I have a gluten allergy and always look for places that have gluten free options (a lot of places gluten free options is like....a salad). I got the salmon and dill benedict and the bread was incredible as was the hollandaise sauce. It was a nostalgic trip I haven't taken in a long time. The food was delivered a bit jostled becuase of the Uber Eats biker, but it was incredible. This place has amazing breakfast, so many great options, my friend and I couldn't decide! So we ended up getting the salmon LM bennies and the roast beef LM bennies. Our eggs were perfectly poached and the portions were good, I would have liked a little more salad, with less potatoes, but the food was all very tasty, and the eggs were fresh, and free run. We also got a waffle, and I have never been so impressed with waffles anywhere else on the planet! Crowded inside so we waited ~20 mins for a table for 2. Didn't mind too much there was some standing room indoors but not much. Line formed behind us and some were outside (thankfully it wasn't a bad day out). Great little brunch spot once you get a table, menu is short and simple and most things are either healthy or not healthy but have rich ingredients. The kitchen is open so the smell of the eggs and meats and waffles fills the place up. Service is average, but a little rushed due to so many tables being waited by 4-5 girls. Ordered the strawberry banana bread pudding which was amazing and unique. Syrup complimented it well as well fresh sliced fruits with it. Wanted to try this place forever!! Since when it was on Queen street (it is now on Broadview/Dundas.) I was hoping there wouldn't be a long line up like before when it was on Queen St but I was wrong. There were about 30 people in line when I got their with my husband. It was a Friday afternoon around 12:30. Wait period was 30-40 mins but it did move quicker that I expected. When we sat down we looked at the menu and pretty much ordered right away (we were starving.) I ordered the salmon Benedict and my husband ordered the pulled pork Benedict. They were delicious!! Would have loved to try more dishes but we were very full. Waitress and environment is very nice and friendly. They make you feel like they've known you forever. Can't wait to go back! We had an awesome brunch here last Saturday. I generally don't support lining up for brunch but in this case it was worth it. I had the spinach and cheddar waffles which included 3 medium-sized waffles, a salad, a huge amount of bacon, and roasted tomatoes. Great combination of flavours. (The dish would have been PERFECT with a little less cream sauce on the waffles, but next time I'll just ask for it on the side.) My friends had the huevos migas and liked their meals, as well. I ordered a side of poached eggs, they were good but totally unnecessary since my main meal was so large. Service was friendly and reasonably quick considering the restaurant was 100% full. I ordered the Moroccan Scramble. It was unique and delicious especially with the olives. All the dishes are large portions and mine came with 2 slices of toast, black beans and a salad. Also great to see a healthy option like this on the menu. My fellow foodie got the crepe croque monsieur which he enjoyed. I also ordered the fresh juice special which was great. With so many friends telling me about this yummy brunch spot, I was so darn happy to finally get to go and try it out with my bf this past Monday! We were first shocked with the busy line up of how packed it was for a Monday as we arrived a little before noon. The downside of this brunch spot is that it dosen't take reservations as it's a pretty small spot so the line up can be killer, but lucky for us we were able to get seated after about a 10min wait; but I have to mention, the line did not die down and it only got longer after my bf and I left. This brunch was wonderful! Absolutely no complaints! I went on a Saturday and got there around 11:15. We were seated at around 11:45 so we ended up waiting around 30 minutes. The wait is on a narrow staircase that is a bit steep. It went by pretty quick and wasn't too uncomfortable. Once you get inside you know that it's worth the wait! The atmosphere is beautiful. It's all natural light with plants. It's not a huge space but all the windows and the openness makes it seems a lot bigger. Granted I haven't been to every single brunch spot in Toronto, this would have to be my favourite for food, the service was good, not mind blowingly amazing but definitely good enough especially given the fact that the line up outside since we came on what I would imagine is the busiest day...Sunday. I'm OK lining up for food especially for one that is this good. And even if the line was a horrible experience, that's in no way a reflection of Lady Marmalade. We did have a lady pull over in a truck and shout at the line in general about what was going on, when she heard it was a restaurant she just drove away looking very puzzled. So I guess not everyone has heard about the lady yet.....(I don't know if anyone refers to this place as "the lady" but I just did). While in line, I took to yelp to see if it could help sway me with deciding what to get since most of the menu stood out to me as "oo I want that one!" after browsing for a few I decided to go for the much raved about eggs benedict with avocado and brie. Ended up being a great choice so thank you yelp for yet another fantastic reco! The food was just great, the eggs were perfectly runny and everything was just great. My brunch date got the huevos rancheritos, I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food so in my mind I chose the better dish, but she still loved her selection. I got black coffee, that got refilled once (which was enough) and she had a delicious OJ with what tasted like lime in there too? Overall, this place is definitely worth a wait...we were in line for around 40 - 50 minutes I think. Hullo, this is an "updated" review concerning their relocated Broadview location, divided into two parts: dine in (circa early 2019) and take-out (2020 COVID-19 era). The move at the end of 2018 from Queen St to a quiet stretch of Broadview Ave is a shock as much as it is a striking contrast of ambience. Gone is the fun mishmash of vintage tables and chairs and country kitchen atmosphere; they must have sunk an awful lot of money hiring a Halifax architect and modifying a 3-storey semi-detached building into a 2-storey experience--in comes this sharply designed light Baltic birch-clad interior which I honestly find very sterile--albeit airy. It doesn't have the same personality as the old place, yet it still remains an east-end Toronto tourist attraction. Still serving the same city brunch favourites though, and still attracting the same hype and infamous lineups to get inside (it stretches up the stairs inside and often spills over around the street corner). The lack of management and consideration queuing diners show by constantly blocking the sidewalk is ridiculous. (How bloody hard is it to line up single file?) That there is even still a line and in this part of the city is enough to make me feel a bit NIMBY. Much consideration for neighbours putting up with this sudden arrival of gentrifying outsiders could be shown by adopting a reservation system or at least taking phone numbers of would-be diners to page them when a table is ready. (Playing "devil's advocate," one could argue that people will line up anyways because there really isn't much else to do in the area while you wait. People in Toronto can be weird that way. The Marm is still a destination restaurant, not a neighbourhood diner.) Anyways living not too far from this location (you jealous?) and with a biological clocked messed up by a construction career such that waking up at a beastly early morning isn't an issue, the only way I ever would dine inside is if I am one of the first patrons of the day, to hell with lining up. And when you do score a table, you may find the service quite personable. We sat at the spacious upstairs, our server chatted us up on a few things including the luxury of living close by and being able to beat the queue that way. It was pleasant I must say. But then comes 2020 and COVID-19 is super effective at killing said infamous lineups--and bringing the Portlandia brunch village episode queue experience to many other aspects of daily life and commerce, such that even buying groceries (or for that matter, coronavirus testing) feels like lining up for Lady Marmalade (with the requisite 6'/2m physical distance). Meanwhile like many dine-in restaurants the Marm has switched to a takeout-only model to get by. (It's still takeout despite stage 3 in effect.) 99% of their menu is available, if you call it in, it's relatively fast about 15-20 mins until ready for pickup, and it's not an issue if you want to add other things like a coffee or beer to the order when you show up. Smoother than motor oil service in these tough times. The Baja rice bowl is my favourite and I probably went through a week of it during my work-from-home period, and their house made habanero hot sauce is amazing to add to anything. read more

This is really one of my favourite brunch places. It has consistent food with simple/fresh ingredients. It's not the most inventive - it just does basic brunch extremely well. If you go on a weekend, you will be waiting at least 45 minutes if you arrive after 10am. Meanwhile, surprisingly even on weekdays, I had to wait for 30 minute on a Friday at noon. The menu is simple with great sandwiches - but really the top pick is usually their Egg Benny's where they have 5 choices. I've attached my pulled pork Benny as a pic, which is my favourite. Nice barbecue sauce with a light kick on the pulled pork - yolk of the Benny's is always perfectly runny. The potatoes are well-seasoned. The Asian-inspired soy dressing on the salad is so wonderful that they're selling the dressing to take home if you're interested. The only thing about the restaurant is that even though they do brunch super well. It is still just brunch food. I'm not sure if the food justifies a bill of over $20 after tax and tips. However, the dish that I always order when I go to Lady Marmalade is the Brown Rice Bowl, "Baja Style" topped with black beans, aged white cheddar, pico de gallo salsa, avocado, sour cream, scallions, & cilantro. Inevitably, someone orders the Baja bowl when we go. Sometimes more than one someone. A really wonderful mix of texture and taste. For me, it's the cilantro that makes this dish, so don't push it off to the side. A great filling meal that just happens to also be vegetarian. The Real Club Sandwich consists of bacon, chicken, avocado, tomato, red onions, & chipotle mayo. Really quite tasty. Good mix of flavours and a tasty hit from the mayo. Sometimes, I split a sandwich and the Baja bowl with someone. That way I can have both. Instead of telling the extra people to join the wait list, restaurant choose to give them the tables that should belong to the few group that are next in the wait list.
