My daughter's dress buying experience was very positive- however, when we purchased the dress we were told alterations would cost between $200 and $300, which seemed reasonable based on the minimal amount of alterations needed for the dress. After multiple appointments over several weeks, alterations ended up being closer to $1,000.00. Absolutely ridiculous, but at that point you have no choice but to pay. We were never rude and had no negative words with Ms. Evelyn. This review is to simply inform future consumers that the alteration costs are significantly more than quoted or expected. Also, Ms. Evelyn, if you are reading this- I hope you realize many ladies these days have tattoos. Everything about our experience at Labella was perfect! As a bride I felt so valued and was treated like royalty from beginning to end. This was my fourth trip to a dress store and Labella truly stood out! You can tell that the owner, Ellalyne, really loves what she does and has a passion for her store and all of the clients who walk into it. Not only was I treated with care, but she also did a quick impromptu dress up with my mom to try to help her find her mother of the bride gown because there was a sliver of time between appointments! I found a dress that would fit my timeline but was too low in the back and too large (hard to tell by how much due to the clipping done for try on). I asked to speak to alterations to see what could be done but was assured it was minor with just a little taking in needed, a matching panel could be added to the deep back to raise it above my waistline, it was "done all the time", very reasonable and given a price on the bustle. Alterations were NOT called up to review the options. All of that was incorrect. It was several sizes too large, the bustle cost was MUCH higher than quoted, the total alterations were MORE than the Maggie Sottero gown I purchased. The total cost was over double what I paid for the dress. In the end, I had a dress that fit. As soon as it was bustled, the buttons and loops started coming off (and I'm a 62-year-old bride so it was not due to wild dance moves). In hindsight, I wish I had insisted on meeting with alterations before purchased. I don't believe I would have made the same decisions if I had been given all of the facts. read more

My initial experience at this boutique was very positive. I live out of state, but I discovered Ellalyn's shop during one of my visits to my parents and immediately fell in love with her dresses. I specifically made a trip to VA a few months later to choose a wedding dress with her since my initial experience had been so wonderful. I found a gorgeous wedding dress during this visit. Ellalyn raved about how beautiful it was and how it was a "one of a kind" gown. When we went pay for it we asked when we could pick up the actual dress, knowing that most stores have to order a dress in the bride's size first. Ellalyn said that no ordering was necessary and that the dress I had tried on was the one we just bought. She rushed us out of the store because she had another customer waiting, and in our excitement about the dress, we thought nothing of it. I tried on the dress when I got home and discovered that this dress was EIGHT sizes too big for me. It was swimming on me. I was shocked. No customer would knowingly walk out of a store with a size 10 wedding dress when they need a size 2. With her years of experience, surely Ellalyn was aware of this. She deliberately did not tell us what size we were buying before paying for the dress. My mother and I were both at the appointment and do not recall her ever mentioning this very important piece of information. We ended up returning to her shop for alterations a few months later, where she tried to charge us over $900! We tried to negotiate and she brought it down to $700, which I still felt was ridiculous for a dress that she knowingly sold to us in the wrong size. I wrote Ellalyn an email explaining how mislead I felt, referencing a page on her website that says they will order a dress as close to the bride's size as possible, how they carry dresses size 0-32, etc. I expressed how disappointed I felt by my experience with her shop and how she was surely aware of the problems that would arise when she sold us this "one of a kind" dress. Instead of responding in a professional manner, Ellalyn lashed out at me over the phone, saying how disrespectful I was being and how she "never forced us to buy this dress." She never apologized and never acknowledge that there might have been any way that she could have dealt with this situation better. In the same phone call she informed me that she magically had a new shipment arrive that just happened to include a size 2 dress that was almost identical to the one I had purchased. How convenient! While this dress did not end up being identical, I did choose to exchange the large dress for this one since it was my size. Ellalyn acted like she was doing us a huge favor in allowing this exchange. After taking it home I discovered that it was so close to my size because it had clearly been altered for someone else - there was tulle sewn in the skirt, tape in the bodice, etc (my mother has seamstress experience so she was able to identify these things). While the dress was in good condition, it was definitely not a brand new gown. Of course this was never mentioned to me by Ellalyn. So not only did she mislead us once, but TWICE. It was unbelievable and genuinely disheartening that someone who claims to be so reputable would treat her customers so poorly. DO NOT GO TO THIS BOUTIQUE. While the experience of trying on dresses was positive and the selection of gowns are beautiful, the aftermath was a nightmare. Ellalyn is not a transparent saleswoman. It was incredibly disappointing and I would suggest avoiding this boutique if at all possible. read more

Went to LaBella Bridal Boutique in search of a Mother of the Bride dress. I had been to many other bridal shops trying to find the perfect dress for my daughter's wedding. When I walked in and Ellalyne was incredibly friendly and attentive. Her assistant Nora was just as good. They made me feel special, the attention and respect they give you is amazing. She was very honest and when she thought something didn't look good she would tell me. When I found my dress,Ellalyne was so awesome in showing me some of the alterations that can be done to the dress. I am overweight and very concious of how I look, don't like my arms and she showed me that the shawl that comes with the dress can actually be used to attach some flutter sleeves to the dress. Bait and switch - rude staff. I went to shop for my mother of the bride dress. Worst experience I've ever had. I found 2 dresses online that I wanted to try on. They didn't have them in stock. The guy (no one else around, glad my sister could help me in the dressing room) showed me a handful of dresses in my size and preferred color that were nothing at all like what I had said I wanted. He was rude and unhelpful and humiliated me. Turns out it's all off the rack. We happened on this shop during the arts and crafts show. My daughter was looking for a homecoming gown. We loved the unique style and were swept away by the ambiance of this hidden gem in Occoquan. The customer service is phenomenal. We received support from the owner and another associate. The fitting rooms are draped with dramatic curtains and the store is the perfect place to live out your formal shopping fantasies. We purchased a beautiful, age appropriate homecoming gown. I found this adorable little boutique on Yelp and decided to look and see if they had any of the designers or dresses I liked, which online it said they did. So I booked an appointment by filling out their online appointment form and someone followed up with me via email saying a meme we would call me tomorrow. And it was pretty quick and easy once they called! They asked for my preferred appointment date, time, budget and my sizing and I was good to go. Welp to my surprise unlike most bridal shops in the area I was never sent an online survey that asked about ya know what I was looking for in a wedding dress so I was a little off put but figured we'd talk about that when I got there. Now for my appointment...there website does give you some helpful information about parking but they don't mention anything about how the changes of you finding parking on the weekend are SLIM to none. My fiancé and I arrived with atleast 10 minutes to figure out where was the place and where to park. Welp what I didnt know about Old Town Occoquan was EVERYONE is there so we circled the little town for a good 20 minutes looking for La Belle's parking lot or any parking spot and couldn't find one. So I result I was late to my appointment. When I finally found a parking spot in front of the townhomes and made it to the boutique I had about an hour left in my appointment so I figured we'd still have some time to find some potential gowns. I arrive and there was one other bride who they said they were finishing up on and would be with me shortly. I found that kindof odd since they knew I was coming yet they weren't ready. I believe he was the manager greeted me and said he thought I wasnt coming and I explained I couldn't find parking. He shared they had a parking lot but it was later found out there was no parking spots open in their lot. As my appointment continued I had to fill out a paper form asking about my wedding date, fiancé, budget, style of dress - but I'm not completely sure if my consultant even looked at it. When I met with my consultant she was upbeat and kind but she seemed to be very short with me. It could have been because I was late or some other reason I don't know of. I shared that I loved all of Maggie Sottero lines and I asked if they had one of my favorite dresses in and she shared they did not but had a couple others but they weren't in my size or my preferred style. So I was a little disappointed but we pushed on. When she found a dress that was my preferred style she had me put on a corset to "give me that snatched" look...I felt it wasn't necessary but she said since I'll be in trumpet style gowns it would slim me and avoid any unwanted bulges. At that point I was ready to go because I am not a very big girl and it made me uncomfortable and self-conscious. I am about 5'3 with a large bust, large thighs, and butt so I don't think they were use to such figured women. After putting on the first gown and sharing with my fiancé how I felt we knew it was time to go and my consultant also said they didn't have many trumpet style dresses in yet but I could come back later when they do. So in all I ended up trying on 2 dresses and that was it. read more

They had a 1:15 pm appointment. This place is phenomenal! The customer service is exceptional. I was very appreciative of the time they took to listen to what my daughter liked and what she wanted. They pulled dresses from their vast inventory and we were able to find a dress. Alondra and Mr. Deem were such a joy to work with. We were the only customers there, the place was clean and very well organized. It is a gem of a store tucked in historical Occoquan, VA. This will be my forever formal store! Embarrassed my Mom, Lied to Me I tried LaBella Bridal on my second visit for a wedding dress, and I didn't dislike my experience. I didn't find a dress I liked, and I didn't fit great in any of them either (they all had to be bunched in the back, and the straps were all the wrong size), so I didn't end up working with them. The woman who worked with us was nice too, even though I wasn't excited about any of the choices she picked out for me (honestly I would have preferred to choose a couple myself first so she could know better what I was looking for). However, because we thought it was a decent enough experience, my mom went back with her sister to try on dresses herself. She was already apprehensive about the dress-shopping experience going into the appointment. The only person there was a man which surprised her - she was uncomfortable with him helping her get dressed/undressed (she was grateful her sister was there). She actually found one she liked (not offered by the man) and she wanted to try that one on, but it wasn't her size or color. She asked to try on a different size and to see other colors, even if just online, and the man helping them said they didn't have her size, it was too small, and that she just had to pick a different dress in her size. That made her so angry and upset. He also said he didn't know how to get an online order started, that whatever she tried on would be the dress she bought. That's when Mom found out that it was an off-the-rack store, which I didn't know at all until yesterday (my appointment was last fall, 2022). They took the tags off so that people couldn't write down the label/designer information so someone could go buy the dress somewhere else (made sense as I was not allowed to take any photos during my dress appointment, and I had no way of getting the designer information if I wanted a dress that day). My mom left the store in tears, and my aunt was angry. I only heard about this experience yesterday, and it infuriated me that my mom left this shop so upset about her experience. My mom and I visited yelp yesterday and found a review from Dec. 2022 (after my dress experience) about a bride who was sold a dress off the rack that was 8 sizes too large (they had altered it in store to fit, but the actual alterations that would have been needed would have cost several more hundred dollars). The dress information and explanation that she was buying that exact dress (not an ordered one in her size) was not disclosed to her prior to her purchase, and she was mislead multiple times during her experience. I felt so angry after reading that plus after hearing about my mom's experience. I looked on the LaBella website to try and find something that says they only sell off-the-rack dresses, and I couldn't find anything. And I'm angry at the fact that my mom was already hesitant to go dress shopping, and that the man there was trying to push her towards dresses that she did not like/did not make her feel comfortable or beautiful. This store was recommended to us by personal friends, and they had great experience which is awesome. But I do not appreciate the lack of information and misleading that both my mom and I experienced. I would absolutely not recommend LaBella Bridal to anybody for wedding dresses or mother of the bride dresses. read more

Sub par customer service. I was contacted about my appointment as I was parking in front of the store (very small spots), I told her that I was outside and on my way in. As I entered, she was on the phone making appointments and I waited about 10 minutes for her to tell me that Ella who would be helping me was not there yet and was at the post office. She starts showing me their bridal area and asks me the same questions we discussed while making the appointment. We also discussed some dresses being pulled based on what I stated I was looking for. When I asked about dresses that were supposedly pulled she told me they couldn't because of all the new dresses they just got in?! Ella finally returns around 1130, sharing with me that she was late because she was with a friend she hadn't seen in a while (not at the post office). She continued to use such generic customer service statements, super disingenuous. I told her what I was looking for (this is now the third time doing so with La Bella) and she pulled dresses with features I said I didn't like, repeatedly! This process is already stressful and this experience was horrendous. I've been to Rosalin's Bridal Boutique and they were 100x better. I do not recommend La Bella to anyone. read more

Fortunately, this was the first bridal shop we visited so we knew what to expect by the time we went to the second shop, which was so different. First impression at Labella carried through the entire time with excitement and enthusiasm for my daughter, the bride. Ellalyne, our consultant, was lovely and took an interest in who we all were and worked hard to accommodate our likes and needs. None of the staff was pushy, only supportive. The shop was elegant and we had the perfect place to sit comfortably and watch my daughter on the platform in front of all the mirrors. They even let us toast her with a bottle of Champagne. I posted this on Google, so I apologize for the copy/paste: If I could, I'd rate Labella with zero stars; I was recently a bridesmaid for a good friend who made the mistake of buying her dress from this store. Any establishment that makes someone feel bad about themselves, on their wedding day no less, does not deserve business. The first thing you need to know is that the dresses are off the rack. Nowhere on their website, nor when talking to any of their "helpful" saleswomen, are you notified of this. I remember my friend specifically asking if the dress she liked came in a different color, and she was told, "we'll look into it!" I'm assuming someone who's not trying to scam their customers would say, "oh no, this dress is sold as-is, it comes in this color because it's the only one we have." At no point during the initial dress consultation was she told the dress she tried on, that didn't fit her, would be the dress she wore down the aisle. Months after she provided her credit card information and the dress was in her name, she was told the dress that she tried on, in the incorrect color and fit, was the dress she will now be wearing on her big day. She was confused, and her confusion was met with hostility and derision. She was informed that they had previously discussed this matter with her, whereas none of her friends nor family remember this little tidbit. No one in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a dress that isn't in the correct color, let alone one that doesn't fit. The owner of this skeevy establishment did nothing but adamantly pronounce that my friend was given this information beforehand, and had the audacity to refer to her as a "big bride". Apparently if you're not a Victoria's Secret model, this woman will dismiss you and write off your concerns (remember, she'd already received payment at this point). No apology, no attempt to make a paying customer feel good about a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. She made it extremely clear that the only thing that fuels her is your money, and she doesn't care whether that is acquired honorably or not. These people are scam artists, and will tell you what you want to hear until they receive your money, and then they'll inform you too late that the ill-fitting dress you purchased is the one you're doomed to wear on your big day. My friend had literally no time to find a new dress, and was forced to wear something that made her feel bad about herself. If you'd like better suggestions for bridal shops in the Northern Virginia area I have so many places on hand that will take care of you better than this horrible "bridal shop". The bottom line is do not waste your time here. You're better off finding a dress off eBay in the wrong fit and color and finding a seamstress than going here. read more

This place is ok. I was in a bind and needed a gown last minute. I think I dealt with the owner (middle age African American lady) she was pleasant and helped me BUT it was weird when I went to pay. The phone rang during the process of ringing me up and instead of letting the other associate answer the phone or ring us out she answered the phone and quit finishing my sale. I was waiting a good ten-fifteen minutes. So I started wondering around the store waiting for her to hang up... I walked to the bridal selection and looking around. The associate came in and warned me it was for appts only.. Not very nice but abrupt. I didnt see any sign and im stuck in limbo on my purchase. Finally she hung up and went back to processing my purchase. I told her my friend has some gowns to consign and that she would be in contact. The owner said with an indignant tone: We are not accepting any consignments so tell your friend to not bother. From the first phone call through the appointment, Ellalyne is warm, welcoming, and fabulous! She selected gowns that were perfect based on our phone call. Brides beware The costumer service provided by the owner is atrocious to say the least. I purchased my dress and veil in July of last year and at my first alterations appointment in May for my September wedding. When i showed for the appointment my veil was not there but i was assured they had it written down and it would be ready to go for pick up. The appointment went well and I scheduled my pick up date for July of this year because I would be stopping on my way from my home in Norfolk to my bachelorette party in Pennsylvania. On my receipt it said "dress to be done for July 14th. Traveling 3 hours". When i arrived to the 1:30 appointment my dress alterations had not even started. The sleeves i was having added on were still being made and the veil was no where to be seen. When i asked how long it would take the alterations lady said "30 minutes" and i said perfect and went to sheetz to grab a snack. When i returned the alterations had still not begun. Throughout the time there I left the shop to make phone calls and get snacks. I had a three hour drive ahead of me and was started to get stressed about making it to town before one my my bridesmaids who was also traveling. I kept asking for updates and watching the alterations lady. I was even asking questions trying to make small talk to be kind because she looked stressed. She got up many times to help others that were coming into the shop. My dress ended up not being complete until 5pm. I was in that shop waiting, stressed and in tears at the end for 4 hours. I told her i could just pick it up on the way back from Pennsylvania if that gave her more time but she kept insisting she was almost done. She had to make my veil from scratch in front of me and even had to redo buttons she sewed on wrong because she was talking to other customers. I ended up missing time with my bridesmaids and family as i did not get home until much later than planned. When my mom called the shop the owner blamed it on me saying "she does her best when brides change their mind" when i literally did not change a single thing. When I arrived to the store for an appt, the store clerk was confused. He looked up to see that I was scheduled and mentioned they attempted calling me, to find out later the number was written incorrectly. Due to this, the consultant scheduled for me walked out and didn't come back. The clerk attempted to assist me in lieu of the consultant, but I wasn't able to find anything that fit my style. Overall, I understand that even though their style doesn't fit me, it will fit others. I went here to buy my wedding dress after stumbling upon the place while stopping in Occoquan during a traffic jam. Ellalyne and Eva were so helpful and friendly and made my friends and I feel very comfortable. They really helped me choose the right one and helped me visualize what I would look like on my wedding day. The owner also noticed a small flaw in my dress that I didn't and said they would fix it without me even asking them to for free. Horrible customer service. Owners says one thing and does another. Orders wrong sizes so they force you to get alterations. Doesn't own up to mistakes. No one knows what's going on whenever we called about dresses. Only reason we got the dresses from here was cause we found out the deposit for the dresses were nonrefundable. Absolutely hands down the worst experience I've had so far during my wedding planning process. My mom, sister & I dealt with a saleswoman who did not seem to care at all about making a sale. She asked me at the beginning of the appointment my name, our wedding colors & theme, and date. Then she continued to ask me these same questions over and over throughout the appointment because she "kept forgetting." After calling me by the wrong name numerous times I corrected her and SHE took offense blaming it on her accent. She made no effort to attempt to pronounce my name correctly. After we had been there 25 minutes 2 sales people came up to us to let us know that we would have to leave as our appointment was over. Uhm, 25 minutes? Seriously? But all of this was nothing compared to how the appointment ended. I was about to give them all of my contact information when suddenly she decided to stop my mother, my sister & I and lecture us about how we are supposed to treat and talk to my mother. My family is extremely sarcastic & opinionated. We joke around -- it's who we are and we know when we've gone to far & when to stop. Her lecture went on for (no joke, not exaggerating) a solid 3-5 minutes. It was EXTREMELY out of line & none of her business. She was supposedly trying to defend my mother, who at the time was not upset, and she ended up making everyone upset. Even if the service had been great I would probably not return because the shop's selection is extremely limited. But needless to say I feel no need to ever return or ever recommend Labella Bridal Boutique to anyone. I feel so sad for the poor brides that might have started their wedding planning experience here and left upset and discouraged like I did. My advice -- STAY AWAY! I bought a dress here at the last minute for a ball that I was participating in. I had looked in a dozen other places and found nothing, and finally, thankfully, happened upon this place. They have a very nice selection of dresses in a wide price range. The lady who runs the place, Ellalyne, is nice and friendly, and was very helpful. She also returned my email very quickly. Great place to find a quality dress at a lower price. But you still get the whole "bridal shop" treatment and feel like a princess! Plus, it's in a cute little shop in beautiful Occoquan. They have one room devoted to wedding dresses and accessories, and another for other formal dresses. There are flower girl dresses, mother of the bride dresses, bridesmaid dresses and general formal or prom dresses. I also consigned a dress here, and the consignment policy is pretty easy, if you have some old dresses you'd like to cash in. It's a 50-50 split plus a $20 consignment fee. The only reason it's 4 stars is that it's kind of a small shop. But like i said, the quality is high and it ended up being better than the bigger stores for me. read more
