La Terraza is a new Mexican eatery on 4th Street that occupies the space that used to be the Bluegrass Brewing Company. I recently visited for the first time and, while I miss Bluegrass Brewing immensely, I can see where La Terraza can be its own kind of awesome. My visit was for lunch with a large-ish group and they handled it nicely. The menus were on printed paper, but they had a large selection available for lunch and for pretty reasonable prices. Someone ordered the chips and queso with chorizo appetizer and .... WOW. Excellent stuff! For lunch I ordered something I seldom get a change to get, and that was ceviche. Specifically ceviche tostadas, which amounted to some crispy deep fried tostada shells and a bowl of fresh ceviche...and it was OUTSTANDING. I know some people that turn their noses up at ceviche because it's not cooked with heat but the same will eat sushi like it's their last meal. #GoFigure. For having a group of roughly 12 people, the staff did a great job of handling a group of this size. It basically amounted to 2 servers who were constantly in motion handling not only our table, but several other tables at the same time. The food was great, the staff was on top of absolutely everything, and it's close to work. A+

Nice piece of tilapia. Two fish taco plate.

First time here. Fish tacos. Great slab of tilapia in a flour tortillas Minimal garnish. It was all about the spice dusted tilapia. Not cabbage or sauce. I liked it. I'll be back for the fish tacos alone. Chips n salsa. Nothing special. Beer cold. Couldn't find a napkin on the bar and I'm messy. Fast friendly service. I'll be back. ( there was a salsa dance class in the next room. )

Stubbled upon this restaurant while I was attending a conference at the Brown Hotel as it is directly across the street. I had started walking to a Mediterranean spot when the music caught my attention. I quickly opened yelp to see what the reviews were and they were great so I decided to give it a try instead and honestly I don't think I could have made a better choice! The tacos and guacamole I had were so good and so fresh I ended up eating there twice in one day!! The inside of the restaurant was very clean and the staff were very nice, great service all around!! I'll let the picture speak for itself... They were as good as they look!! Check this place out. I highly recommend!!

After reading several excellent reviews, I was excited to try this place out. Overall, it's good, but nothing exceptional. We started with queso and drinks. The queso was pretty bland. The drinks were very good (margaritas - berry, original, and dragon fruit). They didn't have what they needed to make mojitos. Most of us ended up with a carnitas dish. Two quesadillas, one fajita style and one plain. They were very good. One carnitas burrito bowl. Oddly enough, it had peas in it. That was unexpected but the 7 year old still ate it. The last entree was also a quesadilla but a steak and it was also good. Service was good and the restaurant was a nice set up however there was little in the way of decor. As a side note, I really wish Mexican restaurants would go back to traditional refried beans. I don't like the new trend of making them spicy (it wasn't super spicy but still had an edge).

Lots of seating and out door seating. Family friendly so the kids felt comfortable. My son ordered the steak torta. He said it was the "best torta" he has ever had. My teenage daughter ordered the chicken fajitas. They were tasty but the rice it came with was a little lacking. We were expecting orange rice. It was a short grain with no flavor. I had the sopes. They were great. And my husband had the chilaquiles. Also very good. Service was great. Seems family owned. The restaurant had a very much industrial feel. It works. Would definitely come back.

Came in today to get some lunch since I'm working in the office today. Wanted to try something different and this place was new to the area, I ordered a quesadilla and fries. Food was prepared pretty quickly, had my order and out the door before I got going on this review. The people were friendly and very welcoming. Based on service alone I'd come back. Gotta check this food out first. Ok I only needed to eat one wedge of the quesadilla to know that the food is delicious! There's great flavor and the cheese is melted also there is a spicy sauce that came with it that is delicious. The fries were seasoned curly fries and served with a side of ranch. Overall I'll definitely be back when I'm in the office, they have a few other items I need to try to make sure this wasn't a one time fluke lol.

Great ambiance, fast service and great food. came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised how quick service was. Actually I ordered the a burrito bowl but I got a burrito instead. I did not mind the mix up though as I enjoyed the dish and found it to be very flavorful and it had the right amount of kick. Overall a great lunch spot-- I would recommend trying the place out if you are in the area.

I just had the best quesadilla I ever had. If you want the same, Carnitas, and go big with the fajita style. My lady had the fish tacos and just as much flavor as mine. These folks pot a lot of pride in what they serve. The place was clean, well laid out and service was impeccable ! The owner was here and very personable, friendly and proud to explain his story. Oh, the fresh made margaritas we hand made and easy to drink. Come check them out. You will not find a better Mexican Restaurant in this town!

Pineapple Mojito

Burrito was bland with no taste but plenty of unexpected, mushy vegetables such as green beans, green peas, and corn. Yuck!

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We ordered the Trio of Guacamole and they were all fantastic. I ordered an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. The presentation was crazy. It smoked and bubbled. When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

The chips and salsa were good and seemed really fresh. I loved my lunch chimichanga ($13), the best I have had in a while. The vegetarian tacos ($15) were okay, they were definitely messy to eat and needed more salt but the salsa verde helped. The refried beans were good, more flavorful than the normal beans you seem to get everywhere else. Aside from the lunch specials their prices look a little higher than your typical Mexican place but if ingredients are fresh and a step up in quality, I don't mind too much. Street tacos also looked good and things you cant get everywhere (Suadero anyone?) so I will probably be heading back to try those and a margarita flight.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
