"Poor quality of work" Towed my truck for A "crank no start" issue. Was told $150 diagnose fee. They checked it out, Was told it had a broken timing belt, Mike suggested a New timing & water pump Kit, Roughly costing $100-$150. After the new belt and pump, I was told there was Little to No cylinder compression, Due to all valves being bent. The cost if going forward would be $3,000 plus, I decided not to continue, I Asked how much at this point I was told about $600 including parts & labor. I said fine, Them i was giving a bill of $861at time of pickup, i questioned about the Extra $200, Which two days later it was changed back to $650. After paying $650 and towing my vehicle back home, I noticed a few things wrong, #1 The Accessory belt was off track Which was properly due to a "Missing Bolt" from the pulley bracket. That is when i started noticing More Bolts missing from the timing belt covers. I immediately called the shop, i was told they would look and call me back, They didn't. I waited two days to talk to Mike to let him know, The call was just passed to the mechanic who did the work, Told him about the missing bolts, He told " ME to find ones that look like the ones missing and bring them to the shop. So basically I paid $140 per hr Labor $236 total $375 for Timing and water pump Kit for 2000 Isuzu Rodeo. Total $650 including taxes i expect this Quality of work from a DIY mechanic Not from a professional. and I'm still finding issues as I dig deeper into the engine. read more

Save yourself time and money. Horrible price rates and they're unfair. Pay attention to the time you leave your car to the time they say "your car is ready". They overcharged me 3 times the labor work for something that should've only taken an hour tops at other shops but I only went to them since they were closest to me when I was starting to have car problems. Mike is the guy who helped me and was being unreasonable and making threats to my boyfriend simply because he was trying to explain that from the time I called to approve the work to be done to the time they said it was done, is not the time he was charging me for. We came calm and respectful, but Mike and the receptionist only escalated things by calling the cops because we caught them trying to scam us. read more

Had a GREAT experience at La Verne Auto Center today. I was referred by my Mom and thankful. Mike was so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. As a woman, the last thing I wanted to do is to go to an automotive center. I took my daughters car to have the brakes looked at and he was so honest and checked the brake pads and assured me that there was plenty of pad still on there and the car did not need anything! What mechanic tells you that the car doesn't need anything?! I truly appreciated his honesty and will definitely return again and highly recommend this place! After a poor diagnosis and failed repair by Honda, I turned to my local repair store, La Verne Auto Center. My Honda dealer was unable to resolve an idle set problem, which resulted in the car stalling in difficult places. Michael worked through the multiple issue problem, advised me about each stage of analysis, and associated costs--three phone calls over the course of a day. I retrieved my car in the afternoon, and then returned the next day for some additional minor adjustment at no cost. Mike, the owner, is skilled, fair, and scrupulously honest. My cars over the years have had the best possible attention. Mike is one of the few mechanics I've met who is as kind, fair, and honest with a female client as he is with a male one. La Verne Auto Center's repairs are done quickly, but correctly, without any "extras" thrown in without the car owner's permission. If Mike or one of his people notices something on the car that is going to need attention soon, they do not hesitate to bring it to the customer's attention. Likewise, if the customer goes in thinking something is wrong and it isn't, Mike and his people will let the customer know what the actual problem is and why it seemed like something else, then talk about what can be done to fix the car. The last place you want to have your car break down is when you're on vacation. Unfortunately that's just what happened to us. Having no clue who to trust to fix our car I started asking the hotel employees and servers at the restaurant where we had dinner. Two different people recommended La Verne Auto so we crossed our fingers and took it there. SO glad we did! Even though it was late Friday and they looked busy when I explained to them we were on vacation and had to be back on the road by Sunday they said "no problem we'll take care of you". And that's just what they did. Mike, the owner, even stayed open late Saturday so it would be ready for us. We finished our vacation with no other car problems and made it safely back home. The only thing that was bad is they are way too far from my home or they would be our awesome new mechanics. Thanks guys for saving the day!!! read more

When I first started bringing my car here for repairs, Mike was honest and very reasonable. I trusted him and had been taking my car here for years The last time I brought my care here in September 2013 for just a smog test, which he usually does right on the spot , I even called the day before and he said to bring my car in at 8am and I did, but he told me to leave it, so I did. He called me within 30 minutes and said I needed a hose replaced, never specifying which hose. I called 3 hours later and my car still wasn't ready (for a hose?). When I came to pick up my car, no one was in sight and the auxiliary was on with my radio playing low enough that you couldn't hear it until you got up to the car, running down a brand new battery. A week later I drove the car to Utah, where it was 28 degrees and snowing. when I turned on my heater it blew out cold air which never got warm. Just think, I could have stopped to use the bathroom or something, got in my car to find that it wouldn't start because the battery was dead, got stranded in 28 degree weather and my son and I could have froze to death! I hate to write a negative review but everytime I drive past this garage I get angry. I trusted Mike to do oil change and safety check on our motorhome which includes checking the tires. Paid $150 for it. On a trip the following week, experienced wobble in steering. At destination, checked tires and left front was worn to cord and that couldn't have just happened in 300 miles. Roadside service checked tire pressure on all tires and they were all underinflated. In complaining to Mike about this he stated that people prefer to have the tires underinflated. Hello! Shouldn't I be the one to decide this? He didn't offer any apology. Along with this, I was noticing the motor was not idling as it should. In taking rig to a different site and asking them to check this, they stated the air cleaner was not properly installed. No wonder the rig was ready to pick up so soon after I left it at La Verne Auto. They probably never looked at the tires and did a slip shod job on the rest. I paid $150 for nothing but an oil change. Obviously, I find Rose Auto Center in Monclair to be the better choice. I only changed to LVA to give a local merchant my business. LVA's labor rate is about the same as most other garages so don't be fooled into thinking they are more reasonable. read more
