My daughter loves the tortellini which comes drowning in a rich creamy white sauce and is accompanied by a freshly baked massive roll. I generally always have plenty to take home leftovers and can't find enough room for dessert or their pastries but they have a beautiful assortment of filled croissants and other goodies to tantalize! We stood at the counter waiting to order while 2 of the employees stood around and had conversations in front of us, while looking at us, but not letting us order. I almost thought we had to self order on the screen facing us. They started to let us order after I tried to see if it was a self order option. It was a little disappointed - the food was good, but I expect better. I ordered a chicken salad on a baguette. The chicken as well as the onions and celery was chopped so finely than the majority of taste was mayonnaise! In fact when you bite into the baguette all the Chicken Salad would squish out. I prefer bite size or larger chicken. The celery should be 1/4 bite size. Mayonnaise should be minimal. You should taste the chicken and feel the crunch of the celery and taste the chicken, celery, onions and lastly mayonnaise. I also had the corn chowder soup. It was think on corn chowder. The ham, egg, and cheese pairs so well with sweet and savory. Every bite is like heaven, I could eat this every day. They give you seasonal fruit, the cantaloupe was so sweet and just ripe. They advertise that as best in town. I have not had other french onion soups in COS but this was pretty damn good!! And very filling too! I wasn't happy with the bread as the roll seemed too hard and then was pretty plain. My friend's sandwich was dry too but the salad was good. The mocha was very smooth, just enough coffee, chocolate and sugar. The spritzer was wonderful - a cooling mix of orange, pineapple, strawberries. The macarons were a treat. This is our favorite breakfast place, hands down. We eat here about once a week. We've been coming here for almost 15 years. The owner and the staff are so kind. Service is amazing. Even when they are absolutely slammed (Sunday brunch rush!), they still bring food with a smile and are so patient with our complicated orders! Food recommendations... obviously the French onion soup. It really is the best in town. My nearly 2 year old loves it and has since she was sipping the broth at 6 months old. We love the cowboy omelet (with Swiss cheese!), the kids eggs and bacon is a great deal for the price. All the croissants are delicious. The quiche is so good. And as I mentioned before... we have some pretty complicated orders due to little kids and dietary restrictions and the staff are so accommodating. The only thing I've ever had here that I didn't love was the chicken salad. (My 9 year old loved it, though. ‍) Highly, highly recommend La Tartine! read more

The customer service was lacking and they seemed annoyed that any customers were there. The restaurant has the same ambiance and charm of a hospital cafeteria. The interior is dated and it is quiet and bland. Do not come if you're going to be there an hour before closing. They start stacking chairs, sweeping, and moping around you about 45 minutes before closing. Theres a strong chemical smell from the cleaning solution they used to mop and it made me nauseous. The hollandaise sauce broke and the poached eggs were over hard which actually worked out since the puff pastry never would have been able to soak up the sauce and the yokes. The fresh fruit wasn't ripe and I would have preferred anything else as a side but I did not know that came with it. I love the food however they're always out of quiche before noon and don't ever make any more. If it's selling that good I didn't understand why they don't make enough. I had a nice breakfast here this week. I ordered the vegetarian croissant and it was tasty but nothing super special. Their menu for lunch also looks delicious with their range of pastas and soups. I'll be back sometime soon to try one. The restaurant is nice and clean and the staff is very kind as well. Very disappointed. Went at 11:30 to meet up with a friend (who suggested this place) for brunch. Entered an almost empty restaurant and stood at the counter for nearly 10 minutes without any greeting whatsoever. One woman behind the counter was chatting with another employee and acted very imposed upon to tell me I could seat myself. The menu are huge placards placed above the counter and you have to order from the counter apparently. I ordered a hot drink, but within 5 minutes there was an apparent break-out of all Colorado Springs' nursing homes because everyone over the age of 80 showed up and lined up all the way out the door. My friend showed up and fought her way through the crowd to join me at the table. There is no table service, so even though I had been there all that time, we would have had to go outside and stand in line to order from this lone woman and hope that the overwhelmed (one) cook would be able to fill our order before dinner time. We left. We won't be back. Terrible service. Depressing atmosphere. Apathetic and rude staff. Overpriced ($6 for hot chocolate). read more

Three of us were looking for a quiet place to enjoy a long lunch and LaTartine was the perfect spot. Though a bit hard to find there was plenty of parking and not a long line to order our food. We ordered at the counter and it was delivered to our table about 10 minutes later. We had a pasta dish, a soup and a salad which all were very good. I had the Tartine salad with beets, avocado, chicken, greens and Gorgonzola. It was a perfect size, and served with a crusty roll. Prices were less then $10. Wow...dismal experience. Upon stepping up to the counter, the cashiers did not even greet us with a friendly hello or acknowledgement. Not even a smile. They both were wearing hoodies and beanies, and honestly looked like gang members - completely unprofessional. They were quiet and standoffish, not the least bit inviting of or friendly. Delicious food. It's basically La Baguette on the East side. The onion soup is so good - especially with the cheese slathered all over it. The ham and egg croissant is my husband's favorite. Open for breakfast and lunch- but you want to make sure you get there before items sell out. The breads and desserts are baked fresh and not to be missed. It's everything from eggs to soup and quiche combo to beef burgonion with fresh apple turnovers, cinnamon rolls, etc, etc. It's set up like a cafeteria and is kept very clean. I've been to this place twice for lunch. The first time I ordered a cup of the French Onion soup along with the Maison salad. There was hardly any soup as the cut up pieces bread overwhelmingly soaked up the broth and there was a bit too much cheese. I would order the bowl the next time so that I can get the soup. The Maison salad was delicious. The second time I was there, I ordered the potato/leek soup which was quite tasty. The menu is extensive and there are lots of wonderful choices. My friend took me to this chic place for breakfast. It is an open floor plan which was both airy and full of natural light. We ordered at the register which was not easy due to the great sounding fare. I finally ordered the COWBOYS omelette because it had sausage. The are lots of vegetarian plates too choose from. I also had a huge butter croissant. OMG it definitely reminded me of France, My omelette was full and the sausage was different. It was a shredded sausage which was very tasty and a bit spicy.
