After searching for someone to tattoo my wife's hand prints on me and all not wanting to really do detail jut wanting to basically do a splotched hand print. I was referred to Taryn at Lady Luck Tattoos! I wanted as much detail in the prints as possible. I explained my wife had a bb pellet in her palm and she was able to make it stand out get a lot of the line detail in. She did a wonderful job on my wife's prints and so I've had two more tattoos done by her since. Both just as great. All the women I've met in the shop are very nice and sweet. So while I did not get all of my tattoos at Lady Luck, they were all done by the owner Heather. She is awesome. She knows what she is doing. Bring in art work, pick something from one of the many books on site, or ask her to draw something. You know a good artist has standards. heather isn't the type of artist that will tattoo "your mom" on some drunk frat guy's ass. She won't give you your first tat on your neck or hands if you are some 18 year old that hasn't considered what that will mean professionally. She also doesn't charge for touch ups. Those are things to look for in an artist. Now I have not had the pleasure of getting inked by her other artists, but if she hired them, then she trusts them and I would too. I knew I'd be coming to Phoenix for Thanksgiving and wanted to get a tattoo to celebrate my recent divorce. My friend suggested Lady Luck and after visiting their website, I contacted Julie. She was very easy and pleasant to work with over email and lived up to her reputation when I visited. She was able to accommodate my request for Wednesday evening (the day I flew in) and was even able to squeeze in some small pieces for friends. Got my first tattoo with Heather and I couldn't have asked for a better, more professional yet more personal experience!!! From the start, Heather and Marge were BEYOND accommodating, before I even walked into the shop. I wanted to get a 13 on my inner right bicep and it was important for me to get it done on Friday the 13th but I didn't want it to be just something from a pre-selected sheet. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until a few days prior to call, only to find out that the shop was doing a Friday the 13th event and weren't taking any appointments for the day. But when Heather found out how important the piece was to me (13 is my lucky number and the day of the month my daughter was born, so I was going for a trifecta), she went above and beyond to get me in. She even offered to stay late into the evening, after hours, after a full day of work just to make sure I was able to get in. Luckily we didn't have to go that route because I know how it is at the end of your work day. When I'm out, I'm OUT!!! Through numerous texts and phone calls, Heather got me in at 7pm, again, when they WEREN'T taking appointments. I walked into the shop for my appointment and was greeted warmly by the people up front, even some of the waiting customers! Haha The atmosphere was clean without feeling all "clinical" and relaxed without feeling sloppy and lazy. My nerves were put at ease immediately. Heather sat me down and knew exactly what I was aiming for. I was stoked. Sitting in Heather's chair was relaxing and we really had a good conversation about all sorts of things while she worked on me. We laughed, we cried, we had wine and cheese, we sang showtunes... Ok, not really but we definitely laughed. I totally would have wine and cheese with Heather, though. Many people had told me that the area I was getting worked on was one of the more sensitive. Heather's technique was phenomenal and I don't even think you could categorize what I felt as "pain". At one point after she got started I looked over and asked, "Is that it?" She said, "yep," and I said "F*** yeah. GO!" The resulting tattoo is perfect and has inspired more than a few friends, already tattooed and not, to go see her for their own pieces. I will go back to Heather for every future piece and will recommend this shop to anyone I talk to. Thank you, Heather and THANK YOU, LADY LUCK!!! read more

For the past decade, I've wanted a tattoo. The only problem was, everything I thought of, I didn't think I'd want years down the road. I love accessories, but I'm pretty picky about anything permanent. Last year, I finally decided, and had a friend draw up some sketches around my idea. The result was something I couldn't *not* get inked. And when I started asking around, everyone pointed me to Heather at Lady Luck. Heather has a quaint little shop in Braggs Pie Factory. Heather has a pink glittery art piece of a unicorn. I was in love with it. She was in love with my tattoo. It was a match made in heaven. I worked with Heather for about 4 months before the big day. I showed her my sketch. We discussed the procedure and prices. I had the sketch stenciled on me in at least two different places so I could try out places before the day came. I called her. I emailed her. I asked her a million paranoid questions. I was sure she'd be annoyed with me by the time the day came. I went in, and Heather had a TV set up for while I was there and a stand that I could easily set my water and phone on. I brought a few movies of my own and my ipod, but I didn't even use them. We ended up watching one of her movie and laughing and talking about it the whole time. She finished the piece in nearly no time at all, which pretty much takes up the front part of the top of my left arm, but is only in black and white in a little over an hour. And only the bottom of Dot's dress hurt, and even that pain was tolerable. I was surprised. I had completely planned on freaking out and ending up with a toe or something and that's it. Instead, I walked out with the most gorgeous thing I could imagine, an appointment for a tiny touch up a few months later, and great instructions on how to care for it. And still I called a few more times, unsure if what I was experiencing was normal. And no one yelled at me or became annoyed (at least to my face). And the touchup was free. Here I am about 8 months later, with a tattoo that to this day, gets way too much attention. But hey, that's part of the reason you get one right? Everyone loves Dot. And I love telling the story of how quick and painless it was and referring everyone that wants a great inking experience to head to Heather. I'm not sure I could ever pick a better piece than Dot, but if I decide to get a second, this is where I'll head. read more

I got my tattoo done at Lady Luck back at the end of November, and I can't believe I've forgotten to sing their praises until now! My husband surprised me with an appointment for my birthday and they got pretty booked in December, so I had my appointment a couple weeks before my actual birthday. The location is right off the street in Downtown Phoenix right off of the street, so you will most likely park right outside the door. I'm not sure if there was parking at the back of the building. We came at night, so we didn't have to worry about troublesome parallel parking, just pulled right up. As we went in our artist, Heather, was finishing up with a customer right before us. I think we waited about 15-20 minutes. Not a big deal since we brought dinner, and understood that appointment times can be approx. since you never know what could consume your time completing a design. Heather already had my design and ready to sketch onto my body. She was very careful about placement, even had me check in the mirror to make sure that I was comfortable with what was going to be showing. She was so sterile! (in the best way). My husband even commented that it was the cleanest shop he had been into and that she was so clean and careful with all of her instuments/tools. And for our convenience she had places to put your phone and a TV in case you wanted to put in a movie. We didn't need it since the three of us were so chatty. Heather has such a great sense of humor and her conversation definitely distracted me from any pain I was experiencing. My 4x4" tattoo was done in a manner of a simple 45 minutes and the price was lower than we estimated. That's always a great surprise! We were also told that a touch up was free. Heather was fantastic and I will only be getting my tattoos from her, she's never allowed to move! My tat is gorgeous and have gotten several compliments on how precise it looks. read more

I'm somewhere between novice and expert (leaning towards novice) when it comes to body modification. I've done my homework and had my fair share of needles in, on and through my skin. The time came, last year, for me to pursue my first large tattoo job (a beautiful Chinese style tiger). After having a less satisfying experience with my first ink, I was ready to really do the leg work and find both an artist and studio that I _wanted_ to work with. I found three - two in Phoenix and one in Glendale - that seemed to have something in line with what I wanted. The first place I visited was clearly not what I was looking for. The second seemed like it was the one. But then...then...I met Heather and spent a few moments in Lady Luck Tattoo. Let's just say the rest is history. But why here, why Heather you ask? Well, first off, I've never felt so comfortable in a tattoo shop. Honestly, completely, this place is peaceful and cozy. Most places I've visited feel so...cold and abrasive. Not here, not Lady Luck. The decor is eclectic and colorful, the layout and furniture make it feel almost like home. That was a big factor. And each station is setup with a TV for mid-tattoo entertainment (they've got a vast DVD collection to boot). And Heather's demeanor and personality echo those same feelings. She really made me comfortable and at ease - at least between the bouts of needles on my ribs...#$*@!. Now, second (only because I spoke with other artists who had great work), I chose Heather because her work is awesome. I'm so pleased with my tiger. Her style and technique was perfect for my piece. Her portfolio is extensive and diverse, and has decades of experience to boot. I really can't think of a way I could have had a better experience. Not only would I recommend Lady Luck, but I already do to my friends considering tattoos. If nothing else, at least pay them a visit. read more

Overall, this is a super cool tattoo shop, with a great vibe, and great people working there. They really feel like a family and they care about their community and customers. Always super friendly, and each artist shows great work ethic and sincere interest in each other's canvases. Julie was my artist. She was always prepared and on time, and always quick to respond to my messages throughout the process, and I appreciated that. Why 3 stars? I felt at one point that I was getting "milked" during my tattoo process. I went there for a total of 8 sessions or so and some days Julie would work wonders, and other days I felt like she barely did anything, but it always cost me around $300 per visit. It just did not seem consistent. Also, I went in for a cover up, and most of what I had covered up bled through the ink that she put over it. I think she was in a bit over her head, so I chose to find another artist to finish the cover-up, and he did the same amount of work in half the time and half the cost, with much better results. I don't mean to bash Julie, I think she is great, but she should probably stick to the basic tattoos until she gets a bit more seasoned. read more

So upon the recommendation of two of my law school buddies, I went to Marge at Lady Luck Tattoo because I had promised myself another tattoo for graduating law school..... I had finally decided on what I wanted for a tattoo. Having watched Heather in action working on some friends I knew she was the one for me. I contacted her, sent her my idea and when I showed up for the appointment I had options to choose from. Didn't take to long about an hour and a half.
