I found The Affordable & Licensed Handyman through Yelp because they had great reviews so I was interested to see how much their service fee would be for a simple job when I was looking for a plumber. I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.

So according to him, it would be best to either redo the shower or we would have to use a bigger plate than the one that came with our shower valve to cover the big hole in the front in order to make space to work on the valve. Even though in the end we didn't touch the shower, it was mainly because of Ruslan's detailed explanation of what the work would entail.

He popped open the trap and also tried to clear the clog in the drain with his more industrial-strength snake. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful -- the pipes are so old and corroded that we suspect it will take a much bigger repair. He wrapped up and cleaned up, and after we discussed possible next steps, he got us an estimate for further work within the hour. He didn't charge us since we weren't able to get the clog cleared, which I really appreciate. At time of writing, we're doing due diligence to collect other estimates, but my engagement with Cesar and Charlie's S&D was really favorable, and deserved a great review.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Picture this...I've just moved into my first apartment solo. I'm equal parts nervous and excited! It's Friday morning and I've just purchased a pristine, brand new $4,000 couch for a fraction of the cost on Facebook Marketplace. I'm really feeling myself and all I have left to do is setup the move. I decided to contract one of those app moving companies. They had no issues moving it from the seller's home to mine. After walking the move path, they said there should be no problem and we are good to go. However, it became evident that they did not have the experience necessary to handle what I didn't realize would be a more complicated move. About ten minutes into the move, it was clear it would not fit through the elevator. They decided to try the steps. After three flights of dragging and pushing the couch to the 3rd floor, including taking an exit door off its hinges and knocking the exit sign in the hallway smooth off, the movers said it would be impossible. It would have been nice to know this before they decided to attempt three flights of stairs without measuring the doorways, dirtying the entire left side of the couch, and ripping a hole in the button right corner. I WAS DEVASTATED AND FELT LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT. I didn't know how I was going to get this couch to my apartment. I had to pay for 3 extra move hours and had to leave the couch in my apartment atrium for any ole Joe to steal it in the middle of the night. That same night, with tears in my eyes, I listed the couch on Facebook Marketplace and started googling how to get large furniture into a building. I found ONLY TWO companies who professionally hoist furniture. One of those was LA Teams. The next day I got a callback from one of the companies and they let me know they cannot do it. I said okay thanks. Then LA Teams called me back. I spoke to the sweetest, patient and most understanding woman. She assured me that everything was going to be okay. She said the guys will come by the next morning and get it done. Fast forward, it's Sunday morning and LA Teams arrives on the scene. One person jumps out of the van leaving the other three guys to wait inside while he and I talk. He asks me a few questions and then asks to see the couch. I show him the sad couch sitting in the atrium and he begins measuring. We head upstairs and he examines the balcony and my apartment door. He measures some more. He has some reservations because the numbers are TIGHT. I assure him that if he believes it can't be done, then we will just drop it off at a storage unit. He is confident that the hoist will be no problem but the fit into the doorway might be, but he's got a drill just in case. He's also concerned with damaging the couch, which I let him know was impossible because the other movers did everything but break it. He asks to go back down and re-measure the couch and come back to my apt door. After wiggling the measuring tape every which way, there's a shift in his eyes and he says "we can do it." I was like "go for it." At this point, I really didn't have any faith it would happen. The rest of the team joins us with the most can-do attitude that can only be backed by skilled confidence. Their wrap technique and carefully calculated handling of my couch was what separated them from the inexperience crew I had the day before. Within 40 mins my couch was hoisted over the balcony and within 10 mins through my apt without taking the door hinges off or unwrapping the blankets. I was so shocked I literally was speechless because it was truly impossible to get this couch through that door based off the measurements. To this day I don't know how they did it. Best believe I'll be calling them to move me out of my apartment. Faced with an impossible task? Call LA Teams. They make the impossible, possible. Thanks again guys!! read more

I had the pleasure of working with LA Teams for the installation of a stunning Restoration Hardware Rivage Rectangular Chandelier, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! Let me start by saying that finding a contractor capable of handling Restoration Hardware installations proved to be quite a challenge. RH themselves are no help, and scouring various reviews it is really difficult to know who has the expertise. It seems all electricians will tell you they can handle something like this, but after a few questions it is obvious they don't have the experience for something this heavy and delicate. After searching high and low, I stumbled upon LA Teams, and I'm incredibly grateful that I did! From the initial contact to the completion of the project, their professionalism and dedication were evident every step of the way. What truly sets LA Teams apart is their commitment to excellence and their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Not only did they expertly install the chandelier, but Grant took the lead dealing with (a dozen?) employees at Restoration Hardware to correct mistakes made by a previous installer. They came with a team of 7 people and installed scaffolding to completely protect the delicate chandelier. No less than 3 of their team members followed up with me to make sure I was completely satisfied. This chandelier was going over a dining room table and needed the proper electrical work to add a dimmer. This project also needed engineering expertise and extra structural bracing to support the weight in an open beam ceiling. All done by licensed contractors and to the highest standard. They handled the delicate calcite components with care, ensuring that the installation was flawless. Moreover, their communication throughout the process was exemplary. It's evident that they take great pride in their work and genuinely care about delivering results that exceed expectations. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend LA Teams to anyone in need of chandelier installation services, especially for high-end fixtures like those from Restoration Hardware. This is the second time I have used LA Teams; they are fantastic for small moves. Roy coordinates everything well and is friendly, prompt and helpful. The first time they moved a large conference room table from an office in Glendale to Venice, and that went quickly and smoothly despite the fact that the table is extremely heavy. This time two team members, Matthew and Javier, helped me with a studio apartment move, loading furniture and boxes down three flights of stairs and into my rented cargo van. They went above and beyond to assure that as much got done as possible in the time I had booked, and not only were they hard workers, but also friendly and attentive. Juan and Alvin arrived promptly and efficiently removed the damaged flooring from the cabinet under my sink. Their professionalism and expertise were evident in their seamless removal process. They then installed the new flooring, patiently answering all of my questions along the way. They cleaned up all the sawdust and debris, leaving me with a beautiful new cabinet floor. The job took three hours, as the cabinet had specific size measurements and had to be split in two. I've had them do a ton of things: re-caulking a shower, securing a wobbly ceiling fan, installing a light fixture (including cutting into the drywall, not just using the existing hookups), and installing 2 very heavy bathroom vanity mirrors. I've never worked for such a disorganized company. after getting approval to do the electrical on a project we took care of everything and never got paid for the work. the owner doesn't answer anything and the receptionist guy that answers apparently cant get in contact with him. the only competent person there who even paid us a little out of his own pocket no longer works there and is doing things on his own. don't use the company. i learned I'm not the only worker that they didn't pay read more

They were putting the TV mount on an outside wall and made sure we understood that it could be difficult to find studs through the stucco. They even asked if we had the exterior paint incase we had to fill a pilot hole later and paint over it. It was a challenge to find the studs but they spent the time to make sure everything was done right and when finished everything looked great.

I wasn't sure who it was because it was so late and the caller ID said "Pro TV Mounting Same Day..." I figured it was him because then he sent me a message on Yelp that night saying "I tried calling and no one answered". I messaged him to schedule a call at a time that was more reasonable. No answer. Then the same number called during a Sunday afternoon. I asked again to please just schedule the call. When I called at the scheduled time, he sounded almost half asleep on the phone (sorry I woke you up!) and I tried explaining clearly what was wrong with the issue and he said repeatedly, "why don't you just call the people who originally installed it". I mentioned I was unhappy with their work and wanted someone else. He clearly was unfamiliar with what was going on and didn't know basic terminology for installation of doors. Never asked for a guarantee, but I just wanted someone who had a more experienced and expert installation history. He then got upset when I indicated I wouldn't be using his services because he sounded like he didn't know what was going on for the project and I preferred not to pay $80 since all other handymen come to do an assessment for free so they can accurately set expectations for themselves and the customer and there isn't disappointment on either side. He literally started raising his voice on the phone because I was trying to ask his professional opinion and gather more info on what he thought was going on. Maybe he was having an off day because he seemed to get frustrated with what I thought were common questions. It seemed like he just wanted to get me off the phone and do the $80 in-person assessment. So the "phone consultation" part doesn't seem like a real thing. Again, I told him "no problem that's your policy and I appreciate your time" but I will go in a different direction Unprofessional and also seemed to have limited skills for certain simple jobs and really is focused on TV mounting or other things (I mean the phone number ID says Pro TV install"). Again, that's totally ok, but don't get upset when a customer would prefer a different option. And be careful! He then tried repeatedly harass and called me several times after now from a hidden number! He had to be reported to Yelp! It seems like this guy generally has good reviews, but this seemed very unusual and concerning. Just take a look at all the other 1-star reviews. They all talk about the SAME exact issues: calling at inappropriate times, rude/unprofessional, harassing calls, incorrect skills listed, (even being asleep, ha!), etc. There is a clear negative pattern here, but other people seemed to find benefit so up to you based your exact situation.

They constructed and erected…read morea 7ft. tall steel post and panel fence on two sides of our ADU (we wanted non-combustible material because the fence is close to the house, but the steel fencing has a wood pattern on our side and is white on the alley side). The fencing includes a 12 ft. long motorized rolling gate of the same material for our carport. At our request, the gate includes a pedestrian door within it! All of it is so sturdy and maintenance-free that I won't need to repair or replace it for the rest of my life. The fencing is perfectly straight and tall (even if my camera distorts the angles). Best of all, Aleksei and Vlad are great to work with: honest and punctual; affordable in price; hard workers; extremely communicative about every detail of the task (even though English is not their first language); creative in design and execution; and just plain wonderful people. They are too young to be jaded in their work; instead, they are enthusiastic about getting the best possible result. As they put it, "We want it to be strong and smooth." The fence and gate are all that and more.
