My sister and I have been searching for raw marinated crabs and we found it here! We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately. The ambiance is very casual and is similar to the Korean BBQ places in other major cities, playing K Pop with dim lights. The tables and chairs were a bit sticky. Raw marinated crabs were spicy but very flavorful and is yummy with fresh rice. It was still a little frozen and would have tasted better thawed. The Jajangmyeon's noodles were cooked perfectly and I loved the texture of the noodles. It came with plenty of sauce so we mixed the rest of the Japchae noodles with it. The Japchae was ok by itself, but delicious when mixed with the Jajangmyeon! This was my first time trying the Army stew. It had spam, sausages, rice cakes, tofu, cheese and noodles. For such a huge pot, I wish that it came with more noodles. The tofu was very soft and this stew is perfect for a rainy or cold day. read more

I've always seen this restaurant on my way in and out from the Hong Kong Market, but we never tried it until recently. It's located in the same building as the Market, so it's really convenient if you're already planning to go shopping there. The items on the menu are neither cheap nor expensive. It's pricier than area Chinese places, but that's to be expected for Korean food. I would say it's averagely priced for Korean cuisine. We tried their: *Bibimbap ($15) - This was my favorite out of the dishes we tried. It was yum! Lots of veggies, toppings, a fried egg, and a good bit of meat. We got pork, and it was well-seasoned with no fatty pieces. I didn't love the sauce it came with, so I ate this with some soy sauce and it was delish! The portion for this is generous, but it's a lighter dish with plenty of veggies, so you wont feel gross even if you finish the whole thing! *Beef Bulgogi ($20) - The flavoring for this dish is on the sweeter side, so my boyfriend wouldn't enjoy it, but I liked it. However, the beef was a little dry, and I wished it had more sauce on it. The cuts of meat were fair quality - there were definitely some fatty pieces I did not eat, but overall decent cuts! This dish came with so much food, you could eat just half the portion and be full for lunch. *Kimchi fried rice ($14) - This was also pretty good! Seasoned and cooked well, it wasn't very spicy either. However, the pieces of meat in it (ham? sausage?) were so tiny! I wished they were a bit bigger, so I could taste it better. I think they could have given you more for this price since it's just rice and a tiny amount of meat, but it tasted good though. *Grilled Mackerel ($20) - I liked this, but the fish was definitely fried instead of grilled. Because it was fried, a lot of the bonier parts had become crispy and delicious, but it wasn't as advertised, and I was disappointed. Also, it comes with nothing on the side (no rice, no side, no pickles, etc.) This is literally just a whole fish they deep fried and put on a plate. We've known about this place for a few months now but finally decided to give it a try today... and as much as I try not to give anyone or any restaurant a low score, I can't give this place anything higher than a 3. Service was great, they use a button system that lets staff know if we need assistance and the staff was very attentive. So there's no fault there. The food was okay; it wasn't bad but also not extraordinarily good either. This place could've been a decent KBBQ on the westbank, but the price to quantity drops the score. $32 for about 6-8 pieces of Galbi & Tofu Soup, really steep IMO. read more

This was a last minute decision to go get dinner with my family. Steamed eggs, beef bulgogi, and chicken wings were the best on the menu. We would ordered meats and would wait for almost 20 minutes, we understand short staff but then we would order more and it didn't come out because it went to a different table due to miscommunication. Then my server proceeded to say "I didn't charge you for the meat you didn't finish" we never got the meat!!! Other server was taking shots of soju with customers on shift. It's not a fast pace spot and it wasn't busy. Then there was 20% surcharge for more than 5 people in a group; in actually "the computer" charged 22%!!! Check your bills. And unexplained "taxes" that the server couldn't even tell me what they were. read more

ROACHES ON/UNDER TABLE (see pic attached) - - after having lunch and paying our bill, we see roaches! One going up the table another underneath. Meat was decent, the sides tasted off & old just not fresh at all. The corn cheese had a weird metallic taste, maybe from container they give it to you in for cooking. The best thing we tasted was the steamed egg, but after seeing the roaches - I wish we had not eaten there! our servers were good however. It is definitely not worth the 230$ bill for a family of 5. A Korean gem next to Hong Kong Market! We went for lunch on the weekend and got seated right away. The dining area is so nice! The service was very attentive and friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes. Tteokbokki, japchae, bulgogi, and a side of mandu. All hit the spot. I even grabbed some kimbap to take home for dinner. Sooooo good! Even the banchan stood out to me. The cucumbers were my favorite. Our server was so kind to bring me extra. The kimchi tasted homemade. You can even buy some to take home! I am so excited that the Westbank has a Korean restaurant! Korean food is the one food that is lacking in the New Orleans area. I stopped in today for lunch and I'll be the first to admit I really know nothing about Korean food. However, everything on the menu sounded great and, thanks to good old Google, I was able to easily figure out what I wanted. To start, the waitress brought out a sampler of a few items just to get us started. For an appetizer, we got the Kimchijun, which is a Kimchi-flavored pancake dish. We also got Kimchi Jigjae, which is kimchi soup, and Bibimbap which is meat, egg, rice, and a few other things served in a hotpot. It was all fantastic! Like I said, I am very green when it comes to Korean food, but the food here was excellent and packed with flavor. The restaurant is still in "soft opening" mode, and plan to visit again to try a few more items. read more

Ate at this restaurant a couple of times now in the last month. First time just a few of us trying it out since it had just opened, the second time with a large group because food really is good! So happy there is finally a decent Korean food place in town!! Dishes we tried so far: Kimchi hotpot - I love spicy food and the flavor is on point! They bring the pot out with all the food items already cooked (for the most part) and heat it on a gas stove on the table. Tofu, glass noodles, meat bites, rice cakes, veggies, soup... very delicious! Beef bone hotpot - flavor is also very good, if you don't like spicy, this is a great alternative! Comes with similar items in the pot, tofu, glass noodles, rice cakes, veggies and very generous portion of beed bones with meat on the bones and tendon pieces! Seafood pancake - also very legit with big and lots of green onions, crispy texture on the outside and soft once you bite into it! Banchan - the selection of small side dishes is just okay, the flavor of them is also just okay, I've had much better (not in NOLa area though). Japchae - simple and good flavor! Galbi and bulgogi - you don't cook them yourself on the table (so no worries about smelling like smoke after the meal!), they are brought out on sizzling pan, flavor is good! Wait staff is very friendly and the overall experience had been great the both times. I do think that their prices are high, especially compared to what I'm used to in SoCal, but I guess when there aren't many (if any) competitions, you can have a higher price point. I will definitely return to try other dishes like soon du bu, jigae and bibimbap. It is located inside the Hong Kong Supermarket entrance, there are no signs on the outside! read more

First time trying the ayce bbq, most of the meat was pretty tasty but the side dishes are pretty bad and not too fresh. Salad was terrible. Also they are pretty stingy about the meats that you can only order twice like the galbi, they only gave out 2 small strips at a time when there's 5 of us eating. They also didn't even have ribeye steak when we paid extra for that part of the deal. I still enjoyed my meal overall just hope they can improve the side dishes. There's also a 20% tip automatically added when there's 5 or more party even though the menu is posted for 18% and they also automatically charge a service fee on top but I don't know why cause you have to go get your own sides and rice read more

My family and I dined here on the 2nd day of their grand opening. We ordered the Tteok-bokki (Korean spicy rice cake), Beef Rib & Bone Hot Pot, and Grilled Atka Mackerel. The service was nice, but the entire restaurant was very unprepared. For starters, they didn't even have bowls for us to eat our hot pot with. So they just told us we had to use the tiny plates from our side dishes, which is very unprofessional as the plates are not meant for a hot pot dish (broth and meat couldn't even fit on the small plate). Also, the mackerel was too salty to eat. Another thing is that they did not even serve us rice, a common side dish every Asian restaurant should at least have. The actual hot pot was decent, but overpriced for the quality. For the side dishes, they were not enough to feed 3 people (the amount of people for our table). The Tteok-bokki was okay, but we were already upset about the unavailability of bowls. They weren't even packed when we arrived. As a restaurant establishment, they should've been prepared with equipment (especially on the most important week for the business). They're literally next to a supermarket (Hong Kong Food Market), so they could've just instantly bought bowls over there if they didn't have them. The total came to be almost $100, but we felt like our meal should've been cheaper considering everything we had to deal with. I truly hope this restaurant changes for the better soon, but overall my family and I didn't have a great experience with K Town. read more

Was told that this was a hidden gem on the westbank. I don't agree. The location itself is convenient as it's in the Hong Kong market. The weekday hours make sense as it's when people get off of work and might grocery shop. It's nice knowing ( or thinking) that the produce comes straight over from there meaning it's somewhat fresher. However , the AYCE is a joke really. You can not dine here as a single person with that option. Which I've seen them lose out on business from. An easy fix is to bring out half portions for single diners and give them the option to order the second half. OR give full portion since waste is charged anyway! The main items that people go to AYCE for are limited to one order per two people dining. Sucks. The seasoned or brined meats are not actually seasoned or anything. They lack flavor. The beef ribs ( take forever to cook) and are not a good quality. Some tenderizer would go a long way or pre cooking them and then giving to guest to finish on the grill top. With some foods taking 30 minutes to cook, your time at the grill is shortened. Unlike most AYCE KBBQ places, you only have 90 minutes instead of the standard 2 hrs /120 minutes of dining time. Which on an empty night, should be overlooked. If you have a large party, expect to not eat much. The employees don't go above nor beyond for the guest. They hardly check for needing refills and seem disgruntled when asked to change the cook top. There aren't any fans in the place so it may get smoky at times. The grill does seem to have a small mechanism that limits smoke but still beware. The music is decent. Does not sync up with either television ( that do not play the same videos). Tables are somewhat small. If there's a part of 4 and you order 3-4 items, you're almost forced to immediately cook food to clear space. read more

Came here about a month ago. Me, my girlfriend and my two best friends got the ayce deluxe deal for $35 each. We timed our ordering poorly, but the manager was kind enough to help us out with cooking and gave us extra orders. He also gave us a free order of fried chicken! We stayed past closing in order to finish all our orders and the staff waited patiently and even had to unlock the door to let us out! We really appreciate the great hospitality we received here. Unprofessional attitude of the crew:: After we pay the bills and leave I found out in the receipt the cashier/manager over charge us. so while still in the area I decided to come back to claim the over charge money . I spoke the same guy in the cashier and claim to be a manager too and he find out their mistake for over charging and decided to pay me back but less amount instead full amount. He said he won't give me more money and told me to leave then I told him I'm not leaving until he gave rest of my money, after that he started became look angry at me and telling me that even I stay there he won't give more money. He become more aggressive and try to swing at me when an older man come to resolve the problem. Thanks to the old man he resolved the problem without any issues. No pictures this time around, we were pretty hungry when we went there. My husband had the Tteok-Bokki as an appetizer. He said it was VERY spicy as well as tasty (he ate the whole dish), and this is coming from a New Orleans native son. He had the Pork Bulgogi as his main dish. and he reports that the thicker chunks of pork were "okay" but did not have the flavor of other parts, such as where this dish really shined: the thinner cuts of pork that had been seared a bit more. Those were tantalizing. He did not finish his plate due to not caring much for the thicker cuts of pork, but he definitely had enough to eat between this dish and the appetizer. For my own dish, I do not remember the name of it, and I tried to search for it online, but there are only pictures of their old menu and they do not have the noodle dishes listed on the older menus. So my dish was essentially small dark meat chicken chunks, vegetables, and noodles, in a spicy/savory sauce. I quite enjoyed it, although if you are not a spicy food person it may be a bit hot for you. For me, on a 1-5 spicy scale, with 5 being maximum spicy, this would get around a 2.5-3 (hotter leaning if you choose to eat the jalapeño slices in it). Overall, there was nothing bad about our experience, it was just fine. The waitress was attentive/friendly. The bathrooms were clean. I think my husband described the experience perfectly: It was like going over to a friend's house and having them prepare a meal for you. Nothing fancy, just good home cooking. The four stars instead of five is given because of the lack of an updated online menu and the part mentioned above with my husband's Pork Bulgogi dish. We stopped by on Sunday. First time. The place is bright and spacious. The food was excellent. I had the Yukgaejang(spicy beef soup). Great peppery beef flavor. Large portion. Spicy enough to let me know it was there. Very pleasant. I had to take the rest home. I think the beef was shredded. It was very tender. My wife had beef bulgogi. Again a large portion. My friends and I went to this place not long after their opening. We ordered Kimchi hotpot and it was the worst kimchi hotpot I had ever have, the pork has a fishy smell, it seems they either don't know how to cook pork or it's not fresh. The menu claims kimchi hotpot contains shellfish but not at all. We couldn't find any seafood in it, just a bunch of kimchi, smelly pork, vegs, very few rice cake and this cost us ridiculous high $48. The other dishes still didn't reach the bar and the cost is high too. The only good thing is the service, but nothing can compensate the bad taste. read more

The place is still in soft opening but it's worth a try. I ordered corn cheese, dolsot bibimbap, and pork belly. Corn cheese is good, but it's hard to mess up. When the pork belly came out I thought that the portion was too small but by the end of the meal I was actually pretty full and it was pretty good too. Dolsot bibimbap was good. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Some prices are too high like the seafood pancake ($22) and the LA Galbi ($30) so I would definitely like to see a price decrease. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I had a bad premonition the moment I stepped in on a Sunday at noontime and there was almost no customers eating inside. The service wasn't terrible but wasn't great. When asked about their deluxe all-you-can-eat menu, they weren't sure if the rib eye steak was even available.. which is one of their two top meats on the deluxe menu. Turns out it wasn't available. Their appetizers, which they don't serve you but you have to get it for yourself from a bar, was lacking in quantity and freshness. It looked like the appetizers sat there for days and the kimchi had absolutely no flavor. The quality of the food was so bad.. I could've gotten better meat from the Hong Kong market next door and marinate it better myself. Their thin- sliced pork belly was rubbery and tasted artificial. Their bulgogi tasted old. Their corn cheese.. I don't even know what that was.. maybe it was cardboard macaronni with artificial cheese? They don't have a charcoal grill but rather use an electric grill which does not give the meat any of the smokiness you would expect from a typical kbbq place. And they charge an $35 for the deluxe and have the audacity to put an extra charge for unfinished food.. food that is barely edible. Thank god I had stowed a peppermint in my pocket before going.. because the residual taste of what I had eaten made me sick to my stomach.. So if you want poor quality kbbq and food poisoning from a place without any resemblance of what a kbbq place should be, this is your best bet. read more
