Best BBQ l've ever had!!!!! Local owner/Chef! Directly across from Naval Base and they are big supporters of our Men & Women in Armed Forces. Amazing BBQ, Brisket and pulled pork doesn't get any better. Smoked Turkey was amazing!! Sandwiches or plates are large portions. I'm down here for work and I go here three days a week for lunch, already gained 5 pounds lol. Only open until Sold Out so get here early cause they always sell out

I was craving some bbq, so I decided to stop by this place for the first time since I heard positive reviews about it already. The area is outside, but there is enough space for seatings. Service was pretty nice and quick. I ordered the "Top Gun," which is an order of 2 meats with 2 sides ($20.00). For the meats, I got their brisket & ribs. For the sides, I got their coleslaw & baked beans. I also got an extra fountain drink ($2.00). Their ribs were delicious! It tasted really tender and had the right amount of flavor to it. The brisket was good as well, but I felt like it was a bit dry (but still good). Coleslaw was okay too, but the baked beans were really tasty with extra meat added to it as well. I thought the pricing was pretty decent, but I wish they would've added 1 or 2 more pieces of meat but it's all good. Overall, La23 BBQ is a nice chill spot for some bbq. It's right across the naval base, so you'll see alot of military personnel eat here. But be warned... I got here exactly at 11 am when lunch opens, and there was already a line! That's how you know the place is good!

My boyfriend and I went to LA23 BBQ one day for lunch. We got there about 30 minutes after it opened and there was already a huge line and wait. They ended up selling out of a few things right after we ordered, so definitely plan on getting there early. We got the ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese and beans. They were all very good. I would definitely go back and try more things including the breakfast tacos which sound really good.

Outside the main gate of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans is LA 23 BBQ. Each assignment to the base, I make it a requirement to stop at this place for lunch, and I always bring someone. They offer many options, and the food is out of this world. Plus, you'll notice all of the squadron stickers from the base and from other countries temporarily assigned to the base challenge coins.

Brisket Sandwich with the slaw, sauce and pickles with small side of beans. Very good!

First time here got some lunch at noon on a Friday. Got the Brisket sandwich, small side of beans and fountain drink for $21 with a tip. Brisket I went with the slaw, sauce and pickles added into it. The brisket was so good and just fell apart in your mouth! Excellent BBQ!! Will return when in the area!!

I came here because of reviews on Yelp and read some good things about their food. Plus it's close to the naval base where we shop at the commissary, so stopping in wasn't out of the way at all. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, (which had loads of unseasoned meat) and a side of baked beans. Although the meat was not flavorful or seasoned at all, the bbq sauce made up for what the meat lacked. I'll give their sauce five stars! That said, I've certainly had better pulled pork but this was not the absolute worst. So, I'll stop right here as I'm opting to modulate my thoughts about their decor. I was uncomfortable here. Not sure if I'd return but if I do, I'll probably try the brisket.

Surprised I haven't done a review on this spot, especially since my family and I frequent here at least twice a month. Talk about delicious! All the meat is smoked and the bbq sauce is incredible. Family favorite indeed. Must try!

Every SINGLE time I tried to eat at this establishment they were sold out. The line for this place is always long and their parking lot is packed. Today I was on the fence of whether I should get ribs or brisket. The decision was made for me because they were sold out of ribs. I got a lunch plate of brisket, mac & cheese, and baked beans. The Mac & cheese was nothing special. The baked beans had a kick to them and meat. The baked beans were delicious. The brisket was delicious. I can see why they always sell out. I hope to try the ribs one day lol

Top Gun! Ribs, pork, brisket, beans, mac and cheese

Leg-end-ary! And I am not only talking about the BBQ, but this joint is one-of-a kind! First of all, it feels like it is at the ends of the Earth as you have to drive south about a good 20 miles South from New Orleans as it is located in Belle Chasse. Second, there is no inside dining here. It has picnic tables sat up underneath a huge awning. Third, this place looks like it is just put up in a parking lot between a busy highway and a too close for comfort railroad track. Fourth, the 3 meat plate is called "Top Gun!" Are you ready now to see this place because if you are not, the BBQ is phenomenal! I went with the fore-mentioned Top Gun that comes with 3 meats and 2 sides. I chose brisket, pork, ribs, baked beans, and mac and cheese. The Ribs were super tender with an excellent sweet glaze. I do not know the type of ribs they are but my guess is some sort of baby back that is separated. The bone is curved and short and meaty on top. The pork was perfect as it was also tender and not dry! The same can be said about the brisket. I really can't decide which meat I liked the best. They were all phenomenal! The beans had a smoky flavor to them but also had pieces of brisket in them. The amazing mac and cheese had a distinct cheesy flavor to it. I asked what did they do to it and basically all they said was they smoked it too! There are 2 sauces - a sweet and mustard. Neither have any heat and if you have ever came across my other reviews on Yelp, you would know I am a sauce-a-holic. I felt like the sauce didn't add much to the meats. That is not saying that the sauces were not good, but just tells you how good the meats were. The one thing I did not like was the absence of a pure sweet tea. There is a sweet tea made with lemon, but it tastes more like a mild lemonade. At first, I didn't like that, but it grew on me. So now, I will be satisfied with their mild lemonade sweet tea. Another reviewer said this might be the best BBQ in Louisiana. He might be right or he isn't that far off.

Overall delicious BBQ!…read more Smoked sausage was good and tasty. Smoky with a little spicy heat. Crispy Brussel sprouts were a highlight! Soaked in a delicious sweet and flavorful sauce. I still love their boudin, of course, but I recently tried their smoked turkey salad! I love that they have a salad on their menu because generally, any BBQ you go to will never have a salad. And this one is really good! They aren't stingy on the ingredients either. The turkey was so juicy and I don't know how they did that, turkey is usually dry. Maybe they spatchcocked it. In any event, this juicy, moist, turkey salad was so good, I could not eat it all! It was so much food. DONT SLEEP ON THE SALAD AT A BBQ PLACE! :-D Also, mac n cheese is really good. We also ordered their meats, their brisket and pulled pork are great as well. Love their BBQ sauces. This is a side note, but I wish they would have made a second Central City BBQ when they instead did their tex mex Las Cruces. Metry has no good BBQ and I think CCBBQII would have made a killing! Keep up the fantastic work in Central City, I will be back for sure!

When you walk in there are coolers of drinks, slush machines, and Boba tea. There's also a buffet of the seafood and other things to choose from for your hot pot or grill. The waiter was friendly and super patient as I asked a ton of questions. (I told you it was my first hot pot experience) Lol. I ultimately ended up trying the "less spicy" broth, which was extremely spicy. Next time, I'll get no spice. I was extremely excited but ultimately ended up having mixed feelings when I found out every drink in the cooler is open for you to have with the hot pot and Korean BBQ. I wanted to try so many things but they were full sized bottles or cans and I didn't want to waste them. Plus, you can take anything our of the restaurant. That's understandable because you don't want people just opening a bunch of drinks just to be able to take them out. However, not allowing them to be taken out, promotes waste. I would suggest getting mini versions of all of the drinks so there's less chance of waste but, you can also enjoy more than one thing. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd go back. The 4 stars is for the whole drink set up and the fact that I wasn't given instruction on how to turn the hot pot on. I sat there thinking my food was cooking for a good 15 minutes and it wasn't.

We were able to try a variety of meats and sides but our favorites were the beef fat fries, smoked turkey breast, pork sausage, and collard greens. The beef fat fries were well-seasoned and topped with the most unique queso cheese, while the collard greens were aromatic and extremely flavorful. That being said, the portion sizes for the meats left a little to be desired and the macaroni and cheese was a tad overcooked. Contrary to its name, there also seemed to be very little cheese in the pimento cheese grits, although the consistency of the corn was smooth and perfectly cooked. We also didn't care for the chopped brisket which was rather dry and under seasoned. The vinegary BBQ sauces were also too runny for our taste, though despite the consistency, the House BBQ sauce still packed a punch. I would've also liked to have more than just one slice of bread to balance out all the additional sides and condiments. All in all, I would definitely eat at this spot again even if it was solely for the beef fat fries or the collard greens. The meats did not impress us much but the staff was super polite and the service was quick.

Well, if you're going to push a culture's food, you have to go all in with learning the local ways of preparation. In gist, I have to knock off 1 star for the limited sizes for poboys. Offering out only the 12 inch or the meat on bun just seems wrong, ESPECIALLY if you will charge over $10 for any poboy. It's a poor boy after all! It's New Orleans and it was known for big portions for a cheap price. Granted, that was the way before Hurricane Katrina. You lose another star for not living up to a "fully dressed" poboy. A fully dressed poboy should never feel dry. Also, I asked for Crystals hot sauce on my poboy and you forgot it. That's a culinary sin my good people. Overall, these New Orleans implants did a good job on customer service in regards of greeting and giving you an approximate wait time. Outside of that, they need to write down what customers are asking for that isn't programmed into your computer. The menu offerings are decent, and pricing is set a little too high for my liking. You may feel different. Try them out and let me know what you think. Just letting you know that for me, the poboy was too dry, and the shrimp could have been seasoned a tad bit more.
