Girlfriend and I come here quite often and as usual we had a wonderful meal . Was a busier night than usual and they seemed very understaffed but still delivered! 10/10 definitely reccomend. Only complaint was with another couple, who felt that their side of sourcream taking a few minutes with 3 overworked servers literally running to keep up (and crushing it), entitled them to spend the rest of the evening complaining about how they will never come back, and demand their half eaten meals be free. I recently came to Laguna Grande for lunch with some friends with high expectations and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint. The service was phenomenal and the staff was very pleasurable. I always forget to post a review while I am here, but this place has great food and drinks! We've for real been there about 10 times since they opened a couple months ago, and every time has been great! Ive tried the posole, al pastor tacos, enchiladas, chimichanga, flautas, and more! Victor, the bartender, is also our favorite and he gives great service! We actually prefer to sit at the bar when we go for dinner! Many restaurants have opened and closed at this location, but this place is always packed, and I hope it sticks around! Best Mexican food in canandaigua by far! read more

First let me say that the food here is fantastic. We both enjoyed Margaritas and chips while waiting for our meals. My wife enjoyed a Taco Salad while I ordered the Santa Fe Burrito. Both meals were served timely and hot. The Burrito had both chicken and steak in the serving. The food was great The portions were generous. We will definitely go back. Accidents happen. While being served the Burrito, the server had a cloth napkin to protect his hand against the hot plate. As he served the meal, the napkin dipped into the Burrito topping. As he pulled his hand and napkin away from the plate, I received a serving of the sauce across my light colored shirt and shorts. Calling the server over he saw the damage and apologized at least two times. I'm grateful that the meal was good as it helped with the discomfort of the splatter across my cloths. I didn't expect much from the waiter and really we didn't get anything. Our afternoon was now done. We planned several more stops while in Canandaigua. The server bought out a serving of dessert for us for my discomfort. As I mention, I didn't expect much but he could have at least knocked a drink or the meal off the bill. Stopped by with my wife for a date. Ordered the lunch shredded beef Chimichanga. We were brought the dinner meal with ground beef instead of shredded. Told the waiter this is not what we ordered. He talked to the manager and returned to say there was nothing wrong with the food and he would not correct the order. Talked to the manager who was extremely rude. Said I had to pay for what I got. So as to not cause a scene in from of my wife I paid the bill but left without eating a bit. Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Rude and ungrateful staff and management. Food wasn't great, salsa tasted like pizza sauce and carnitas was really dry/ basically all fat. Kinda just tastes like store bought/ frozen stuff . Smelled kinda musty in the restaurant and the ceiling had a whole in it. Our server was eating at the bar while we were waiting for our food and when we received the food, the plates were extremely hot but the food was cold. Holy Queso. I write this review for those who love authentic Mexican food. (If you love tomatoe sauce and velveta cheese poured on top of a flour tortilla filled with steak and onions and bell peppers- I'm not talking to you. Eat here, this is your spot.) I was born and raised in Arizona, I was excited when reading the menu of this new place. I can't tell how long I've wanted to eat legit tacos Al Pastor here in Upstate NY. I ordered: Street Tacos Al Pastor (they asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas... btw there is only one answer) Steak and cheese burrito Chicken Quesadillas Fajitas Nachos I was disappointed. Growing up in AZ, traveling often to northern and Baja Mexico, I had never heard or seen everything smothered in what middle America calls "Queso". The quesadillas were filled with it, the nacho were soggy and covered in it. The burrito was covered and filled with it. Not a fan. The salsa was straight tomato sauce with some spices added. If that's the salsa, the rest of the food is going to suffer. Because the same philosophy of flavor was added to every dish. In case you're wondering there was no cilantro. How do you not have cilantro? The chips were thick, dark, and burnt. Tasted like they were baked vs fried. But this didn't bother me as much as the Marinara like salsa I had dipped them in. Anyhow. Not trying to throw crazy shade at a new restaurant during a pandemic. But I know if I had seen reviews like this it would saved me $60. Godspeed read more

Was here for lunch last week on New Years Eve, forgot to post.. Let me start off that the dining area was full to capacity.. Ok.. We didn't mind sitting at the bar.. I tend to forget that you have to order food before you can get your drinks, as I haven't dined out much since covid hit us.. Menus open typically means the server won't come back, oops our bad.. Anyway, let me get to the food and drink.. Tortillas and salsa, left something to be desired, but I've had worse.. My cousin and I ordered the cucumber margarita, sounds weird I know, but it was awesome!! Next the food, all three of us ordered the Grande Combo.. OMG!! So much food, but the menu does warn ya.. There wasn't a thing on the plate that I didn't like! Sauces on all were great, the rice was spot on, even better than a lot of the Mexican restaurants I go to and I go to a lot.. Now, let me just tell you, I am not a huge fan of refried beans, but I always try them.. Holy Jesus their's are awesome, I ate them all and wanted more, even though I had a takeout box.. The only downfall is that the service was a bit lacking.. That said the bartender was also serving, and we do have covid roaming around, so I guess that doesn't help.. All in all a great experience and next time I'm in Canandaigua I'll def hit this place up.. read more

We wanted to explore a new restaurant for the evening. Being newer to Canandaigua we were really excited. When we got to the restaurant the hostess was not at the door and we had at least three couples waiting ahead of us to get on the list for a table. After getting on the list for a table for 2 we had a group of three come in after us and they went right in and sat at the bar. We were not told by the hostess that we could do so. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender was wonderful. This was the highlight of our night because unfortunately the rest of the evening was bad. We ordered drinks to celebrate that evening and they were great. We then ordered dinner and I had eaten so many chips waiting the hour plus for my food with no exaggeration that I was not really hungry anymore. We got the food and I ordered a chicken, shrimp, and steak fajita meal with rice on the side. The rice had numerous pieces of hard rice mixed in with overcooked rice. The three flower tortillas were hard on the outer edge and the middle was warm (that was positive). My wife got a taco salad which is pretty hard to screw up but 3/4 of that went home as well. The bartender I give a lot of props to because she had a groups of angry patrons that she was trying to manage but were all waiting for food from the kitchen which was beyond her control. End result is we will no be visiting again which is a bummer because we enjoy new experiences but this was beyond poor food service wise and meal wise. At the end of this we decided this was probably the worse experience we have had ever going out. I feel bad because we wanted to enjoy! read more

We went to Laguna Grande for the first time a week or so ago. The food was GREAT. I had the Chicken and Beef Flautas and my husband had the Chile Colorado. We were so pleased! We really want to call out, however, how awesome our server was. Eric (hope this is spelled correctly) was EXCELLENT. He was a natural! Friendly, attentive without hovering, knowledgeable, and really just such a great representative for Laguna Grande. The restaurant also appeared to be clean - so important! We will ABSOLUTELY be back. I can't wait! The menu had so many tasty-sounding dishes. I had a hard time picking my dinner. Prices were reasonable / as I would expect. This place is incredible. Classic margarita on the rocks jumbo is amazing. Free chips and salsa. Traditional street Tacos (came with 4), steak and cheese burrito, and a fajita quesadilla were all AMAZING. Run to this place. We came at 515pm on a Wednesday night and it was packed, but we were able to sit outside and enjoy our amazing meals. Check this place out and enjoy. Very very good! read more

Went last night was a busy night. My food was amazing and the service was great! There were 3 waitresses who were busting their butts to make sure everyone was happy. There was a couple near us that were disrespectful and rude to the waitresses. They ate half there food then said they didn't like it and tried to get it taken off. Felt so bad we tipped the waitress over 50% of our bill to help. read more

This place is pretty great... The food is excellent, while still having the large portion sizes and cheap cost that you would expect at a Mexican place. My only gripe is that the service wasn't good; they took our order, brought the food out, then we didn't see them again until they brought our check (which we had to ask for 10 minutes after we were done eating.) I understand that they're super busy, but it'd be nice if they came by once or twice to fill up our drinks at least. I'm still giving 5 stars though, as the food made up for the lack of service. read more

I never post a bad review, but I was upset by the lack of social distancing, every booth was full, the owner was wearing a mask only over his mouth and was very rude to my friends and I over splitting the check, he yelled at us and made my friend with me cry (she is pregnant) I will not be going back. No no no. Will definitely not go back. First I ordered table side guacamole. When I think of table side guacamole I think of fresh avocados with onions and cilantro made by the side of your table from a cart full of ingredients but what I got was a big bowl of, what tasted like, pre packaged guacamole and a bowl of pico de gallo. The waiter did not seem to understand my confusion but it was inedible and strange. The fajitas were bland and the little crunchy cup the refried beans came in tasted burnt. Well that was disappointing. The wait and giving my phone number that they never called. Not allowing us to sit at the bar and wait in case someone wanted to eat there (plenty of seating open). At least 45 minutes for our meal arrive and both were wrong. My wife ate alone because they had to totally redo hers. The salsa is watery ketchup. The shredded beef in my chimichanga couldn't have been more bland. The margarita was good. Word to the wise - keep driving. read more

Enjoyed a lunch with family at this recently opened fine establishment with this past week. The place has a very nice ambience and character. We were graciously greeted and seated quickly. We were immediately served tortilla chips, salsa and queso dip (optional). I ordered off the lunch menu two quesadillas with shrimp ( not currently found on menu but ask for it) which were delicious along with the rice and refried beans ( a la carte add ons). Others ordered a lunch combination beef taco with a burrito and steak fajita plate. All orders done to perfection. Our young waitress (Caeley) was very sweet, overly accommodating yet still learning the fine art of professional service. She was patient with us, and likewise we were with her, understanding management has obviously not properly trained her, or perhaps, they are new to the restaurant business and learning the the proper customer protocols themselves. I'm sure it is all a work in progress. I'd rather focus on the positives which definitely outweighed the minor growing pain negatives. I was impressed that the manager/owner came over to the table and likewise concerned how we liked our meal/service and how they could improve. He asked if I thought the price for my meal was too high considering I created my own custom meal. I told him it was fairly priced as were the margaritas and wine;) Overall, I highly recommend you give them a try for a delicious assortment of Tex-Mex cuisine, reasonably priced with a nice presentation delivered to our roomy booth all in a smartly decorated and comfortable upscale establishment. My wife and I ate at this restaurant on 9-3-2022. My review is that the food is just ok. Waitress was nice and friendly, ordered two Margaritas which we thought were exceptionally good. The chips and salsa were not...the chips were stale and the salsa was just ok...no heat at all. I had Carne Asada; the meat was very tender, however they came with a very small portions of refried beans inside a fired corn tortilla bowl (maybe a 2Tbs) and Spanish rice, the pico-de gallo was not good...too watered down and as for the tortillas they were thin and chewy. My wife had Chili Colorado; the meat was tender but small pieces and as for its gravy, it was very runny. Her sides were the same as mine and in the same amounts. We noticed that this restaurant was a finalist for the best Mexican food in the Finger Lake region...I don't see it. I have made a lot of Mexican food in my life and this was just not good! read more

I came here because I heard rave reviews about how authentic the food was. I actually don't care how authentic the food is as long as it's good. Laguna Grande was pretty average, and definitely not authentic. I have eaten here twice now. I'm not sure why all the Mexican places in NY smother their food in queso, but it's not authentic nor is it good. Also, the salsa tastes like tomato sauce from an Italian restaurant. Strawberry mojito was good. Ordered the traditional burrito. Very tasty but cold! It was a busy night so didn't want to stress the kitchen and send it back. I'll take it home and warm it up.
