I went here for breakfast on Saturday, 5/16 with my little sister with BBBS. The food, service, and atmosphere were GREAT! I had heard it can get very busy with a long wait. Fortunately, we got there just in time and had no issues being seated and served. The portion sizes were pretty large, so I wasn't able to eat all of mine (and couldn't take anything with me). They never answer the phone if you are trying to place to go orders and when I drive there on those days, they are not busy. Do not waste your time, call Mister's in Cedar Hill because they ALWAYS answer the phone. Frankly I am tired of Dick's inconsistency. read more

Dick's Uptown Café is a well-oiled breakfast machine. Parking is conveniently located right outside the entrance, which is a huge plus. It's often packed, but the staff clearly has the flow down--the wait is always reasonable and moves quickly. Inside is a good-ol southern kitchen style. Seating options include both indoor and outdoor tables. The team is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. The food is consistently fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The omelets are absolutely to die for, portions are larger than average, and prices are very reasonable. It's one of my go-to spots for breakfast or brunch. Must try. read more

SUCH a great menu, food was on point, service was top shelf. Even the patrons were all super chill and the vibe was good.

Second visit here and both times have been satisfactory. Tucked away in a small corner near the Walmart. Dicks is a great breakfast spot , that has an old fashioned cafe feel. Very peaceful ambiance here , so you can enjoy your meal and also hear yourself think. I like how well the servers treat you. I was attended to in a timely manner. I've only tried the banana bread French toast with eggs and sausage. Full meal, and portion size is plenty. Very well made and authentic. Not too many place serve nana bread French toast so I like the fact that they have it here. Menu has some other items that are appealing , so I'll update my review more during a different occasion. My daughter and I are visiting my mom from out-of-state. My mom suggested IHOP for breakfast. Ew. I found this place online nearby and she agreed to try it with me. It looks like an upscale shopping center, but inside the restaurant was very casual and not modern looking at all. There was a sign to seat ourselves, so we did, and we were greeted by friendly server. She quickly brought our drinks and took our order. Wait for food was minimal. I had the chicken and waffles. It was delicious. Fluffy, crisp Belgian waffle and lightly battered, crispy, juicy chicken breast strips. It came with country gravy, but I didn't use it. My mom had the country fried steak which I tried and thought was good; better than the frozen stuff from IHOP for sure. My mom thought it was dry. I did find the country gravy bland, but the steak itself was flavorful, so maybe the gravy didn't need flavor? Overall, a positive experience and would definitely return. Came here on a Friday morning around 8:30 AM with family and my dog-- I called beforehand to confirm that they were indeed dog friendly and that we could sit outside. When I got there, they informed me that they had no servers working outside and that we would have to come inside to get our food. After some discussion amongst themselves, one server took it upon herself to let us know that she would bring out our food after tipping 20%. I realize that they were still gonna be bringing our food out in boxes. I had to go inside and get plates and silverware and all of the condiments each time. Best breakfast I've had in a while! Had to wait, but worth every second. Good prices and excellent food!

We stopped in after a baseball game for breakfast. There was a line but they got us seated within 10 minutes. Our waitress was so sweet and wonderful. The food was amazing. She brought our biscuits and gravy out as an appetizer and it was genius!! Portion sizes were large and I felt like plenty of food. The location is small but they did a good job and moving people in and out. It was a little loud but we could still have a family conversation. read more

The situation here is awful. Food is fair, waitresses are good. The seating strategy is a nightmare and the hostess is an airhead. Where is there a 45" wait with five open tables?? When asked about this, the slow and mindless hostess said "cuz' the kitchen is backed up." SO WHAT? Stop making the customer pay by waiting for a system error they did not create! Seat the damn tables and get the managers out here to wait/cook, etc.. This is a business system problem that the customer ends of sacraficing 45" to sit in a restaurant that has several open tables. There should be no wait list until every table is filled and filling the table should take precedent over keeping your slow staff happy. read more

Came on a Sunday and were seated pretty quickly as the wait wasn't too long. It's a pretty small spot so get here early. The food and portions are great. They have breakfast and lunch options which is good in case you're not in the mood for one or the other. We both ordered variations of the big mess and they were delicious! Overall rating is 8.5/10. Looking for a spot to eat while shopping in Cedar Hill and this place pops up on Yelp. It didn't disappoint! The location is easy to find. Parking directly in front. Walked in to a quaint self seating dining area. Outdoor seating is also available. Greeted quickly and handed menus. It was no time until we had drinks and orders were taken. It really seemed like just a couple of minutes and the food was delivered. Wow. This might be the best little breakfast/brunch spot ever. The food was so delicious! I cannot believe how tasty everything was. The pancakes might be the best I've ever had. Light, fluffy, slightly sweet. Sooo good! This is absolutely my new brunch spot. read more

I called several times before anyone answered to place a to go order, which should have been my first indication of bad food/service yet I was in the vicinity & nearly starving. I ordered the mini French toast meal with 1 meat (sausage patty well done) & 1 egg (scrambled soft). The meat was not well done, the center still had soft pink contents & the eggs were over cooked not scrambled to order. The French toast lacked flavor and appeared charred on the outside which was not appetizing at all. I was very disappointed that for $9 this was the best they could do. I should have just gone to Waffle House a few doors down & they would've knocked it out of the park compared to this. I won't be returning here & hate I wasted my time & money. Yuck! read more

The food here is good but they need to Do a better job of seating, bussing tables and getting the waitlist say quicker. So many empty tables and a line out the door waiting to be seated with no sense of urgency to get people seated. I got the spinach and mushroom mess with biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were light and fluffy the mess was yummy. Our son in law had the spinach and mushroom omelette and he really enjoyed it. This is my favorite brunch spot in Cedar Hill! I am in love with the atmosphere and food. I had the "Denver Omlette" with hash browns and wheat toast. I might sound a bit dramatic, but this is one of the BEST omelettes I've ever had. So cheesy, and melted perfectly with bell peppers, onions, and ham. The hash browns were so amazing!
