For a public golf course, this course met expectations in most respects. The conditions were reasonably good, and it's a very scenic layout with beautiful canyon views in every direction. The staff was also extremely friendly, from the guys in the pro shop to the cart girl. Unfortunately, pace of play was a major problem, and it's the reason I probably won't return. We spent the entire front nine behind a foursome that made us wait on virtually every shot, despite having no one in front of them. There was absolutely no effort to keep pace. They stood over and analyzed every putt like the U.S. Open was on the line. Thankfully, they left after nine holes. We made the turn and the course was wide open. Great! Or so we thought. Several holes later, we caught another group and experienced exactly the same thing for the remainder of the round. Slow golfers are going to happen. The bigger issue is when a course does nothing about it. Someone needs to monitor pace of play and encourage groups that have fallen well behind to pick it up or allow faster groups through. For me, this is one of the biggest differences between many public courses and a well managed private club. A four hour round should be the expectation, not a pleasant surprise. Beautiful course, friendly staff, decent conditions. But if pace of play matters to you, bring plenty of patience. read more

I advise everyone to avoid Leguna Seca Golf Ranch as a venue for your wedding. My son and daughter-in-law got married there this past Saturday (7/19/2025) and while the location made for a beautiful backdrop to the ceremony and photos, so much of their contract was not honored that it made things very stressful. We were supposed to have the patio (where the ceremony took place) and the room adjacent to it until a minimum of 3:30pm. We were also contracted to have two bartenders dedicated to our event, the use of their speaker system, a coordinator to help keep the ceremony on schedule, bridal photos on the golf course, and a slew of other things promised but never delivered. Instead, after the ceremony (about 1:00 or 1:30), Leguna Seca personnel rudely started telling the bride, groom, wedding party, and all guests that they had another event that day (which turned out to be untrue) so we were to clean everything up and leave immediately. It was a mad scramble to gather all of our stuff before Leguna Seca staff tossed it in the garbage and locked us out of the room (which they tried to do before we were done). As a result, my kids were not able to gather with their friends and family after pictures were done so we did not get to toast the bride and groom, make our speeches, watch them do their first dance, etc. This was extremely upsetting and robbed my kids of some very special memories of their special day. Shame on Leguna Seca for not living up to their end of the contract but feeling free to take many thousands of dollars from us for the venue fee, golf fees on Friday, and large alcohol tabs (Friday while playing golf and during the rehearsal plus Saturday during the wedding). To make matters worse, on wedding day we had to share the main bar and one bartender (the only kind and considerate staff member we encountered) with golfers which made the line to get a drink out of control. To say I am a mad Mom because of what this venue did to my kids special day would be a gross understatement. Fortunately, my kids are resilient and awesome and chose to focus on the positive aspects of the day instead of Leguna Seca's unprofessional actions. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this venue for a wedding, despite how beautiful it is. While the grounds and scenery are undeniably stunning, the experience we had with the staff--particularly the wedding coordinator Amber--left us deeply disappointed. Throughout the wedding , the majority of our guests personally came up to my husband and me to tell us how rude and unprofessional she was. She spoke sharply to guests, was dismissive to multiple members of our wedding party, and even rude to the children present. To make matters worse, Amber began setting up for the next day's wedding while ours was still very much happening. It felt rushed and disrespectful--as if we were being pushed out of our own event. The rest of the staff followed suit, with the exception of one kind and attentive bartender who truly stood out. As a bride, I expected some level of stress--it's a big day--but the behavior of this team created so much unnecessary anxiety for both me and my husband. Our wedding should have been filled with joy, not micromanagement, tension, and discomfort caused by the very people who were supposed to support us. Again, the venue itself is beautiful--but if you're looking for a smooth, supportive, and respectful wedding experience, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Great course but way way way too slow. One group slowing up 6 other groups and no Marshall in sight. Plenty of courses play at full capacity y and you can still finish in under 4 hours. Played 4 holes today and it took 1.5 hours. Totally unacceptable and a waste of money. read more

Last week hubby & I were on a getaway to Monterey with our two friends. We decided we'll play golf twice. My friend did the research, and found Laguna Seca. Why here? Well $61 senior with golf cart was a great incentive. We checked in and paid. We were told by the pro shop golf carts allowed in the lot. Great. How about play? He said hole 15 needed to bring two clubs. Good advice as there were two water shots for the guys, one for us ladies. The course is up and down. We all enjoyed the course even with hole 15. It's a very short course. We all did well. The bonus - what great scenery. Everywhere you looked, the homes up in the hills. And so much green all around. read more

Extremely Disappointed with the Wedding Coordination I attended my good friend's wedding at this venue, and while the location itself was beautiful, the experience was completely overshadowed by the extremely rude and unprofessional behavior of the on-site coordinator. From the moment we arrived, she micromanaged every single detail. not in a helpful way, but in a way that made guests feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She spoke down to people, barked orders, and was noticeably hostile toward the bridal party and guests. To make matters worse, she lied about having another event scheduled the same day, then changed her story to say they needed to prepare for an event the next day. just to justify rushing everyone out much earlier than what had been agreed upon. For the amount of money my friends paid for this venue, this kind of treatment was absolutely unacceptable. Weddings are meant to be joyful and memorable -- unfortunately, the coordinator's attitude left a sour taste in everyone's mouth. I do not recommend this venue unless they seriously reevaluate who they have representing their business. read more

Played the front 9 with some friends and this course was amazing. The views were spectacular. The service was nice and everyone was very helpful. The greens were inconsistent some were fast and some were slow but overall a beautiful and challenging course to play on. read more

I've been playing here since July 2023 and it's been a great course to work on my game. The driving range has grass to hit off of and plenty of room to hit the Driver too. A large bucket (100 balls) is $14. They have a chipping green but the bunkers do not have sand in them. The putting green is small but has good breaks to work on. The golf carts are allowed in the fairways and the Pro Shop staff are professional and friendly. The golf course is a great layout. The fairways are just ok and the greens roll about 9 or 10 on the stimp meter and they do get bumpy later in the day. Like most courses. The pace of play is around 4 hrs for 18 holes. I usually tee off around 2pm-3pm. At that time there is no beverage cart. Bathrooms on the course are not elegant. They don't smell but they could use a coat of paint. If you are from out of the area this is a good course for the price and you can see Deer and Wild Turkeys on most days. read more

This is not a bad track, just has to compete with some iconic courses. First thing, this is an affordable golf course. Nothing wrong with that. This golf course has lots of hills, and trees. There are some dog leg holes, and it's in decent condition. I noticed there were a lot of reviews complaining about the service, we did not have an issue with that. Be prepared for a LONG round. I've played here many times over the years and keep giving them a chance. I played last week; 5 hr round. Excessive waiting on every hole. Groups in front of us playing very slowly, clearly didn't understand course etiquette or good pace of play. At the end of the round I went into pro shop to give feedback. I asked if there was a player assistance coordinator (marshall) on course. The answer was 'no.' Believe me, they need one. I was also told it was busier than usual. I asked, 'perhaps you put the groups too close together, there are too many people on course.' I was told, /no, we planned it this way. ' Net-net, unless you want to give up an entire day to play a course that should take no more than 4 hrs, and don't mind waiting on every single hole, I would pass on this course. read more

Very interesting Robert Trent Jones course. Every hole is different. Great natural woodland setting. Very well maintained. Both summer and winter almost always sunny pleasant weather. Hills make walking challenging. Carts are the best way to play the course - at least until you have become familiar with it. read more

Poisons Animals for entertainment! Called Pro shop before I played there asking if they poisoned animals (ie. Squirrels, gophers, etc). They checked with groundskeeper and adamantly told me they do not poison. They said they only kill with snap traps below ground. Well, I played there based on what they told me. Nope!!! They had poison traps.., when I called the pro shop again and said someone must have accidentally put out poison... Mark said " oh yeah, those green containers... those are to kill the squirrels". If you haven't watched an animal die of poisoning, trust me, it's horrible, brutal suffering for days. Laguna Seca tortures animals for entertainment purposes.... selfish and cruel! read more

Had an awesome time here during golf week. We were in town for the U.S.Open, had a free day and found this course recommended on a web site. Course is easy to find off of hwy 68 but you never see the road or hear it during the round. Staff is very friendly and helpful and starter was absolutely sweet man with good info on the course. Well kept up driving range. Loved the elevations on the course and the nice advantage from the ladies tees!! Super enjoyable round! Course was in good shape, greens rolled well. And I have a lot of respect for the owners on NOT increasing the greens fees in a ridiculous way during golf week like most of the other courses in the area. I was a Member for a while. They made some sort of switch to their system (according to them) and I was double charged each month to a ridiculous amount of $450. When I called about this, I was put into contact with the head of their Accounting department. She confirmed that I was double charged to this amount. AGAIN, CONFIRMED THAT I WAS OVERCHARGED. She then proceeded to tell me that she cannot do anything about it until she spoke to the General Manager. Nothing every came of it, and after calling back and talking to her 3 or 4 times, she kept saying I will get back into contact with you. OVER AND OVER AND OVER they did nothing about it. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO SIGN UP THERE. read more

Visiting from San Francisco. Golf course is generally in pretty good shape, carts excellent. Very hilly.....I walked and would not do so again. My primary complaint is the restaurant/snack bar. It is listed as newly remodeled on the website. This is huge overstatement. No furniture, the menu selection is mostly hot dogs and burritos for $9 or more to be warmed in the microwave. Purchased a breakfast burrito and discovered on the course it was a chicken quesadilla....with lettuce that had been overheated in the microwave. Had asked for napkins, was told they are in the back (AND.....). Server could not be bothered to go get them. Wake up Laguna Seca management.....don't bother posting a snack bar/restaurant on your website till its up and running. I could have bought doughnuts or bagels on the way to the course for ¼ of the price. read more

Go to the counter to pay for my round and charged $89 and I politely inquire why is the online rate $69? He looks at me and says "WELL BOOK IT ONLINE THEN" My reaction "wow really" Pull out my phone to book online and he says "FORGER IT" and throws my credit card back at me. I'm in shock and said in complete sarcasm "wow, we will definitely be coming back here" Go out to the tee, till in awe of the treatment I just experienced and start to explain what had just happened to the starter to which he replies "that's non of my business, I just work here" I ask if he can have the head pro connect with me at some point and he says "he doesn't do that you will need to find him" I've been in and around the golf business most of life (12 years at Pebble Beach) and never have seen or even heard such treatment by staff. There are so may options for great golf not sure why anyone would patronize this establishment. read more

This ain't no cheap muni, in my opinion; this is a beautiful and challenging course which is always fun to play (it is a bit expensive, but nearly all the courses in this area are). A few of the holes are incredibly difficult, in fact, I nearly gave up the game because of #15 (I think it is #15) where you need to go over 3 hazards before reaching the green. NEVER have I picked up my ball and gone home before finishing the round except for here (I was at my 12th stroke before even reaching the green- - FRUSTRATION!!). This course is very well kept, lush, and in a country-like setting. If you don't like courses with a lot of hills and "ups" and "downs" then you may not enjoy LS. This is a course where you almost NEED a power cart. Personally, I hate power carts, I golf much better without one, but there are a few pretty steep hills leading to the tee-box where you will be wishing you had one. Be ready to feel the burn if you are "hoofing" it. read more

I used to love coming here but lately, (last three times) the customer service has gone down hill. It seems they are a not interested in enhancing the golf experience. The pro shop staff are poorly trained if at all. I don't even think there is a pro at the place, anymore. It used to be a hidden jewel, not so much. It's simple, this place is not your Pebble Beach/Spyglass, nor is it your cheap local golf course tucked up and around a trailer park/major highway. The course is nestled nicely in the middle of CA-68 and very rarely are you hugged up against the road. It is VERY easy. The only thing causing hesitation are a few doglegs (which could be cut with the right swing) and basically every hole has a bunker in the front left and right side of the green. The course is also pretty short, if you are a bogey golfer or better, have some fun and play from the tips. Overall the conditions were great. It was not burnt up, the greens rolled great, and the fairways were pretty well kept. The rough is either really nice or just....nothing. As in you are hitting off barren patches of ground. The staff won't lend any kind of niceties to you. You come in, check in, go on your way. No small talk here. For me, I am ok with that. I'll chat with the people I am out playing with. Go and play the course if you are fiending for a round. The price isn't your cheapest round. But it is less expensive than PG and more expensive that Monterey Pines. read more

I've been a member at Laguna Seca for many years. The renovations to the golf shop, bars and event area are very nice. Laguna Seca, although, has for years failed miserably to maintain the golf course. Crabgrass has all but taken over the fairways and invaded many greens. The greens are poxed with two or three varieties of grass making them bumpy and slow. The grass around the pins are raised turning away many putts from going into the cup. The cart paths are unbelievably ignored, broken, raise or pot-holed making some areas dangerous. Although the cost to play is fair, it is overshadowed by the condition of the course. Maybe the closure of the Rancho Canada courses gave Laguna the false impression that their business would be infallible. I doubt I'll renew my membership next year. read more

First impression was from Hwy 68 and I liked what I saw. However, my gut feeling changed a bit once I entered the Pro Shop. The staff wasn't the friendliest and I just didn't feel welcomed. My playing partner said he felt the same way. We proceed up to the range and found that it was in fairly poor condition, but it was good enough to warm up. Once we got onto the course I found that the conditions weren't that bad. I really like the layout of the course .. especially the back 9. Speed of play was okay ... got done in just a little over 4 hours. Okay so now to the part I hate to report. I booked our tee time through their website. Website doesn't say anything about us booking through Golfnow.com. In fact it states that the site is powered by Teeitup. The site did have a feature that allowed me to leave a note for the Pro Shop. In this space I added that I would be using a Golfmoose.com voucher as payment for our green fees. Anyway to make a long store short ... the day after we played, I received an email message from Golfnow saying that the course claimed we were a no show and that we're subjected to $98.00 of green fees as such. I called the Pro Shop and gave them some information (the name of the single whom we were paired up with, as well as the Golfmoose voucher number we used) to prove we were there. I was told that they would look into it and I would receive a call with their findings. I didn't hear back from them so I called back the next day. Got a hold of Todd, the Director of golf and he asked me for a receipt to prove I was there. I told him that the guy at the desk had stapled my receipt to the Golfmoose voucher and kept it. He then proceeded to lecture me about their no-show policy (I'd been fine with that except for the fact we did show up ... I think to myself, why are we even talking about this). He told me that he would get back to me shortly after he would do some research ... he never called back but must have spoken with Golfnow as I received a call from them saying that the course had decided to change their mind about the charge. Would I play there again ... probably in the distance future as I liked the layout, but unless things change with their attitude I'd never rank them higher than 2 stars. read more

This place could be so much better but they have let the greens, cart paths and general maintenance run down. You are paying a high-end price, being in Monterey and all, and the course could pay attention more to details. It's still a scenic and fun course but for about $80 mid-week I expect more. Driving range is excellent, nice grass. Greens are funky and bumpy, like they have some fungus or rot on them. Cart paths also pretty chewed up. Now that I have the kvetching out of the way it does offer two challenging and unique sides. The front is more traditional, and easier. The back starts off with a corkscrewing dog-leg left where any drive right will roll and go out of bounds. (Aim for that big dead tree on the left and think long iron or hybrid.) 15 is no. 1 handicap and I somehow managed to par it. No warning signs but you have to go over a pond on your second shot and then on your third. It's still a fun and challenging course just wish it was in better shape. read more

This golf course has great promise. The holes are interesting, some are challenging and the view is fantastic. My main complaint is the condition of the course. The fairways and greens are infested with many types of alien grass and in most case the turf is very thin. Also the course is the home of hundreds of geese that at times sit in your line. Did I mention the course is on the final takoff/landing to the Monterey airport. The course is about right for a high handicap player who would not complain. A low handicap player would be shocked at the turf conditions. My suggestion is to try Monterey Pines. For the money it's better. read more

I played Laguna Seca bright and early this morning for the first time. I have heard a mixed bag of reviews, so I didn't know what quite to expect. We booked it for $55 on a Sunday morning, so the price was definitely right. The course was in nice shape. A little dry from the recent stretch of freezing weather. But overall the fairways, rough and greens were in marvelous shape. Especially the greens. The course is pretty wide open, some small oaks line the fairways - but you can play off of most of the adjoining fairways on several holes. It is also a little hilly, and like most Robert Trent Jones courses - bunkers are placed in tough spots. The pace was excellent as well. We never once caught the group in front of us - the pro shop set up wise 12-minute breaks between times. Challenging, but not difficult. I finished on fire, and broke my recent funk - so today was a great day! I would call it a little Silverado - a little Rancho Canada. 4 stars. read more

Don't go here!! The course is nice but absolutely none of their carts last an entire round. Today marked the third round played that I had to have 2 extra carts brought out to me just to finish 18 holes. Every time it's the same excuse we haven't had time to charge them or we had a tournament this morning. Wrong! My tee time was first thing in the morning so no excuse to why my cart shouldn't make it through 18 holes. If you have a cart problem you should at least return the persons cart fee if they have dead cart issues all day. Play at your own risk or plan on walking all day and skip the cart fee! read more

One day I was bored, so I drove all the way down here by myself to see what the course was like. (I found a dirt-cheap discount tee time on-line.) The driving range is absolutely fabulous! Tons of room, hit off of grass, target greens, putting greens, practice bunkers...you name it. To top it off, the view is beautiful. You'll want to take a cart to get up here as it's not exactly a short walk from the clubhouse. So, I play golf as a single walk-on a lot, simply because I have a job that allows me to golf more than I should. As strange as this may sound, the club house sent me out as a single! Weird! So, I played the whole Front 9 by myself. When I got to the turn, there was a 24-minute back up. I paired up with another lone single (???) and a twosome. We only had to wait 8 minutes. There is a snack window with probably the sweetest old lady you've ever met working there. The front 9 feels very much like a cheap muni. You're always in sight of people playing the hole next to you and the course is fairly unremarkable. The 1st is this crazy downhill fairway which, when dry, will allow your tee shot to almost make it to the green. The Back 9 has some very, very strange water holes on it, but at least offers a little more diversity than the previous 9 holes. I have to admit, the 18th is probably one of the most anti-climatic finishing holes I've seen. It's uphill and ends up right next to the clubhouse. However, the course was in decent shape overall. Anyway, if you're in the area and can get a cheap tee time, I would recommend it. I just wouldn't go out of my way to get here. However, if you live close enough to use the practice facilities on a regular basis, you're incredibly lucky. I'd be practicing here every day if I lived around the corner. Decent bar and restaurant in the clubhouse with friendly staff after your round is finished. read more

Drove here for a weekend of golf with friends and this course was day two. Played on a Saturday. Cost was almost a $100 with a cart, not a great price. Walking is difficult here because of the hills. However if you buy a riding cart, expect it to run out of a charge before the round is over, I saw this happen at lest 5 times today. Sad. The course was overall in decent shape. The rough needs maintenance, badly. Greens are in great shape. Sand is okay. The experience is just okay, I will not probably be back. I can play much better maintained courses for less money in the NorCal areas. Cost is too Much for what we get. read more

I walked my first 18 here on 1/29/13 and absolutely enjoyed every minute! Including the 15th, which made me laugh alot...common we all know it's mostly a mind game! Utlimate relaxation for a newcomer to the game...the course was well manicured and the golf shop guys are very accomodating! Ps. Walking th whole 18 takes a bit of effort from the back 9 to finish, so remember to hydrate and bring a protein bar! read more

Two stars because it's pretty and the grass is green and mowed. This place used to be awesome! Now its just kinda sad. There isn't any sand in the sand trap and they don't rake them. I understand not having the golfers do it due to covid but come on once a day run a rake through it. The bathrooms are not clean. The marshal just sits in the lodge. And there is a $19 "spectator" fee in addition to the $70 for player plus $19 for the cart. I don't golf and love to spend the morning with my husband but that's just ridiculous! I am happy to pay over a hundred bucks for a round of golf but felt like I paid a premium for fast food at a nice restaurant. We'll be going back to Monterey Pines and PG. Laguna should put some love into this place or make the prices more suitable to the experience you get. read more
