I had an amazing meal here! The Al pastor tacos were a great bite. The Santa Fe burrito was equally impressive. The chicken and steak were just delicious! The flight of margaritas was a great way to try a few flavors! The dragonberry was my favorite. The waiter was really nice and gave great recommendations of his favorite dishes. Everyone enjoyed their food here and overall, I was surprised at how much I liked this spot in Canandaigua. I had the Chile relleno. It came out soupy because the cheese leaked out into the beans which I've never experienced before but the cheese and beans were really good so no complaints there. It was really hard to eat with a fork though. The skin on the poblano was too tough. The vegetables enchiladas were also apparently good but the tortilla was a bit hard and there wasn't any sauce on top so it was different from a normal enchilada. The grilled chicken dish was also quite good. The chicken was Smokey and cooked well. Everyone enjoyed the rest of their food and it was portioned good and not too much. Excellent spot for taco Tuesday! We have visited several times over the years and been satisfied every time. I love having fresh chips and salsa delivered to the table upon arriving. My husband and I each got our own personal salsa bowl which was great because I like to add plenty of extra spicy sauce and he enjoys chipotle seasonings. The drinks are refreshing and full of flavor. I really enjoy the Jalapeño Fresh Margarita and this time I tried a Vallarta Margarita which was quite sweet. The AL PASTOR STREET TACOS were a perfect portion for me. The edible taco shell bowl for the refined beans is a nice touch. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the mole sauce on the ENCHILADAS. We love tacos, so we thought we would give Laguna grande a try... It was an odd experience. The restaurant seem to be staffed only by high school aged kids weren't exactly sure what they were doing. There was a wait for a table so we asked if we could get a drink at the bar while we waited and they seemed unsure of how we could do that and then go sit at a table. In the end we opted just to eat our meal at the bar. We each ordered tacos. My partners came on the smallest corn tortillas I've ever seen. The flavors were decent, but not much filling. Located near CMAC there is plenty of parking. They also have an outdoor patio for dining. They offer plenty of seafood, chicken and steak options. The prices are very reasonable. Been here multiple times.... unfortunately tonight we went in and my boyfriend ordered a burrito and bit down on a chicken bone and nearly choked. Our waitress was very kind and brought it to the attention of the kitchen.... we had to ask to have it taken off of our bill or at least half taken off as that was where he found it in his food and has eaten about that much. The manager told our waitress they could only take off a potion (35%) because my boyfriend had eaten "a little more than half".... Bottom line is.... sometimes people mess up but the terrible service and lack of accountability by management will be the reason we won't return. read more

Food lacks flavor, chips and salsa are extremely bland. This is definitely a budget Mexican place based off the menu prices, but it's not even worth it for the price. I ended up finding a chicken bone in the center of my santa fe burrito that i had ordered. once the waitress came back i asked if should could have the manager comp half of price on the burrito (me being generous/understanding) the manger comped the price of the burrito only 35%, because i "ate a little bit more than half". i will not be returning to laguna grande because of this. read more

Laguna Grande is very good. It's different from Rio in that it's a little more affordable and focuses more on the traditional dishes you might expect at a Mexican restaurant. I like that the menu has options for everyone, and the staff have always been very personable and kind, even when we do a takeout order. We love having this restaurant nearby! read more

Man, I really wanted to like this place. The location is great, and I'm sure really great in the summer. Someone put a lot of love into the interior; not sure how much may have came with the place but regardless it looks nice inside. But unfortunately my partner and I both found ourselves not feeling well following our meal. The salsa was the best part of the meal. The food wasn't fresh by any means and lacked flavor as well. The drinks (margarita) were incredibly expensive and definitely was a cheap bar mix from a large bottle; it tasted like a glass of cleaning solution. The unsweetened iced tea was absolutely awful, literally every component of the meal was disappointing. I really hate giving one star reviews, so this one gets two; one for the service and one for the interior, but honestly the way we felt following our meal would lead me to not recommend this restaurant. read more

We ate here for the first time last Saturday. We were looking for something we haven't tried yet in the Canandaigua area after going to the Gem show at the Canandaigua Civic Center. We were seated quickly, and our waitress took our drink orders as soon as we were seated. We were given complimentary warm, fresh tortilla chips and fresh salsa to snack on while we waited to order. Our drinks were brought to us, I had a Jalapeno Margarita, which had Tajin around the edge of the glass, and the other two guests at the table had a Coronarita (a margarita with a miniature corona in it), and a regular small margarita on the rocks. Our food came very quickly after we ordered, and was hot and fresh. Everything was delicious! Just the right amount of seasoning on everything. The Shredded Beef in the Chimichanga was rich, tender and well seasoned, almost like a good pot roast! The portion sizes were just right as well. The only (minor) issue was that the rice was just a bit overcooked, but still tasted great. Also, our server was wonderful! She was very attentive, and didn't miss a beat! We stopped in for a light lunch after a nice walk along the lakefront in Kershaw Park and the Canandaigua City Pier and we're very happy that we did. We were seated on the small patio and, aside from the occasional motorcycle, it was very pleasant. The salads were fresh and flavorful... Would definitely order one again. The house made salsa was good but had no heat at all and the selection of hot sauces was, quite frankly, disappointing. I did eye some dishes at other tables, such as a giant burrito, that looked fantastic. This place recently opened. They are busy and the food is good. However they still seem to be working on timing. While our dinner didn't take long one item we ordered was forgotten. By the end of dinner I also had forgotten. I was disappointed when I realized it on the drive home. There was a table of 5 that arrived and ordered before us. They didn't get their meal until we were leaving. Needless to say they weren't happy about the service. Our food was very good. I had the veggie fajitas. I appreciated that the veggies weren't swimming in oil. Veggies included summer squash, zucchini, onion, broccoli, red and green peppers. A side plate holds black beans, white rice with yellow corn, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and 3 homemade tortillas. The tortillas are soft and warm. My mother ordered the steak fajita which she enjoyed. Though she wish the steak wasn't so well done. She prefers rare/medium rare steak. The steak fajitas come with refried beans and Spanish rice. This is a tucked away place in Canadaguia. I would say use GPS. This spot has been many different names as owners. This was our first visit and I would have to say very tasty for the most part. I did not care for the salsa. I think it needed cerantro. The cheese did was apale ant tasty. Yes in the end I could taste Velveeta cheese but still very yummy. I am a Velveeta fan. Chips were fresh, service was spot on. I ordered a frozen margarita and it had a kick of alcohol, but I think it could use more lime or flavoring. It was nice and cold but not like the frozen ones I get at my normal spot. It did not have that frozen smooth ice slushy texture I am use too. Food had a nice flavor. Waited for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged we were standing waiting to get a table. They were busy however several tables were empty and clean and several staff we're having conversations with the same people at the same time. When we addressed one they only said we only have one person who seats parties (2 of us). When we finally got seated we were greeted by a wonderful young man who did a great job. I want to enjoy eating something and everything was not flavorful . The only thing I thought was fine was the rice. I love Mexican food, and I wanted it to like this place, I really did. I stopped in on a recent Monday night with my mother and nephew for dinner to find the place not very busy at all. We were seated immediately and I will say our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The place was clean and the atmosphere was decent enough. But the most vital part of the equation (the food) just wasn't there. I got the enchiladas rancheras. The first thing I noticed was the soggy iceberg lettuce on top. Not overly appetizing. Then I took a bite. The ranchera sauce had way too much cinnamon. The refried beans tasted FOUL, like they had actually gone rotten. My nephew agreed his beans tasted the same way. The shredded chicken was dry as bones. The best enchilada was the cheese one... That one at least tasted all right. And my jalapeno margarita was decent. Overall, not at all impressed. Everything seemed to be there, except the food. Unfortunately, that's the deal breaker. Cannot recommend. read more

Overall this was a 5 star experience. And here's why, 1) first and foremost the service that was provided was top notch, I'm not sure if that's the endless complimentary chips and salsa talking or Eric our server doing a great job or a combo of both. 2) the food: The fajitas tasted so fresh and delicious. Along with the other dishes we ordered, all the food was great, the small negative was my tacos shell was soggy but I'll let it slide because it still tasted great. 3) Alcohol, margaritas are a staple for Mexican restaurants and this one did not disappoint. The jalapeño one I had was a spicy delicious glass of heaven, the regular one was solid as well, very nice selection of drinks as well as looks like a large bar area. Girlfriend and I come here quite often and as usual we had a wonderful meal . Was a busier night than usual and they seemed very understaffed but still delivered! 10/10 definitely reccomend. Only complaint was with another couple, who felt that their side of sourcream taking a few minutes with 3 overworked servers literally running to keep up (and crushing it), entitled them to spend the rest of the evening complaining about how they will never come back, and demand their half eaten meals be free.
