This is a true hidden gem on the island. Quiet, relaxed outdoor atmosphere on the golf course, the food is excellent, we have gotten several different things and they all were fantastic. We always get the salmon and collard greens. Dessert made in house. So good! Ricky is the best!!

Ask the Community - LagerHead Tavern

Can you go without living in HHP?

Yes - make a reservation, and when you get to the guard at the gate, tell them you're going to the LagerHead Tavern, and they give you a guest pass and let you in :)

Is it weird to go eat here if you're not golfing?

No, it's not weird to go here if you're not golfing. It is a popular place for Hilton Head Plantation residents.

Starting with the burger, I like when a smash burger is ACTUALLY a smash burger. They include cheese and pickles on it and it was just the perfect burger. I think it's pretty high on my burger rankings. Might even beat Heavy's! I feel like it's rare to get waffle fries unless you're going to Chick Fil A, so it was nice to have them with our burger. We got a bag to share and there was plenty. They were salted and seasoned to perfection and perfectly crispy. We sat outside where they have a full bar, a TV for sports, and they had live music.

This is genuinely one of the best burgers around. The waffle fries deserve a special mention: fresh, nicely done, and you get a generous portion. Think Chick-fil-A fries, but the way they should be. The Truffle Fries are solid too -- just a bit rich for my taste, but that's purely personal preference. I also tried the Sweet & Spicy Chicken -- good and flavorful, though slightly heavy on the batter for me. Still worth a try. A Couple of Suggestions: A lower-carb side option would be a welcome addition -- I asked and it was a hard no. Hopefully Tin and Tallow considers adding some healthier alternatives down the road. Breakfast -- Proceed with Caution: The croissant with egg and cheese was, unfortunately, a miss for me. The egg and cheese were fine, but buttering an already butter-heavy croissant and griddling it turned it into a flat, gooey mess. I hear there's a biscuit option, which might be better -- but personally, I'd love to see an English muffin or bagel on the menu. Something with a little more structure would go a long way. Bottom Line: Come for the burgers and fries -- you won't be disappointed. Just maybe skip the croissant breakfast for now.

We were lucky to get seated outside because the live music and views were immaculate. The oysters were super fresh.. so fresh in fact we found a little crab in one of them. We got it replaced promptly by our friendly waiter for a new one! I got the scallop risotto. It was good but not my favorite. The sauce was creamy but somewhat bland, which allowed for the perfectly cooked scallops to shine. My mom got the seafood pasta which was fantastic and flavorful. The high-tops outside are great because they're completely covered, while the tables with umbrellas still get sun depending on where the sun is. They have several powerful fans outdoors plus the seating is comfortable with a great view of the trees, boat, and water. The crab punch cocktail was good, but the crab coconut rum tasted a little odd to me (their exclusive brand). I preferred the salty Chihuahua cocktail. All drinks are thankfully strong (everywhere else on the island they were weak). The Jalapeño hush puppies seem like they are made in-house, and they're very flavorful & crunchy. The hush puppies came with honey butter which was also amazing. The lunch grilled grouper fish taco was delicious & fresh. The salsa on it was very flavorful! The house-made potato chips are also great. Service was great (not rushed). They do need drink coasters (water was all over the table). We came back for dinner. They had live music. Abby& Taylor were the two different servers we had and they were both amazing. They did not rush us. The fried green tomatoes were very good with lots of pimento cheese and crunchy unlike the ones we had at Old Oyster Factory. The pineapple Mojito was good. Overall great experience!

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

Sunset Grille is truly a second story restaurant located on the water and off the beaten path( located in an RV park ) Our table was next to the windows where we could appreciate the fantastic view of the wildlife and also some amazing boats. The crowd in the room was mature , no children, and at best was 24 people - Sunset Grille is truly and intimate place For appetizers we shared the baked feta Hot baked feta w/herbs, grape tomatoes & olive oil. Served with toast points and water crackers this was a tasty bite. The second appetizer was a cup of mussel bisque! I've had plenty of bisque thru the years but never mussels.. DELICIOUS! Creamy, salty, potatoes, plenty of mussels and a nice hit of sherry the bisque was so good my wife stated if we lived close i"d take a bucket of this home! Entrees, my wife has the Seafood Cakes - Two delicious cakes filled w/ shrimp, crab & today's fresh catch w/ Lemon caper cream sauce, rice & vegetables. The cakes were a huge portion with quality ingredients. I had the Crispy Pork Belly, FANTASTIC! Crispy pork belly sweet potato hash w/ house made sausage, poblanos, onions & Sirache honey. I've had pork belly but never a portion as large as this - Two pieces , excellent quality, taste and Accoutrements . The pork belly won't leave you hungry and yes I ate the FULL PORTION.
