Remaining chips and salsa before they were gone

Immediately upon walking I was welcomed and smelled some awesome food. This place is what 8 have. Been looking for near the house. I have been driving 20-30 min to get a decent bite. I ordered (5) Carne Asada tacos and a large fry with a coca cola to wash it down. The food was tasty and fresh, the service was very professional and knowledgeable of the menu and the atmosphere changed my meal from a "to-go" to a dine in and my order came with chips and salsa. I will be back for sure.

Omg!!! I order chilaquillas verdes and asked if they could make them SUPER spicy... the lady said sure.. I was super pleased.

The family and I are back at Taqueria Zavala. This place has fantastic food and everyone that works here are family members with great attitude. This business is all about customer service. Come out and support them they deserve it. I wish my father was still alive because he instilled in me that customer service is the most important thing associated with any business is good customer service. Again, this family provides excellent customer service. One thing to note they have just extended the business hours of operation. See the attached photo of the new hours.

Food is great, service is always great. My favorite place to eat when I come to Red Oak.

SUPPER friendly, super fast, AMAZING prices, fresh, homemade (I'm not 100% sure about the tortillas but still good), authentic. Greatest little breakfast EVER. Real Mexican cheese. Feed 7 people for 80$, 8 bottle drinks were in this price. That might sound like a lot but it was TONS of food. Salsa green and red so good!

If you read any of my reviews, you know I'm a bit of a Chilaquiles fan. I used Yelp to locate this spot as I drove to Dallas. I didn't see Chilaquiles on the menu, but I sheepishly asked, and they were happy to make them. The food I got was phenomenal. The picture doesn't do it justice. These are some of the best Chilaquiles I've ever eaten. Also, the service was friendly and excellent. I wish I lived closer. I would be a regular.

Choosing this place as our brunch spot did not disappoint. The beans were amazing!!! Haha. I really like good beans. All the food was delicious. I can't speak for my friend who joined me for brunch but it did not disappoint us. I loved my huevos rancheros. The salsa was delicious. The potatoes were also very good, you could tell they were fresh. I had the carnitas taco too and the meat was tender. The good overall had great flavor. Next time I'm in the area I will come here for sure, no doubt. The chips were not fresh, you could tell they were bought and obviously to a Hispanic anything but fresh tortillas is kind of a bummer. Wish the flour tortillas had a more authentic taste. None the less, I don't care, the main course was delicious.

The lady at the register was very sweet & helpful! I got the 14inch burrito and it was amazing! Taste like it was made at home! I included the menu as well!

Food was good and seasaoned. We will return. Im not sure if the Manager was the one greeting guest but he never greeted us. Im not sure if it was because we didn't no Spanish but that was kinda rude being that the Restaurant was almost empty and we were the only ones not addressed. I really l Iiked my enchiladas so I will still return possible will get them to go. My husband really liked his burrito. Descent Mexican food with good prices. Horchata isnt flavorful like im use too but for $2, I didn't complain. I will return although I feel if you are not hispanic, you dont get the same welcome so work on that staff and I will give you more stars.

Came here to try their breakfast burritos! Got the Bacon, Chorizo, Potato, and Egg 12inch! Was tempted to try their 14 inch "Monster Burrito!" Very clean inside and friendly service! Prices are reasonable as well. Would happily come back and recommend giving them a try! read more

My cousin and I stopped by for a quick lunch and they were a nice family owned restaurant. They were super nice and answered any questions we had. My cousin tried the Barbacoa plate and i got a kids enchilada as I was not too hungry. They were very accommodating with making sure my meal was vegetarian. The flavors were incredible and the food very well made. I also got the horchata which was a nice sweet blend with cinnamon. Very great find in the area! read more

Delicious! Red Oak is lucky to have this place. Clean, yet funky. And food that is at once not greasy and crave worthy. Fast and friendly service. Feels like you're in a family home with fun friends getting great food. The chilaquiles are excellent. Will definitely be back. read more

Food was okay nothing really good or bad to say about the quality of quantity. This is pretty close to a self service establishment, you place your order and pay then sit down. The idea of paying a tip prior to eating just does not sit well with me. I ordered breakfast with coffee and only had my coffee refilled towards the very end of my visit. The restaurant was very warm inside as well, it was cooler outside when I exited the building than it was inside. I may give them another try in the future and may not, there are too many others to choose from in the area. read more

Coming to Texas from California we were very disappointed to not find great Mexican Food. Everything is Tex Mex and most just aren't very good. So I just started trying different places & cross my fingers. Then we found this little taqueria in Red Oak and they are legit! Turns out they came from Santa Ana, CA and brought traditional Mexican food to Red Oak. Family owned & employees are all siblings working with their father who is the cook (cosinero). So far everything I have ordered has been spot on. Hopefully they will extend their evening hours. read more

The food is on point! The service is fantastic! It's a true family owned and operated authentic taqueria. We had breakfast on a Sunday. The coffee cups are large and filled with fresh coffee, the juevos rancheros served with beans and potatoes were yummy! We tried the lengua taco and it was perfect. The babacoa torta was loaded and delicious. My husband asked for egg and chicharones tacos and he said they were perfect! By the way, if you like spicy ask to try their spicy salsas. This is a true family owned, Ma&Pop kinda place! The menu is simple, it's exactly what I expect from a true taqueria. You can get all the basics here! Everything is made right when you order it, which is always a huge A+ from me! I had a great experience for my first time. The people were wonderful, and kind. If I had an issue with anything at all, they wanted to know so they could fix it. Great joint! I had the regular Beef Torta, it was very good. The bread alone was super soft! Everything was seasoned nicely and I enjoyed the whole thing! I also bought a few Gorditas and they were good too. I would go back anytime! read more

Went to Taqueria Zavala last Friday as I've seen such great reviews. The staff was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome. I ordered chilaqulas and Chile rellenos. Both were terrible. The food tasted like it was scorched and we ended up throwing most of it away. To be fair, we arrived at 3:45 pm which was almost closing time, so maybe that's why it was bad. Maybe it's better earlier in the day. My friend ordered some kind of beef tips in a gravy and hers was good. I feel bad giving a poor review because the staff was great! But so disappointed with the food. :( read more

In the three years we've lived here, I've yet to have a bad meal from Zavala's. The posole is perfectly flavored. The burritos are the best around. The rice and beans aren't bland but are well seasoned. The chile rellenos are delish. Best of all, the people here are so friendly and warm every time I've been there. I don't come in a lot (I don't eat out a lot), but over my three years I've been in enough to say they're consistently good in every respect. California natives, if you're looking for less Tex Mex, more California-style Mexican (aka more flavor), this is your place! read more

The food was very tasty and fresh. I always check the restrooms for cleaniness. If they never clean the restroom, they probably won't clean the kitchen either. The men's restroom is decorated really cool and worth seeing. I took photos for ideas of future remodels. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us several times. I was very pleased and will be back again when I visit again.

It was replaced with ground beef, which tasted much better. What also stood out was that the manager, Chris, walked around greeting every table except ours. We noticed he continued greeting other guests as people came and went, and as an African American family, it made us feel uncomfortable and overlooked. This is not the kind of experience we are used to at Hugo's. Previous managers have always been welcoming and treated everyone fairly, which is one reason we've continued supporting this restaurant over the years. The food was also mediocre compared to past visits and definitely did not taste the same. We have never sent food back before and really hated having to do so, but we didn't want to risk getting sick. We do plan to return because Hugo's has always been known for good food and great customer service. We just hope Chris was simply having an off day, or that improvements are made so every customer feels equally welcomed and valued.

Pre-fab packets of tartar sauce and ketchup are minor demerits; but, the cocktail sauce is homemade with visible flecks of horseradish. Hidden gem - in the bottom of your container, under the fish and fries, are marinated pickle and carrot slices AND a whole jalapeno. There's a kick here that adds a bit of extra spice to your meal. Warning, the tartar sauce and ketchup may be under your meal container hiding from you as everything is packed "to go", even if you're dining there. Dig deep to make sure you find everything. BONUS - canned sodas only and they're ONLY $1.00 (as of today...your experience may be different) Service - counter service with a pager for when your order is ready. The location is on the dark side of the fringe of a freeway/bridge construction/reconstruction zone. All said, be courteous and patient and you'll find a spot. Upside - if you find a parking spot, you'll find a place to sit if you want to dine in. The place is clean, quiet, and has lots of TV's (for the size of the place) to keep you occupied while you wait on the kitchen. I found this place on a random Google maps search and I'm over the moon that I found it and braved the traffic to get inside. The food alone is worth the trip. Stick to what they do best - catfish - filets, strips, or steaks and you'll never be disappointed.

This place is so good!! My mom always loves stopping by here to get some tacos and a nice cold coke. We can tell that it is a family owned business. They always have a smile on their face when you order your food and work to get your food done as soon as possible. They check up on you to insure you have a great meal. I would recommend stopping by, and the food is great so that's another bonus. read more

I've been to Taqueria Zavala several times and not once was a dissatisfied with my order. The food here is authentic Mexican dishes that's afforadable and delicious!
