I've lived in Laguna for 30 years and somehow never have been here before today! Easily one of the best bean and cheese burritos I've ever had + street tacos were bomb. Service was great as well, and employees were friendly. Definitely recommend coming here before or after your beach day. I've been coming here for at least a few decades and it is always been a great stop on my way to the beach, or work. The old owners sold it about 3 or 4 years ago. The new owners have kept the menu are doing a fantastic job! This little walk up is located on Pacific Coast Highway in South Laguna Beach. I stopped yesterday and got a machaca chicken torta. The Machaca chicken is delicious whether it's in a taquito, street taco, burrito, enchilada or a torta the meat is tender, juicy and tasty! We stop by to get their guacamole and chips for the kiddos because the guac is pure avocado with no fillers, it's absolutely delicious! And the chicken tortilla soup is the best around. The kids also love their taquitos, which are plump and filled with lots of meat. If you're in the south Laguna area, do yourself a favor and stop in -- you won't be disappointed, it's a local favorite! (I'll try to post better photos next time) read more

My kids and I come here every time before we head down to the beach. They love it, which is a win in my book cause they never all eat at 1 place. The seagulls and pigeons will also tell you they love it since they've repeatedly stolen leftovers from the INSIDE of my backpack. Visiting from Portland and found this spot while driving around. They gave generous portions and the meats were flavorful. I got Papa's California Burrito and it was excellent. The salsa was good and chunky. Wasn't a fan of the "mild sauce", didn't have much flavor at all. The staff that helped us were polite, prompt, and friendly. Only two outdoor tables that have seen better days, so take this to go! Perfect for a beach picnic or cruising to a park. read more

While it was a LONG time in between my visits, I have been going to Papas Tacos for nearly 30 years. I used to live in the area in the late 90's and Papa's was a regular stop for me. While driving back to Laguna I decided to visit Papa's for a hearty breakfast / lunch choice. From the outside, nothing has changed in 30 years but on the inside it has been updated a lot. There used to be a (very) small area where you could order food and sit along the front window looking out over PCH or get it ToGo as most people did. It appears that they significantly expanded the kitchen while removing the indoor ordering and eating areas. I ordered the Breakfast burrito with carnitas and an order of chicken taquitos. They offer you your choice of salsas when the food is ready. Everything was outstanding. Papa's has a wide range of offerings. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, bowls and much more. I have no doubt that you will enjoy it as much as I do. And I WILL be back. read more

Papa's Tacos has been a favorite for my son and his dearest friends for years. This week he took me to grab a vegetarian burrito and we took our lunch down to table rock beach to enjoy. The server was super friendly and the place was busy. The shop is small with just a couple of picnic tables for eating. With the beach right across the PCH we decided the sand and waves would create the perfect lunch ambiance. My burrito was HUGE! Had to take part of it home for later. And delicious!! Such a great little beach shack for a grab and go lunch. Would highly recommend this place and will be back soon. read more

Hit the spot after a beach day! I'm vegetarian so I got the potato burrito and added guacamole and was surprised at the size when I got it. Tasted pretty good but the service made it over the top! The owner was super friendly and gave a run down of the different sauces. I liked the hot, but can see why it might not be for everyone. It has a earthier taste. We found this place on the way to 1000 steps beach. Stopped at the liquor store next to it to grab snacks and this place is right next to it so we tried it out. Their breakfast tacos were soooooo good! We now make trips just to this area so we can have their breakfast tacos. read more

Whether you are from the surrounding area or road tripping through Laguna, it is easy to drive right by this place without even noticing it! Whenever I have a beach day in Laguna, the Mahi Burrito at Papa's Tacos is a must for lunchtime though! They have plenty of options to choose from but I can't seem to try anything else but the fish burrito each time I'm here. That is how much I enjoy it. The staff is always great as well. However, I will say I wish they had a different hot sauce since the one they offer almost tastes cumin-like in my opinion. I would love to see a mango habanero sauce or something with more kick than their pico or verde! Street parking can be tight on busy days but I never have too much trouble finding a spot. Price point: two burritos, chips, guacamole totaled to about $36 plus tip if you're feeling generous. So be prepared to spend about $40 for two people not including drinks. read more

Great taco spot! The carne asada and the machaca beef were both really good, but I think the carne asada was my favorite. Came for taco Tuesday but I wanted flour tortillas instead of corn so I wasn't able to get that $3.25 per taco deal since the flour tacos are larger. My three tacos came out to $19, but they were delicious. Definitely ask for hot sauce or salsa on the side, the green salsa was good but the hot sauce was amazing. Service is quick and it's a great spot to pick up tacos before heading to the beach. There's quite a bit of 30 minute parking outside the restaurant or you can park on the streets parallel to pch if you want to sit and eat at one of the two tables outside the restaurant. Came across this place on our LDW visit to Laguna Beach. We were starving and came across this whole in the wall looking restaurant. We decided to try it out because of their good reviews. I ordered the chicken nachos, my friends ordered enchiladas, and two burritos. I though my nachos were good except I wish it was prepared differently. My chips were a bit soggy. The guacamole was lacking in flavor. My friend said his burrito had a bit too much beans than normal. They have two benches where people can sit down to eat and a nice water jug to fill up. Found this place while driving PCH-1 with my +1. Feeling lucky, this is a hidden jewel that everyone should know when visiting Laguna. Just happened to be driving by and saw this place with a short line. Blink of an eye and it could be missed. Beware! Parking isn't the greatest, unless you're an expert at parallel parking. In front of the stand, you'll find 30-min parking along the highway. If you're lucky enough, you'll get a parking spot easy. If not, good luck. Definitely hard to find great parking anywhere in Laguna along the highway. Don't let this hinder yoir experience. The food is worth it! read more
