    Nachos are pathetic

If you like soggy, dripping in grease, a drop of cheese here and there nachos, this is your place. Absolutely disgusting.

    Carne Asada burrito dinner

Came into this place because I was hungry and saw it had 4 stars. Walked in, and the food smelled delicious! Was seated by my server and looked over the menu after careful deliberation. I ordered a Carne asada burrito and an add-on cheese enchilada with salsa Roja. The menu looked pretty good, and the prices were pretty reasonable. So it took about 10 minutes for my food to come out, not a bad wait cause I had complimentary chips and salsa, which the salsa was pretty good. The first thing I ate was the cheese enchilada it was really good. The only thing I didn't like was the thick onion chunks in it. Other than that, they didn't skimp on the cheese ate it all up! Then I started working in the burrito only, ate, maybe half. The Carne asada was not overcooked and was pretty soft. the only thing that us gonna suvk is trying to reheat it since I took most of it home because it has lettuce in side. The frijoles ranchers were pretty tasty and had great flavor. The rice was pretty bland, but mix it with the beans and it pretty damn good All in all I would come back Cheese enchiladas 5 iuta 10 Carne Asada Burrito 5 outa 10

Found this gem randomly! No disappointment here! Our group of five were all satisfied with our orders and the service was great and friendly! I forgot her name but she was charming, pleasant and very attentive. I asked her what she would recommend for a hungry and big eater. She said "the meat lovers"!!! I was sold right there on the spot! See pic Served in a hit stone pestle on a bed of onions and bell peppers. It was sizzling when brought to the table! Shrimp, steak, pork, chicken and sausages with rice and frijoles charro! I was definitely satisfied! Had to get an additional side of rice though! You know Asians and rice. Gotta have a good side of it for meals! Lol

Wow! We were super impressed with this gem. Food quality A+!! You can tell it's all homemade. Delicious and food came out pretty quickly. Service was also excellent! High recommend and we will be back!

Pork, steak, chicken, sausage and grilled shrimp, served with charro beans, grilled onions, guacamole, sour cream and tortillas. $25

I knew that Hugo's had shown up on the Red Oak radar some time ago; but we just hadn't checked them out. It was mid-afternoon and that's always a good time to show up for lunch on a weekday. We were seated immediately and service was forthcoming. Hugo's has a large Tex-Mex menu with modest prices and they waste no space. There are appetizers on the front with little photos and I picked the Shrimp ceviche tostada for $7. Inside the menu, I opted for the small size Chicken Tortilla Soup ($8). I checked out a number of tasty sounding traditional listings before making my decision. My spouse chose from the Parrilladas group. He selected the Monse - A combination of pork, steak, chicken, sausage and grilled shrimp served in a molcajete. It came with rice, charro beans, grilled onions, guacamole, sour cream and tortillas. ($25) The salsa was spicy and chilled. Just delicious! My husband's entree was generous and well prepared. He really enjoyed it. There was definitely enough in the molcajete for two and he took quite a bit home. My ceviche seemed authentic with perfect shrimp and the tiny cucumber dice; but tasted bland. It was dry and lacked citrus and salt. I used the lime wedges given, salsa and some table salt and had about half. I took the rest home to let it marinate some more. The soup bowl was packed with shredded chicken, zucchini and yellow squash, carrots, cheese, avocado slices, and crispy tortilla strips. I added salsa; but that's a personal preference and a little lime. It was good. There are lunch specials from 11 - 2, a kids menu, and desserts. They do have a bar and numerous booths and tables and chairs for seating. I remember when a major franchise opened in this space 9 years ago. This place has taken a beating since and I'm afraid there's not any ambiance to speak of. The wonderful bathrooms are new, though, and immaculate. The restaurant itself is also very clean. But the Yellow and Red paint with the Black tables and chairs is frankly bleak. Go for the food and the friendly, efficient and sweet service. There's plenty of parking in this giant shopping center parking lot. You can sit out front and watch the world go by as you eat, too!

Beef Enchiladas with queso on top with rice and beans

I love Hugo's we have been coming here since finding it near the house. The staff is always nice, it's clean inside they play good music that's not overwhelming where you can still hear your conversations. The food is good i recommend the beef enchiladas with white queso on top. The flautas, shrimp nachos, Gorditas plate and the Mexican salad these are my family's favorites.

What DID surprise me was the interior of Zucchs. We were told to seat ourselves in a restaurant that had very interesting twinkle lighting against a mostly dark interior. We decided to sit against a far wall in a booth and were greeted by a very charming waitress who told us all about the menu and Zucchs. Zucchs is listed as a $10 - $20 range dining experience. I believe this menu now reflects our changed economy with entrees nearly all greater than $20 and burgers and sandwiches greater than than $15. Salads with a protein $15 - $24. Desserts $13. Sides were very reasonable. My husband and I both ordered burgers. I ordered the All American Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo for me, add extra pickles! ($12.50) He ordered the Western Bacon Cheeseburger with Bacon, iceberg, tomato, onion rings and a side of BBQ sauce ($16.50) I didn't have to have fries as my side. I could choose from a list of 12 sides! Now you're talking. I chose the onion rings, my favorite with a burger. Our burgers arrived looking great, hot and yet I don't understand why they can't melt the cheese. Sigh. The Burger, otherwise, was terrific. Nicely toasted, thoroughly dressed, gave me everything I wanted plus delicious onion rings instead of French fries. My husband's BBQ sauce was spicy sweet and yummy. Great with the onion rings. I had heard, even read, that Zucchs was Red Oak's new upscale restaurant. But what I was hearing in a nearly empty restaurant was intrusive overly loud Country music and it remained that way for most of the time we were there. Yes. I should have spoken up. Now Zucchs is also billed as comfort food, American food for diverse tastes. I see nothing about the exterior or any marketing that says country. This tells me when it's nearly empty, the chef preference is country. Loud Country. Five stars for the Charming, thorough and sweet service though. She made sure we had everything, I mean everything we needed. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and would return. There's adequate parking and plenty of distanced tables and booths. Even a private dining room. There's a drive thru now, too!

Complimentary champagne, and AMAZING service from our waitress. I've literally never had a server with such extensive knowledge of a restaurant's menu. Very impressive! (which was HUGE btw). While the service was exponentially excellent, the food was...good. The menu was what I would describe as "elevated Mexican" with some other Latin-inspired steakhouse dishes (think filet mignon with some salsa on the side) Everything was good, but nothing really stood out for me. The caldo de res was better than home, and very well served portions. At least 10-12 oz of meat maybe more and a great array of veggies and excellent rice and condiments on the side. They don't skimp on the lime for the soups either. We ordered an extra order of flour tortillas. The food came with two for each but they were so good we got one more order. Also for alternative sweeteners they have yellow blue and my favorite pink which I have found they have available less and less. I will come back again. The menudo was excellent. Only complaint is they could have better soup spoons. Bring your own if you are partial to deeper soup spoons, which is petty in the big picture of it all. My dad is picky as I will get out. I am sleeping good tonight with a warm full tummy! The music is classic Mexican and most of my mom's favorites were playing. She was born in the 40's and loved all the classics.
