Brown sugar sea salt iced latte
    Aminah K.

Very cute coffee shop. It is very bright and has a lot of greenery. Their menu has some unique items. I got the brown sugar sea salt latte. It was the perfect balance of sweet with a little salty. The indoor seating is limited. They also have some outside seating.

Cute little coffee shop just down the street from the University of Michigan. Great place to grab a yummy coffee and muffin for breakfast or a snack. I loved that their regular coffee is pour over. Definitely a nice change of pace from normal drip coffee. Due to Covid, we sat outside which was was wonderful as it was a lovely day, but it looks like normally there is a decent amount of indoor tables.

I was drawn to Lab Cafe's unique menu with beet, tumeric, ube, and blue butterfly pea lattes. I first tried the beetroot latte which was very clumpy and starchy. The staff was very sweet to make me a tumeric latte instead which was better, but not great- still very gritty and powdery. My boyfriend's ube latte was purple but had no ube flavor and was not that great of a latte, either. Cool menu, but not the greatest drinks.

I am absolutely in love with this location! The decor inside is so earthy and unique, and it put the biggest smile on my face. The staff are very catering to your needs, and have a bunch of recommendations based on what you're craving. I got a Lavender Mocha, which I have never tried before, and was blown away. The refreshing taste was just what I needed to get me through the day. My friend got a chocolate croissant and I went with a chocolate caramel cupcake! The cupcake went perfect with my mocha, and it was a great selection overall. I got a lemonade to top off the meal, and it was the perfect drink that left me feeling new and fresh! Highly recommend this location!

    Delicious latte, fall 2019.

I love this coffee shop! It has a very clean aesthetic, yet is welcoming... Let me tell you about the coffee, though, since that is the primary reason to go to a coffee shop. Their drinks are incredible! Excellent roasts, delicious concoctions, and baked goods to accompany. We were truly pleased with our lattes (lillie got a lavender oat milk latte), and will be going back as soon as we are able. The baristas were both friendly and expert crafters. Truly? This is the first place we'll hit up when we head to a2 next. They made me happy and satisfied my intense coffee craving. Go...You'll be glad you did!

Had such a lovely morning at Lab Cafe! The staff was super friendly and the menu had some really awesome options. I opted for a simple iced chai latte which was perfect, with a warm and flaky chocolate croissant. My partner ordered an iced lavender honey latte! Such a wonderful location for a date or just to do some reading alone. Definitely would visit again.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Ann Arbor. Amazing coffee, delicious sangria, the best desserts, and seriously on point aesthetics. Influencers, add this to your list for your next gram if you haven't already. My favorites here are the cafe con miel and green tea latte. They always have amazing snacks like large cookies and cakes in adorable glass displays at the front. I'm also a fan of their sangria options. They have great window seating that lets you watch the snow fall (or people watch) while you sit cozy inside, and there are tables if you need to do work or are chatting with a friend. AND! This place is setting to the love story between Joanna, owner of Lab, and Thomas, owner of Tomukun next door. They opened their respective stores around the same time, later getting married. That's when they constructed the adjoining entrance in the wall shared between the two stores as a nod to their union. https://annarborobserver.com/articles/the_midtown_restaurant_revival_marches_on.html#.XiOGl1VKj5J When the wait at Tomukun Noodle Bar is long, I sit in Lab with a drink to wait for my table. Servers will come and grab me when they're ready to seat me and my friends. I'm able to bring my beverage with me into Tomukun if I didn't finish it by the time my table is ready. Can't recommend Lab enough! Seriously worth a visit for anyone who's on the fence.

I am a SBUX fan girl (sorry it's hard to beat their mobile app experience, unique drinks that highlight more obscure premium ingredients) BUT I love Lab. Why? Solely for their New Orleans-style Cold Brew. I never thought I'd be able to find this outside of Blue Bottle Coffee on the West Coast. It's not hard to make -- it's just cold brew roasted with chicory + simple syrup + some type of milk -- but it's not on a lot of menus! So, THANK U LAB. Do yourself a favor & get yourself some rocket fuel aka NOLA-style Cold Brew!

My first visit, I came in wondering about the shop and atmosphere nearby. Alyssa was kind enough to provide information to me about the surrounding places. She is very kind and friendly. I asked for recommendations for other related food and beverage places and she provided me a list. The drip coffee is counter culture and has been brewed to a good recipe that is enjoyable to taste. Outlets and seatings are provided if you're one to study or work remotely. Water station is in the back of the shop near the large windows. Pastries can be purchased for those hungry or you can just walk next door to an asian resturant that has $11 lunch specials throughout the week. Restrooms are clean. The place can be a little noisy, although expected from a coffee shop near campus. I would not recommend taking a call inside for work, but calls are manageable. I recommend this coffee shop to anyone locally or coming in from out of town. The enviornment is friendly.

Very aesthetic, cute, and cozy coffee and tea shop in Ann Arbor on UMich's campus. I'm a fan of the vibe, coffee and service. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon but the cashier still took the time to chitchat with each customer. There's lots of different drinks to choose from and I finally selected the vanilla rose latte. Yum! Nice balance of vanilla and rose flavors, mixing for a unique combination. I will be back if I visit UM again!

I am not in Ann Arbor often but I stumbled upon this little gem one day after lunch. I love the space, it's all white and airy, there's a boho chic vibe when you walk in. What drew me in was the chalkboard sign that said "honey and lavender latte." I had the same thing on a recent trip to Dallas and haven't found another place who makes this close to me. Walking up to the counter, there are goodies available to purchase, most are from the songbird cafe and they look delicious! This place is also located next to a very busy noodle kitchen so it can get noisy at times. The seating is limited so you may have to end up sharing a small table with someone. The lavender latte was so delicious, it was perfect for the cold, windy day we were having. I will definitely be back, I really enjoyed coming here! It's a nice place to catch up with a friend or get some work done.

aesthetic: 4.5/5 food: 5/5 service: 5/5 lab is my favourite cafe in downtown aa!! it's good and bad that i live right down the street from here haha the inside is very aesthetic, with lots of greenery and cute trinkets displayed on the floating shelves, and their iced lavender matcha lattes are to die for!! i recommend getting your latte with almond or coconut mylk, and pairing it with one of their vegan pastries. (their brownie and energy bar are my current faves) although lab does not have indoor seating for now due to covid, they do have a few outdoor tables for customers to sit at. it's the perfect way to take a quick sit-down break between classes or enjoy a nice, sunny day in a2 over delicious drinks. there is free wifi too, which is a plus. i hope lab can open up indoor dining soon, especially with the freezing weather that's about to start!! the ambiance is so calming and would make for an awesome, quiet study spot. while i feel that the drinks are on the slightly sweeter and pricier side, lab's convenience to central campus classes, large offering of unique non/caffeinated beverages and goodies, and friendly service make it definitely somewhere that's worth making your go-to coffee shop :)

Very cute coffee shop in downtown Ann Arbor. I really like the nice relaxing ambiance. There's a lot of different types of seating making it a great place to hang out with friends, meet with a colleague or just do some work or study. I had the Vanilla Rose Latte and it was delicious. I love that the rose flavor is very subtle! I'd recommend getting it with almond milk as the flavor blends really well! Definitely a great spot!

I might actually buy coffee and tea as holiday gifts for my coworkers. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is because the women's bathroom was not clean, customer service can be improved, and some music can really make the cafe more inviting. I made coupe of orders, one included dessert. I was handed the cake with no fork, had to ask for one. Wasn't given napkins and didn't bother asking. I might sound petty, but honestly the product can be great. However, customer service is what brings customers back. There needs to be proper training. If I'm going to spend money and do everything myself and ask for everything that should be the basic/ standard, then I might as well make my coffee at home. It terms of music, I think it would amplify the space. When I stopped by the cafe, I was the only one in the main space and it was dead silent and all I can hear is the buzzing of the cooler that had the water and pop/ drinks. Some light music in the background would've blocked that noise. I only share this because I would love to see this business thrive.

The main thing Drip House has going for it is that it is effectively the only coffee spot to sit and study or meet someone right by the stadium (where a bunch of us live and/or work). It is also open into the early evening when a lot of other coffee spots aren't. And we do love an outside seating option. The service has always been just fine and it's a pretty cute spot (not to sound ridiculously nit-picky but while we're here--someone might wanna sheer some of the many dead leaves off the beautiful plant inside though). Also, the banana oat latte they had as a special a couple months ago was delicious. So yummy. Some things I don't love about Drip House: the blue chairs. So uncomfortable. It is expensive and, dare I say, overpriced. The first time I got my $14 piece of ricotta toast, it was delicious. And I figured, fine. It's $14 for a piece of bread with a little cheese and jam but it's so yummy, I'll splurge every once in a while and go with it. Plus, I can't eat tree nuts, so it is one of the few options for me. However, the second time I got it, it was most definitely not worth it. The "whipped" ricotta was just a sad, thin wet layer and there was practically no jam. I get it. It's expensive out here. We're living in the shadows of the avocado toast economy where espresso drinks cost minimum $7 and you effectively can't buy anything for less than $4. But just because you feel like you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* Paying $14 for a piece of bread.... Come on. It's insulting. It feels exploitative. Will i be going back? Yes, because of the proximity and sometimes a girl needs to go for a cute little walk to get a coffee--just to feel something. Would I if there was a competing coffee shop nearby? That remains to be seen. Also the size of the "large" iced drink. Come on guys.

We found nearby street parking and we were able to get a spot on a comfy couch that was near a power strip. There isn't a ton of seating so I imagine it can get busy throughout the day. The building is historic and also houses a coworking space which has a lot of really great amenities. The vibe inside the coffee shop is cozy but modern, and I loved the decor. They also had some really great merch - the tote bags were calling my name! I ordered the cardamom fig latte and Nate got a golden milk latte. They do that thing where they just yell out the name of the drink rather than taking your name, but I loved everything else about this place. The cardamom fig latte was unique and definitely tasted of both cardamom and fig. They have bagels and some pastries. I really liked the varied seating (comfy couches/chairs, tables, and bar seating) and plentiful outlets for getting work done. The wifi was fast and consistent. Most recently I came here for a meeting, ordering a vanilla latte and a sweet potato hand pie to nibble on since I hadn't eaten yet. The description of the latter sounded so good, sweet potatoes with black beans and a few other veggies, wrapped up in flaky pie dough. The filling, however, was mostly pureed, giving it more of a baby food consistency which I didn't love. The flavor was good though but I couldn't get over the mushy texture. The black beans weren't pureed in but were few and far between (I think I maybe counted 2 or 3?). In addition to my hand pie I also ordered a piece of the billionaire's shortbread but they didn't ring it up/prepare it. By the time I realized it (I had to wait for my hand pie to be heated up) it was only a few minutes before close so I didn't bother going back up to the counter to reorder. IDK if they were just in a hurry to close or genuinely didn't hear my order but it was a bummer since it did look great. The vanilla latte, however, was quite good. And for a coffee shop that's most important. And what they lacked in substantial food options they did make up for in fun, seasonal drink specials and a few sweet treats like cookies and the aforementioned shortbread. The space is very cute, as well, and made for a really comfortable meeting location. So overall I did like my visit here. I just won't be rushing back here if I'm feeling peckish. But for a caffeinated pick me up and a nice place to meet or chill, this definitely fits the bill.
