YES YES YES. Coffee was really great. The focaccia breads looked awesome but I did not try any. There is a stand within the cafe that sells delicious breads and yes I sure did bring some home. The cafe was recommended by the hotel and this spot did not disappoint. This location is BUSY so pull up and chair and be patient. Service was quick and the ladies there are efficient.

As a tourist, we always felt out of place when we go to restaurants cus we barely speak the language. Most of the local places would ignore us but not here. We sat at the bar very awkwardly but the server here didn't make us feel uncomfortable. They paid attention to us and tried their best to accommodate us even when we don't speak the language. Food didn't come as I ordered but I'm more than happy to keep it and it was surprisingly good. Can't skip talking about the price. So. Very. Affordable. Sandwiches are €2+ when you will probably get it for €5 anywhere else. Came back every morning and loved it here.

    Tripe/garbanzo beans + mussels

This place is in the Santa Caterina market, which is frequented less by tourists and isn't as crowded. But that also means you won't find as many sit-down places, etc. However this place is great! We got: 1. tripe and garbanzo bean stew: this is really yummy. I normally don't like tripe but I was eating this up until it was wiped clean. 2. Studded aubergine w meat: this was good, but I regret not getting the stuffed veggie one instead. This is kind of sweet. 3. Mussels: can't go wrong w mussels. Pricing wasn't bad overall, and portions sizes are bigger than the average tapas.

Good quality pastries, we had the cinnamon roll and the pain au chocolat. The cinnamon roll is baked with an orange marmalade inside, and the pain au chocolat was flaky. Fresh squeezed orange juice was great, coffee was good. Nice cozy atmosphere, good for a quick breakfast before exploring the city.

When people talk about eating food prepared simply and enjoying each ingredient for what it is, La Torna does it just as well, if not better, than many others who claim to do the same. Tucked away in the Mercat Sta. Caterine, it is essentially bar seating surrounding an open kitchen of personable chefs adjoining a bakery that shares the same name. Here you can see the food literally transformed before your eyes as baby squid is plucked from the ice, deftly seared and then presented in marvelous wonder dressed in just olive oil and sea salt. The results are magnificent. Tender and smoky, this dish envelopes your palate and introduces you to what squid should and is supposed to taste like. Similar results are achived with the prawns (succulent and wildly flavourful) and wild mushroom dish (garnished with a lush fried egg), all of which I would unequivocally recommend. This is truly a no-frills place that might get overlooked because of its unruly location amd hectic demeanour, but their ability to source and handle incredible produce with a deft and subtle hand produces unexpected results I have seldom experienced elsewhere.

This place is killer! Unfortunately we got here a bit later in the day so some of the specials were gone. Gambas à la plancha were excellent. Had the boquerones and aubergine which were delicious as well. Great experience sitting inside at the bar! Awesome experience!

    Grilled clams. Yummy!

I was wandering around the market at lunchtime and decided to drop in here for a bite to eat because the menu looked good and it was reasonably priced. I sat at the bar and the service was very friendly. I ordered the grilled clams for 7,50 and they were amazing! She also brought a side of tomato bread which was great with the clams. I sat next to 2 couples from NYC who had eaten there the day before and came back because they loved it so much. They had some "items of the day"--veal and a fish dish covered with onions and currants. He said the veal was amazing and she said the fish was just ok. They have items on their hot bar where you can see them under the glass at the counter. I would definitely recommend this place especially for seafood since it is in the market!

Good and dependable coffee early in the morning. Not at the same level as Nomad (close by) but charming and friendly. Big plus; opens early with the mercat so a nice stop on an early morning walk. Strong coffee that gets you going. Probably the earliest people watching from a sidewalk.

Horrible experience courtesy of a horrible waitress. You should consider avoiding this restaurant. While walking through Santa Catarina market I saw their tapas bar And we decided to eat outside. I ordered the sardines and the shrimp which seemed nice enough. My wife ordered the asparagus which was good. When the steak entrecôte arrived rather than marbled it was Almost all fat. Even the people at the next table saw it as uneatable. My wife called the waitress who scolded us on how the steak was perfect (far from it) and refused to offer anything else and would not remove the steak from our bill. If you come here. Eat at the bar and avoid their outdoor service. Personally I would recommend u avoid this place since there are many restaurants who appreciate your business

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! Staff I'm everywhere so it was very easy to order more food. Also we were sitting buy the area where they made dessert and they allowed me to record them making it!! Comfortable ambiance great for date night or casual meals!!!

The service was excellent, our server spoke English and knew so much about American pop culture. He even sang NSYNC songs to us while serving us dishes. As for the food let's get into it: - Lobster Croquettes (8/10) We've had a lot of croquettes this trip, but these were on another level, get one per person. - Paella (7.5/10) Different style of paella from other places we went. It was almost like a paella curry, which was still rich and delicious. - Squid Sandwich (10/10) This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had. The squid was packed with flavor and the mayo sauce they used paired perfectly. Order one per person, and be prepared to order another to go. - Garlic Shrimp (8/10) Solid entree paired with sourdough bread. Dip that bread into the sauce and you'll be satisfied. - Aged Beef Steak w/ Foie Gras (9/10) This might be one of the best steak dishes I've had traveling abroad. It was cooked perfectly, and came with a potato crust on the bottom and Foie Gras on top. Definitely a must order. Overall a great experience, from the service and ambiance to the quality of the food, this is a must try when visiting Barcelona. Would I go again? Absolutely!

The menu has a nice variety of items, and they're all pretty small so you can try a lot. Our favorite was the squid sandwich, a super unique must get! We also really liked the garlic shrimp, which had a nice fragrant flavor from the heads. The tiramisu was also delightful with a nice balance of sweet and bitter flavors. We heard the razor clams were really good, but they didn't have any the day we visited which was a bummer!
