.10 out of 10 this is my second day in a row ordering from this place. Found this place quickly on google maps bc it had high reviews and saw that Yelp did too. The tacos are pricier than normal taco stands ($5.75 for fish/shrimp), but the size is double what you'd get, so that part checks out. Loved the patio seating in the alley. Food was great - lots of fish and shrimp in the taco, and all the sauces + salsa made the flavors really come together well. The shop and the tables are so clean. Would love to dine here again soon. read more

Great place for quick Mexican food. It's a small place with some seating inside but not much. They do have a patio outside with plenty of tables and chairs. The staff is super sweet and the food is delicious. Don't forget to wash it all down with a Mexican Coke. read more

I was staying at a hotel nearby and was craving some carne asada fries and found birria fries instead! So I doordashed some! In hindsight it sounded good but I forgot how birria is made and didn't realize it would make the fries all soggy. I appreciate the staff accommodating to my avocado allergy and removing the guac and beans (just don't like beans) for me but I wish I had known there were going to be tomatoes in them since it wasn't listed in the description, I would have requested no tomatoes too. Stop scrolling and place your order! After a long day of traveling, all I wanted was a quick dinner. I placed an order via Uber Eats for: 5 rolled tacos - shredded beef I asked for the crème and cheese on the side Requested a side of salsa Order of chips and salsa The food arrived quickly and I was so pleased to find a beautifully put together order. Rolled tacos had the Oaxaca cheese and creme on the side, as I requested. They were carefully plated and not overly messy. Crispy, not soggy at all. Great flavor. Good portion. I was so impressed that they included not one, not two, but FOUR salsas to choose from for my order. I can't tell you how many times I've paid for sides of salsa that aren't included when takeout orders come from other restaurants. Taqueria Luna included them along with my other items. I walked by this quaint establishment earlier in the morning and decided to give them a try for dinner. I called and spoke with Roxy, she took out to go order. We ordered two chicken hard shell tacos and a birria (beef) quesadilla. We wanted onion and cilantro in everything. I arrived 7 minutes later our food was ready and waiting. Food was great! Cashier lady was nice as well. Whoever ran or made my food, I'm not sure but I ordered double protein and only got a single portion. When I asked to confirm if my plate was in fact with double protein and I in a annoyed/bothered tone the food runner assured that what was on my plate was indeed double protein even though another customer next to me ordered a plate without double protein and our portions were exactly the same. Unfortunate because food was great and the only reason I'm rating it one star is because I got played. Paid for double protein and never got it. read more

Another experience in my hunt for the best breakfast burritos in the San Clemente Tri-State area (San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan). I tried multiple times to try Luna's BB in the previous location that used to be a KFC and Adolfo's (a YUM of the past). I never could figure out when they were open. Glad they settled on Del Mar. Ok, I made it here and it was open in their new location that used to be a sushi place. Didn't smell like fish, so that's good. I think this is a good location for them. Should stay busy. After reviewing the menu on the wall behind the counter, I decided on a Cali Breakfast Burrito. Eggs. Potatoes. Bacon. Avocado. Cheese. Sounds like the perfect combo. I grabbed a can of Diet Coke to enjoy while I weighted for the BB to be assembled and cooked. It's a small place with a couple of tables. Plan on take out if you are heading here. I was handed a bag with a very heavy breakfast burrito, a couple salsas and napkins. At home I cut that baby open and put 1/2 in the fridge for the next day. Good choice. The burrito was good looking, everything was nicely cooked and mixed well. My big disappointment was that the tortilla was not grilled. That is a pet peeve of mine and is required for a 4 or 5 star burrito. Bummer. The salsas were a green and a red that was a bit creamy or thick. The green was very watery and not much taste. The red was delicious and I wish I had more for the second half I had the following day. I can't define the taste, but it was good! All in all it was very good and top 15 in the tri state area. Ended our 12 hour road trip with tacos by the beach. A well deserved treat after a long day! Parking along Del Mar was easy to navigate as people are usually coming and going so spots open up rather quickly if you keep an eye out. My fiancé got the chicken quesadilla and I got the 2 taco combo with rice and beans. The carnitas and fish tacos were delicious and the rice and beans were so flavorful. My fiancé loved his order as well and we both agreed the portions were huge - we were stuffed! Excellent price and service. Happy to have this place nearby. read more

This is a great spot where there is a constant flow of customers, but the employees work quickly and get your food out fast! I got the green chile burrito and my wife got the California burrito (lunch version). The carne asada was a little on the dry side, but my chile verde was tasty! Besides the deliciousness of my burrito I had to have chips, spicy cream salsa, and a Diet Coke which all hit the spot when you are looking for that comfort breakfast. Generally a good taqueria! The carnitas were juicy, tender, and meaty with great flavor. Fish tacos were grilled but served with a spicy salsa so request to hold it unless you like a small kick. A nice place for a quick meal and prices were fair considering the larger taco portion. read more

This place is phenomenal!!! I just relocated from New Orleans, and was in search of a new mexican place. I decided to go with my sister, instantly when we walked in we were greeted, and asked what we would like. Me and my sister decided on the Birria quesadilla, and the birria tacos. They were to die for!!!! Staff was extremely sweet, brought up chips and salsa and asked us how the food was as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very laid back, and when you were done a server came by to pick up your plate. Fair prices as well, nothing too crazy. Also $2 tacos on Tuesday! My husband had the carne asado tacos, but he said it lacked flavor. My shrimp and fish tacos were also okay, but the salsa helped. I got birria tacos with beans and rice and I don't think I've ever had such good birria before...what I liked was that they put a lot of what looks like roast in the tacos with the usual onions and cilantro. Very tasty tacos in the heart of downtown San Clemente. I would recommend the Carnitas and Al Pastor tacos as both are very tasty. Have not tried the fish or shrimp tacos but lots of folks were ordering them. They are a little pricey but at least they are full size tacos and not the 1 biters from king taco in LA. I had the beef taquitos & was disappointed. They were mostly tortilla, very little meat. The guacamole had no flavor, it was overpowered by the huge chunks of tomatoes it had rather than avocado. Excited to have this more affordable mexican food spot within walking distance on del mar now. Sometimes I just want to be able grab some quick food without having to spend $100 plus they are open late. Same group of owners/workers that are known and loved by San Clemente from previous restaurants such as Taqueria Adolfo's & La Siesta. Our first visit at this new location we grabbed a shrimp taco, birria taco, fish taco, lengua taco and a bean and cheese burrito. All the tacos & burrito were delicious, the lengua taco really surprised me at how tender and flavorful it was. I'm usually apprehensive about lengua but this was so good!
