    Skewers

My friend and I have been wanting to find a chinese skewer spot in the bay area. We randomly found this place online and it was opened late so we decided to try it out. There is street parking in the front. We ordered beef, lamb, mushrooms, fish tofu, and chicken cartilage. Everything was pretty food. The lamb and chicken cartilage was probably my favorite. The fish tofu did seem too cold though, like it wasn't cooked all the way from frozen so that was a bit disappointing. They gave a black pepper sauce to dip with which was interesting and the usual cumin dry rub. Seems like they used to have the self cook skewers with the grill but not anymore? This was a good dinner spot. It is probably a good spot to hang out and eat with a big group. Service was attentive. The lady working the front was actually mopping up with the front door locked when we arrived so we did feel bad.

Disappointed that they don't have rotating skewers anymore (their previous pics showed that), but the skewers they do have are delicious! Food comes out pretty fast and all of it was delicious. The lamb and enoki skewers were our favorite. The eggplant comes with lots of garlic and the zucchini comes with a Mentaiko sauce. The scallops with noodles also came with lots of garlic, it was yummy but a smidge greasy. The noodles also get a little stuck to the shell. You order everything on a QR code, so it's easy and chill. Definitely will be back since the skewer prices here are pretty affordable vs what's in the peninsula at other restaurants.

Got the toast, noodles and skewers with some beer. Servers were nice and attentive. The Area was clean and parking was accessible on the street. I thought the food was alright I enjoyed the chicken cartilage but the beef was a little mid. Lamb was decent too. Food is decently priced but nothing really surprised me considering it was Michelin rated. Would like to come back and try again

Great tasty seasoned Chinese BBQ grilled skewers in a modern new Chinese bbq restaurant! Think Yakitori or KBBQ but Chinese style bbq. You can bring a group of friends and cook your own meat or order grilled skewers and food from the kitchen! Best of both worlds! Definitely coming back! Lounge/club vibes for tasty food and drinks with great service!

My friend Brianda suggested this place and it was an excellent choice. We've never been to a barbecue skewer grill restaurant before so this was an experience. We ordered the abalone in secret sauce and the whole dish and sauce was delicious! We ordered a lot of the skewers like the abalone, quail eggs, chicken hearts, and some steak. We told our server (probably the owner) that we were new, and she told us how long to cook the food. She was very helpful! I liked the rotating skewers while it cooked. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We also had the Momomo Peach Kotshiso which was delicious. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the area and will definitely come back again!

First off, the quality of the meats are amazing. My parents and I ordered their Set A to try a majority of the skewers. I absolutely loved their beef and lamb skewers. After grilling it, it completely melts in your mouth without much chew. They even had a Bun Slice skewer that was surprisingly a very tasty delicacy after roasting! I tried their super refreshing passion fruit green tea, which pairs so well with skewers. The service was amazing as well! The owner served us and talked through the menu, recommending her favorites and must tries. She spoke to us about her restaurant right next door as well. She was super enthusiastic about growing Ai Grill, which added to the experience. When our skewers came, she thought us how to grill them to get the perfect consistencies of each dish. This restaurant seems like the perfect place to hit up on a cold night with friends!

My girlfriend and I have craving skewers constantly this year as our comfort food and found this unique place not too far from San Francisco. Unlike traditional skewer places where it comes out hot and fresh directly to you, there's an automatic grill at each table that rotates the skewers so that every piece of flesh is grilled to your liking. We ordered Set A for $88.88 (and also added some other skewers and and eggplant) which was actually a lot of food for two people. The act of grilling the meat was also quite fascinating and fun, making this not just an "eating" experience.

Went there for dinner work my colleagues, we all liked the food, especially the bbq lamb and oysters , so good, freshly bbq, we chose all the meat with spicy(It's not that spicy). The Chinese pancake is good good too. Overall, the restaurant is very clean? Staffs are friendly, we will come back for sure.

I liked this place. Good vibes. Clean. Not a lot of tables, but fairly spacious. This place is great for groups! Bring your friends and family for a good time. This place is a little confusing though because I think they go by 2 names - Flame BBQ and Ai Grill. The food was pretty good, flavorful. Their ingredients are fairly fresh. Service was good. They brought out our items at a reasonable pace. Price is decent. One thing that this place does poorly is that they have poor ventilation. For a grill place, good ventilation is highly important, and it got quite stuffy in there at some point. Parking can be difficult, as it's on the Main Street. Luckily, I was able to find parking right outside.

The menu has so many great seafood options, especially if you're a crab lover. They offer a variety of different crab flavors, so there's a good chance you'll find one that fits your taste. The crab was flavorful, saucy, and so satisfying to dig into. They even give you bibs upon request, which honestly feels necessary if you're planning to go all in. The prawns were also a highlight. They were a decent size, cooked well, and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the garlic noodles, which were great and exactly the kind of buttery, garlicky carb moment you want with seafood. The green beans were a nice addition too and helped balance out the meal with something fresh and veggie-forward. The only thing I'd probably skip next time would be the raw oysters which didn't taste as fresh. Their fried chicken was delicious though! Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly, which made the whole experience even better. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better casual seafood feast. It was so good that my husband and I actually came back two days later just to get the fried chicken and crab again. That pretty much says it all.

Everything came out piping hot. The crabs were fresh, chicken wings were not overly battered, noodles were al dente, and pea sprouts were in season. Whenever I have crab, my favorite sauce/seasoning is the salted egg yolk. Just a hint of saltiness but packed full of umami flavors. After tasting the peppercorn flavor, I found myself loving it too! All the ingredients (peppercorn, tons of garlic "garlicky heaven", and butter) blended well together like one big happy family. This is my new favorite seasoning, a slight edge above the salted egg yolk, as it doesn't taste as greasy. I wish we had taken photos but I was very hungry. This place also has a full bar with 3 good size tv's, which is nice when you want to watch the nba finals too. I thought check-in was on the left as this was the waiting area, and there was a small 'reception' counter which I found confusing. Soooo just a note, be sure to check-in on the right side. We left a little past closing time (9pm) and they didn't rush us. Oh and we were given ice cream cones for dessert. Yuuummm!!! Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Come hungry and leave happy.

It was a buffet luncheon of prime rib, salmon, rigatoni pasta, vegetable medley and a cake dessert which the club provided. We were able to offer a second helping of rigatoni and prime rib. The prime rib was A little fatty but was tender. I enjoyed The salmon even thought it was small and not overcooked. I think the restaurant could have made up for this if they added bread and butter and perhaps a salad. Always love the option to join the online waitlist ahead of time when reservations aren't available. Favorite dishes of the night were: -Gnocchi Fritto appetizer: Never had fried gnocchi before, had a great puffy texture. Truffle taste in the truffle cream sauce wasn't very strong. -Zucchine e Maiz lasagna: Pesto was a great sauce choice and paired well with the zucchini and corn. -Squid Ink Seafood Pasta (special): Generous seafood portions and the dish was flavorful. -Complimentary focaccia: Fluffy and yummy with olive oil. Other dishes: The Italian Sausage lasagna was fine. I personally love crispy lasagna edges, but some people found it too crisp and too dry. The salad (Insalata di Rucola) wasn't mind blowing, but I'm glad we ordered a veg to cut through the richness and heaviness of three carb-heavy entrees. The restaurant itself is smaller than expected, so I would avoid coming here with large parties. It also felt really hot and stuffy inside, which I anticipate getting worse as summer progresses. The interior is cutely decorated. Service was initially attentive. We did have to flag down our waitress multiple times to order and get the check. Seafood Linguni Special (5/5): If the waiter tells you this is the special today, this is a MUST ORDER! We substituted the squid ink spaghetti with linguini, and it perfectly soaked up the DECADENT SAUCE. Not too salty and perfectly balanced. Complimented the seafood incredibly. I will come back and eat this EVERY TIME. Pesto Gnocchi (4/5): They cook the gnocchi really tender and soft, so don't expect really chewy potato dumplings. I personally like the texture and it absorbed the pesto really well. This had no frills and was simple. Could use some more salt and cheese, but still easily yummy. -1 star because we did find a little piece of white plastic in our Lasagna Bolognese (pictured in this review). Even though it had been a while since our last visit, we always found the food to be pretty consistent and reliable. So, after seeing that Garden Kitchen had taken their place, we had to come here to see how this place compares! Looking around inside, it's hard to tell that anything about this place has changed. Their configuration is largely the same, offering plenty of tables inside, for groups large or small, and the menu, while different, is still pretty interesting. While not a HK cafe, it has a cafe sort of feel to it. Along with a slate of appetizers, they also have congee, noodle soups, chow fun/chow mein, fried rice, rice plates, noodle soups, and specialty entrees, including hainan chicken, which seems to be their most popular dish. In addition, they also have some Chinese BBQ options, like Char Siu and Roast Duck, but, tragically, we didn't see roast pork listed. -- ROAST DUCK (QUARTER) I was cautiously optimistic for this one and, thankfully, it turned out great. The pieces we got were rather meaty and the skin on this was really flavorful and neither too soft nor dried out. -- HOUSE SPECIAL HAINAN CHICKEN (QUARTER) Not as amazing as we had hoped for, but still pretty solid. The pieces we got were a bit lean and the skin wasn't the greatest, but the chicken itself was cooked well and I liked the peanuts that this came with. -- SALT & PEPPER FISH FILET Although this wasn't as good as others I've had, this wasn't bad. On the plus side, the batter was crispy, the fish was moist, and there was a fair amount of garlic and peppers. On the other, the inside of the batter was really gummy. -- THREE COMBO MEAT STIR-FRIED RICE NOODLES Sadly, I just wasn't a fan of this at all. Although this had a decent mix of stuff in it, the noodles themselves were torn apart, overcooked, and just kind of tasteless. Pass. -- BEEF CHOW FUN Pretty standard, but still pretty good! The noodles had a nice bite to them and, surprisingly, the slices of beef weren't as tough as I feared they would be. Plus, the dish wasn't very oily either. -- DRY FRIED STRING BEANS WITH MINCED MEAT Nothing special, but still pretty solid. The string beans were cooked well and they didn't skimp on the meat. However, I wish they had used some XO sauce in this to add a stronger punch of flavors. -- BEEF BRISKET & TURNIP RICE PLATE Along with the Roast Duck, this was my other favorite dish here. The brisket was super tender and I really liked how the sauce had a nice beefiness and richness to it. -- BRAISED FISH FILET WITH TOFU & BLACK MUSHROOMS This didn't look all that impressive, but it was actually pretty good. The tofu and mushrooms were both great, but, like the salt & pepper fish, the batter felt a little gummy. -- TOMATO BEEF PAN FRIED NOODLES I didn't eat much of this one, so I can't say much about it. However, based on what I had, this was fine. The noodles were crispy, the portion was decent, and the beef wasn't chewy. -- SOY SAUCE CHOW MEIN For better or worse, this was kind of generic. There wasn't anything about this that stood out, but at least the noodles weren't overcooked nor was it salty/heavy on soy sauce. -- POTSTICKERS Ehh...this was fine. The filling wasn't too shabby and I liked how soft the skins were. However, I wish these had a harder and deeper crust on the bottom to give it that crunch. -- PORK & SHRIMP WONTON NOODLE SOUP Honestly, this had the potential to be so much better. Despite how this came with a fair amount of wontons that were all pretty plump, the broth was surprisingly bland and diluted. Beyond the food, service here is unremarkable, but not necessarily in a negative sense. Rather, there's nothing amazing about it, but all of the workers are still friendly enough and efficient while the kitchen gets orders out relatively quick, which is all you can really ask for. All in all, while a couple of our dishes were definitely pretty tasty, just as many underwhelmed while the rest were just okay. Combine that with how there usually isn't a line and how parking is super easy (they have a small lot, too) and Garden Kitchen is still a terrific option for a quick and convenient meal. Though, one that isn't quite as tasty as Fat Wong's used to be. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.
