Cute place! The food was great! They ran out of item I really wanted. Quick and great service! Enjoyed it!

Cantonese comfort food. You can order a la carte or a set menu. I enjoyed the set menu of chicken sticky rice, rich milk tea, and a millet congee. Hit the spot. I felt like an old person bc a see a lot of elderly eating this lol Vibe is HK cafe. Staff will get you what you need once you get their attention.

First time here. Hidden gem. Place looks very busy, but it's really the lines at the takeout counter and BBQ meats window area. You can actually bypass that line and put your name on waitlist paper or wave down a server in back. The restaurant isn't fancy or new inside, but they sure had plenty of tables and chairs. Breakfast hour is usually very busy and much better during lunch hour. All meal sets looked pretty darn good and prices are considered cheap and affordable for the good food quality offered. Hong Kong style/Cantonese employees. We had the special meal set C $13.99 and meal set F $12.99. Both comes with a beverage, foods were huge in portions, and very good in flavors/ingredients too. Not disappointed here. My C meal came with my favorite chow mein noodles & club sandwich cut in half. I really liked the taste and looks of it. Delicious. I picked the hot cup soybean milk for my meal. Organic and nutritious! Meal F was the chicken and rice wrapped in leaf. The egg yolk and sausage inside it was a bonus/so good. F meal came with the porridge & sides. Nice! Hot cup coffee and cream is good enough. Frugal meals/frugal prices, but very good quality authentic foods. Fully satisfied. Public restroom was not small and it was decent for use. Cashiers in back were quick during checkout as well. Again, it's not a modern style or fancy place, but great for casual loud environments. Seats were comfortable and tables were clean. Looks like a good stop again in the near future. Everything looks tasty here. Breakfast menu looks tempting. Must try! Frugal eats. Under $15 per person in this current economy for a good full meal is worth it. Yes, they do accept credit cards here.

Nice place to eat. Good value for the price. Pork was juicy and tender and soup had lots of seafood.

One of my favorite breakfast places in the Bay. Pricing is great and love the set meals. If Cantonese style breakfast is not your thing, they have other small plate options. One thing to note, congee comes with sliced ginger. If you don't like ginger, ask the to take it out.

Service was fast. You walk in and the deli meats hit all your senses. That was delicious. The place is small but to me it seemed like one of the most authentic rice and meats places I have been to. Funny even their lemon ice tea was on point. Loved it!!

Great spot for Cantonese food. We ordered their chow mein, spicy noodle soup, marinated tofu, and char siu. Everything was delicious, big in portion size, and came quickly. Service was also super friendly and prompt. The char siu in particular was very juicy and tender and not at all tough, overcooked, or dry. Despite it being Wednesday lunch, Laka was packed, and we noticed a few folks who came later had to wait a few minutes for tables to open up. Prices are very reasonable. Seating is comfy, and interior is clean and spacious.

Laka, 447 Broadway, Milbrae, CA94030. Very good Cantonese roast meat spot. Brought family members this time. The roast pork was consistent with our previous visit, tender, not too lean, not too fatty, roasted just right, with the skin crisp, light and crunchy. The braised duck wings, porridge that came with condiments were perfect and flavorful. Very satisfying meal ! There's roast goose on the menu which I will try next time. The eatery is small and has a Hong Kong cafe vibe. There's a waitlist but moved reasonably quickly. Staffs were friendly. Definitely recommended.

This place is okay. For $13 or so you can get a breakfast special. This might not be for me because I thought the breakfast was unsubstantial. I had a breakfast fan tuan which was tiny and some dumplings. This was maybe a 3.5/5 stars for me. Service was quick. I liked that it came with hot milk tea. It's very simple but again, maybe not the breakfast type that is hearty since it's very carb-y. It is traditional and they have a lot of other choices too. The place is very clean.

Their BBQ stuffs look pretty nice/savory from outside, in particularly their roast duck. We tried most of them with 2 three items BBQ rice plate. All items were pretty good, I liked their roast duck best, Char Siu was above average but could be better. All other BBQ were quite good also. It's a nice little place. Overall it was quite clean. Service was fine even they were short handed the day we went there. Definitely will go back to try out other stuffs

I came here for breakfast in a Wednesday morning. Even on a weekday morning, all the tables were busy. The breakfast combos are definitely worth it. The fan Tuan was flavorful and filling. The dumplings are ok. They also have Cantonese bbq meat. I saw a lot of people getting that Togo

Stopped by Laka and had a solid meal overall. We ordered the 3 item BBQ rice plate with BBQ pork, roast pork, and roast duck, plus the signature beef rib noodle soup, fried cartilage, and chow mein. The BBQ plate was definitely the highlight. The roast duck had nice flavor and was juicy, the BBQ pork was tender with a slightly sweet glaze, and the roast pork had a good balance of meat and crispy skin. The portion was generous and satisfying. The signature beef rib noodle soup was comforting, with tender ribs and a rich broth that tasted like it had been simmered well. The chow mein was simple but tasty and paired well with everything else. The fried cartilage was crispy and fun to snack on, though a little on the salty side for me. Service was quick and the space felt casual and comfortable for a relaxed meal. Overall a strong 4 star experience. Plenty of variety and solid flavors--definitely a spot I'd come back to try more items next time.

My team and I almost every other weekend decides to come by this spot and order breakfast to go. The place is open early and it is always ready to go. It is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly. We always elect to order the combo packages from their menu which we thought they are such good deals. The quality of their food are excellent with them all made fresh at a daily. I personally elected for SetB combo and I absolutely enjoy it. And we keep coming back for more...

I got the potato salad and the zhajiangmian, and my boyfriend got the Lanzhou beef noodles and pork burger. My boyfriend enjoyed his Lanzhou beef noodles a lot, the beef was tender and the broth was incredibly flavorful and delicious. He liked the pork burger a lot as well, they did not skimp on the meat and the bun was fluffy! I would highly recommend this dish to anyone, it's a classic that is done well! They do have outdoor seating, not that it would help much when the lunch crowd is huge. Since the store name emphasizes on Hainan chicken, i havent quite explored their other menu items. First time I had the Hainan chicken rice plate, another time I had the noodle version. Funnily I find their rice plate version smaller portioned than the noodle soup, however it's not a true Hainan chicken experience without having oil rice. Both dishes serve Hainan chicken with scallion oil marinade and roasted peanuts. While noodles have oyster mushroom and spinach, rice plate has pickled veggies. Overall it gets the craving settled, its not the greatest though. The noodle soup was an interesting option. It feels a bit like when youre making noodle soup at home and just tossed in random toppings. I had corn, spinach, oyster mushroom. Definitely not a combo I see commonly. The soup was not bad, its drinkable, not salt at all. However its a bit odd to pair it with Hainan chicken, perhaps better with fishcake or meat balls, I did see a meatballs version. They do have other noodle style and broths to choose from, such as hot and sour, laksa. They do offer fish paste noodle if you want a teeny tiny bit more protein. Overall food is okay. It's nothing to rave about, even though I love Hainan chicken.

All the ingredients tasted fresh and the dish had a bit of everything we wanted to try. I liked the tofu skin the best, and my daughter loved the crunchy cucumber. It would be even better if they included lotus roots as well. It took a little while for the house special beef noodle soup (less spicy) to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait. It came piping hot. The broth was very flavorful, with the right amount of red pepper. It wasn't oily at all. The beef was super tender. I have been to Kajiken twice now, and it has been absolutely delicious each time. It is located in downtown San Mateo, so it does not have its own dedicated parking lot. If you come on the weekend, it can be harder to find parking, and the likelihood of a wait is high. When it gets busy, there is a section outside for you to line up. The servers typically come out to the folks closest to the front of the line and hand them menus so they can decide what they want before being seated. When it is not as busy, you can walk in directly and request a table. The shop itself actually has a lot of seating, but there is always an influx of people, so it fills up quickly. The interior gives off a nice modern Japanese chic vibe. :) They also offer outdoor patio seating, which is great if you are trying to enjoy a nice day outside. I have tried both their Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba and their Soboro Aburasoba. The roast beef is tender and adds a nice chew against the silky noodles, while the soboro chicken is juicy and coats your mouth with a savory soy flavor. Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

Never wanted to write a review so quickly after having the meal! Mainly because we got A+ service…read morefrom our server, who was absolutely sweet, accommodating, and great with kids. Upon getting seated, she asked if we wanted a plastic water cup, regular bowl, and plastic utensils for my toddler. I highly prefer being environmentally friendly, so I only opted for the reusable bowl. I truly appreciate her asking me before automatically bringing everything. I ordered the Pho Tai Gau (rare steak and brisket) with thin pho noodles, split bowl with extra noodles to share with my toddler. The meat is super thin and tender! Although we ordered "extra" noodles, it didn't feel like extra compared to a normal bowl, but my toddler wanted more soup than noodles so it worked out. We also got the imperial rolls appetizer. It was tasty but I felt like it was a bit overdone, because it hurt the roof of my mouth haha, but I do prefer it to be crispy than soggy so I'm not complaining! Just be aware :) Nowadays, my best eating out meals are those in which my toddler enjoyed and allowed her to be on her best behavior. Our server checked up on us multiple times (never had to flag her down) and took great care of us. My toddler even let her pick her up! So thank you for the great service!
