Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Lady Yum. So as much as I travel, what better way to spend time at Sea-Tac than by enjoying some delicious and fresh macarons? I quickly snagged 18 for a spendy total (but if u knew the preciseness that's goes into these decadent fluffs of almond & cream- it's worth the price! Also I found these quite unique- in that they were bigger & fluffier & more cream filled than traditional macaroons.i personally prefer the smaller, more delicate balanced ones I've found elsewhere- but I'd definitely buy these in town when at the airport. The rough analogy I can make is it's like comparing Oreos with double stuff Oreos- they are just different. Not better or worse to most probably- just different. "Yeah ok, but they are macaroons, how good can they be?" This is what I thought when I passed this place the first, second, and third time I went to SeaTac airport. "Fine," I thought, "I will check Yelp and see what it says." Hmm 4.5 ok...let's give it a try. I got a box of 10 and I started to eat the salted caramel one. What I experienced was something on the edge of Nirvana...slightly crunchy with a chewy center and a fantastic ratio of caramel to salt with the caramel far ahead in the ratio, so it's like you only occasionally bump into the salt as it passes by on its way to accentuate the sweet. Honestly I am glad I was sitting down and no one was around me because I actually said "sweet merciful Jesus" and had I been walking I would have come to a complete stop. And now here I sit- I am at my gate and I have an hour before I board. An hour to contemplate if I should have another one or....or perhaps I should eat another one in a place where I can give this macaroons my full attention. Like maybe in a room by myself with my phone off so I can limit the interruptions and really drill down on the flavors that explode from Lady Yum's macaroons....I'm not sure- don't judge me. The flavors I chose were s'mores, lemon, mint chocolate, lemon, wild strawberry, salted caramel, shindig, circus animal, magic cookie, and espresso fudge. After trying these macarons tonight, I have to say that it was the best decision I ever made. They were absolutely delicious. The macarons were extremely soft and made to perfection. They were worth every bite. Even my boyfriend enjoyed the macarons. My favorites would have to be the shindig (that has fruity pebbles in it), s'mores, and mint chocolate. My boyfriend loved the lemon and circus animal. I wish there was a Lady Yum in LV. But then again, it would be dangerous if there was one near me. The only downfall to these delicious treats, is that I didn't discover them until I was on my way out of Seattle and not in. If I had, I would have bought more than a dozen that's for sure! These little gems are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just like they should be. Creative fun flavors that were all amazing.
