I have been going to Melinda for almost 10 years now and I have been loving it. First of all, in 10 years, I have never waited ONCE. I expect to wait just based on how common that is in general, but she schedules her clients in a way where your time slot will always be honored TO A minute and you will never feel rushed. As the other Yelpers have stated, Melinda IS wonderful! While researching IPL to get rid of sun damage from my teen years and 20s, I came across LA Skin Aesthetics on Yelp. I chose 3 places with high reviews but called this place first due to their package deals. The prices were slightly less than the 2 other clinics i was considering and the reviews were mostly 5 star so I called. Melinda returned my call within the hour and answered all my questions. I had planned to schedule a consultation first but she said I could do both a consultation and begin treatment on the same visit if I preferred! So I made my appointment and was very pleased with Melinda when I met her. She's super friendly, explains everything, and I appreciate how quickly she responds to text messages. I purchased a 5 pack for IPL treatments and received a discount through a Yelp deal. The treatment, itself was as Melinda described and went by very fast b/c we were chatting. The next day, Melinda checked in with me to see how I was doing. I booked appointment #2 before I even left her office. After one treatment I noticed a difference. I saw the results approximately one week after treatment #1. And with each successive treatment, the darker spots are getting even lighter. Since last year, I've been noticing that aging on my skin is creeping up on me finally. I've always had decent skin because I do take care of it (started using department store skin care since I was 16, and was also using Olay before that). Although I love spending the day at the beach when I was a teenager, I started to wear SPF35 and higher on a daily basis when I was in college (I've been wearing SPF 55 or higher for more than 10 years now). Anyway, in the last few months, I've been seeing more and more spots creeping up and my pores are getting larger and larger. Now, I am and have been a skeptic on artificial beauty, so I would be one of the last person to go to a med spa. I've tried using Obagi 10+ years ago (heard about the rave from celebrities for immaculate complexions...and I have some clogged pores on my forehead). I didn't like how it stung, peeled and also made my skin super sensitive (my face would turn super red when I'm hot or doing outdoor activities even though I was wearing sunscreen). So, I researched and wanted to give IPL facials a try. I searched around on Yelp and found a couple of places with really good ratings, so I called and their prices were high ($550). Then, I saw LA SkinAesthetics and that they had a yelp deal going on, so I called them and asked if I can use the deal on the same day and also on the already discounted IPL series of 5. They said that I could ($250 for 1 IPL session, but $1000 for a series of 5--so goes down to $200 each--a great bargain)! So, I scheduled the same day appointment at 7pm (love the fact that they are open till 10pm so that I can come after work on my way home and not take time off work). I was greeted by Melinda, and she is very friendly and puts me at ease. I asked her plenty of questions before the IPL and she made me feel comfortable with the procedure and possible results. During the procedure, she would check with me from time to time to make sure I'm okay and let me know what she is doing. All in all, I am very pleased with the visit. Finally getting around to writing my review...I have been seeing Melinda for a little over 4 months for her photo facial and derma planning and I am so happy w the results! I have a lot of brown spots from pregnancy hormones and the facials plus retinoid she recommended are finally making a difference. I so should have done this laser hair removal thing earlier in life! People love my smooth legs! "Oh my God they are so smooth", that's what they often say to me instead of "Hello". JK. Lol. In short, my legs stay smooth pretty much all the time. The hairs do grow, but very slow. Also, they are way thinner. For reference: I'm of a Jewish/Middle-Eastern origin, white skin, dark hair, my Dad is hairy as hell, and so am (was) I (Thanks, Daddy!). Melinda is very nice and accommodating. Those 6 two-hour long sessions were basically a nice relaxation time that I enjoyed in the midst of weekday stress. So if you've been considering laser hair removal or if you're just hearing about it for the first time in your life - really just do it. You'll enjoy life so much more!!! The parking in the building is expensive, but if you go north on Robertson and turn left to those little side streets you'll see 2 and 4 hour street parking. I first came to her for Botox, it was the fourth time I had done it, and having gone to other plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills, I can safely say that this was the best experience iv had! Very pleased with the way my skin turned out after doing an IPL. I have done IPL in the past and I felt that the technician was more trained on how to approach individual cases. I did have slight line markings all over my forehead, which I found online was simply a consequence of the distance between the laser and the skin. I did a series of 6 laser hair removal treatments and the results are amazing- I would say about 90% of the hair hasn't grown back and whatever has grown back is very fair and fine compared to my original growth. I was lucky enough to find Melinda through a previous dermatologist I was using who was no longer offering services. I was delighted to find out that Melinda was nearby to where I live and work and had extremely flexible hours. Perfect for the working gal on the go when acne pops up! Can't go to a client meeting with a break out! I connected with Melinda and was happy to hear she offers injections for cystic acne, which is a chronic problem I've had my whole life. Past dermatologists had charged a fortune for it or it wasn't covered by insurance. Melinda offers excellent prices that are totally affordable and won't break the bank every time I have a break out! Not only can she treat me in a pinch, she has since worked with me on a better overall treatment plan for my skin so I stop my cystic breakouts. She has great tips for toners and topical treatments. And she even recommended me to a specialist who was able to prescribe me a better medication for my skin. I must say that being newer to the area, I was slightly nervous about working with a new medical nurse for my skin. Melinda performed one of the best microdermabrasion treatments on me I have ever had. The machine was different than the usual diamond tone I've had in spas. It had a bristle brush and was more intense of a cleaning but certainly still did not irritate my skin. Melinda was fun, kind, and genuinely cared about customizing the treatment for my skin and was careful to get me good results (there is nothing worse than a timid treatment. I need my money and times worth!), but not go so aggressive that I left looking like my face was turned into beef carpaccio. My skin has been glowing ever since, and I have been using the recommended skinmedica and skinceuticals products she set me up with. I absolutely love how my skin looks and feels. Skin is our largest organ and it is in my opinion a necessity & not a luxury to take care of it. Do yourself a favor and go visit Melinda.
