Stopped by Rasta Taco and kept it simple this time. Trying to cut calories, so I only ordered one taco instead of my usual "I'll regret this later" combo. Went with the Jamaican jerk chicken taco (most reviewed item on Yelp) and honestly, one was enough because it hit the spot. Super tasty, full of flavor, and everything tasted fresh. No shortcuts here. It comes with a side of chips and that combo was all I needed. Also worth mentioning, this place is on a corner and actually has a few parking spots for customers. Laguna Beach is a beautiful place. It's so beautiful, that it's difficult to find parking. Good luck! I didn't do any prior research or planning for this visit. Approached the restaurant and realized it's not a sit down style restaurant. There is outdoor "patio" like seating. Fridays they close at 7pm. The staff member that took our order was thorough in ensuring we ordered all we wanted because the kitchen was closing soon. The menu theme is Jamaican, I guess it's Jamaican x Mexican fusion? Random stop at Rasta Taco today for breakfast. Saw their billboard for breakfast specials and we decided to give it a try. We bought the breakfast chilaquiles and added chorizo and avocado to it. I'm usually a mild sauce girl, I don't eat a lot of spicy at all so the chorizo had a kick to it! Price was reasonable for the size of the meal! Two of ate and we didn't finish it. The ambiance is casual beach. It was empty when we came in but started to get full closer to lunch. It was overcast and warm so it felt great out, but there are plenty of umbrellas to get shade. Service is great! You order at the window and they bring your food to your table. Felt very personable. Free refills on drinks! Variety on the menu of island food and mexican food. Let me start by saying that I wasn't sure what to expect when I first saw this little shack of a place. We walked past the open kitchen door and looked in. I was a bit skeptical, but my son told me he'd been there before, and that it was good. So, I ordered a reggae bowl with Caribbean seasoned carne asada, and, I have to admit, it was DELICIOUS. It was more than enough food. I ate some there and the rest at home. However, I do have to say that I was a bit put off by the lack of cleanliness. The outdoor tables were filthy and the area had some garbage blowing around on the floor. My advice would be to get the food to go and to eat it elsewhere. read more

The $16 carne asada burrito is VERY underwhelming. Not much flavor/seasoning. Meat is very chewy and there's too much bland basmati rice. Even after adding salsa and tapatio (from home), my taste buds are still very sad. Two stars for the side of fries which were pretty good. read more

This review is regarding deceptive pricing and not the food as the food was edible. Going off the menu posted at the window; I ordered the Chicken Burrito and my wife ordered the Cheese Quesadilla. However, the price seems a little higher than was expected and, then I noted that the price for the Cheese Quesadilla was charged at a price of $14.95 and not the $11.95 as posted on their menu. All they said was that their menu had not yet been updated to reflect the price change. This is not acceptable as they should have told us of the price change when we placed the order. Also, they could have updated the sign with a temporary paper reflecting the new price and they also should have offered to pay us back the difference. They did not correct the sign while we were there and we passed by the place a few hours later and the price had still not been updated. Once they show proof that the menu sign has been permanently updated, I will update this review. read more

I had a really disappointing experience here. The staff was extremely rude when we simply asked if we could sit down and eat. We were told no because their to-go containers are "too expensive," which honestly made no sense and came off very unprofessional. The nachos looked good but weren't serving today because they didn't have enough tortilla chips. My nachos were exactly what I craved for...cripsy tortilla chips, juicy yet flavorful jerk chicken, tender refried pinto beans all topped with pico de gallo, jalepenos, cheese, and guacamole. The nachos satisfied the tastebuds and tamed the hunger pains. We both ordered the Pineapple Agua Fresca which was thirst quenching. What a beautiful drink! What I loved about Rasta Taco in Laguna Beach was its relaxing, dining atmosphere. The restaurant is actually a takeout window with a large outdoor only patio dining area that is unprentenious with a simple with beach vibe. Plenty of room for families, for bringing the dogs, and for those cyclists seeking a convenient stop for a quick bite to eat. Yes, there is a place to park your bike. The only drawback was the lack of restroom facilities on the premises, but Whole Foods is just across the street and their restrooms are open to the public. By the way, it was quite easy to place orders, you can either order and pay at their standalone kiosk or you can order and pay at the window. First time here and pleasantly surprised with the person who took our order who was extremely nice and there was no mandatory tip since it is essentially a self service eatery. Great little taco restaurant off the main path of Laguna Beach. We stopped by here to grab a quick bite before watching a show at the Laguna Playhouse. We order three street tacos, chicken, and Carnitas, which were fantastic. The salsa complemented the tacos very well as well as the chips. Stick to the daily specials, they are a great deal, we added a Horchata which was really good. There are plenty of patio seating. Service was excellent. Needed a quick spot for lunch in Laguna the other day and love tacos so I stopped at Rasta Taco. It was okay-- I would categorize these as bougie tacos-- expensive and just alright flavor. Definitely didn't knock my socks off. I got the Jamaican Carne Asada and the Al Pastor tacos and would have ordered more but I had time constraints. My food came quick and it was piping hot, that was good. The pineapple pico on the pastor was good, but the meat itself was kind of dry. The carne asada was okay. I'm glad they came with a side of chips because the tacos weren't that filling. The chips were a tad hard, but we're better with all the meat and fillings that dropped on my plate while eating. The place was clean and the service was very quick. While I was there they were actively bussing tables. I was warned before coming here that the place is good "if they have all their ingredients" and when I ordered an Agua Fresca they were out (but had already charged me) so I got a Jamaica drink instead. I enjoyed that. All in all... not sure I'd be back --$20 for 2 tacos, chips and a drink that just tasted okay wasn't really worth it for me personally. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I drove an hour to Laguna and wanted a good Mexican restaurant that was quick!!! This was the only one I could find and I was super excited to eat. I was also on a time crunch and only had about 15 min to spare to get food. The man in front of me orders and as soon as I get up to the window the lady proceeds to place the "we are closed" sign, no explanation! Mind you it was 5:40 and on their website no mention of closing at 6pm! On the sign it said "6pm" but it was not 6pm as I had 15 min to spare until my appointment! We each just got a couple tacos for lunch special. They came with some tortilla chips. I got the carne asada and Jamaican jerk chicken. I'll say I liked the carne a little better just because the steak was cook very well. It wasn't chewy or dried out and the flavor was definitely there. I was at my nieces wedding on Saturday evening... After the ceremony we all gathered in the garden for drinks and appetizers before dinner. Rasta Taco did a pass around quesadilla to all the guests that were hot with melted yummy cheese that were so delicious.. ( and I don't eat dairy) but these quesadillas were out of this world everybody was talking about them I actually had two, because they were warm and melty and divine... they had the salsa and guacamole to go with it and these little burritos that were so good. They did a Buffet Style for dinner which was really quite elegantly done for a wedding, I wish I had my phone to take photos of how classy they had done this. The food was delicious it was tacos with your choices of chicken , beef , vegetable fish. I decided to have one of each as well as the delicious beans and another dish that I'm not sure what it was but it was delicious... I highly recommend this company for any event that you might have they were all dressed in black and white very courteous everything was just so clean and presented so well for all of us... their servers came and took all the plates off of the tables in such a timely matter.
