We tried several different spots around Lake Amador before settling on this one, and it has become our favorite. It's tucked away from the busier areas, surrounded by oak trees that provide plenty of shade, and there's almost always a nice breeze, which makes a huge difference on hot California afternoons. If you're looking for a quiet campsite to relax rather than a crowded area, this is a great choice. One of our favorite parts was the wildlife. We saw deer walking near the campsite every day. They were beautiful to watch... although they helped themselves to our peaches overnight! Fair enough--they seemed to enjoy them. There's also an easy path down to the water if you want to spend time by the lake, but for us the biggest attraction was simply the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and the chance to disconnect for a couple of days. I came here for a three-day camping trip and had an overall great experience. Checking in was easy, it was a bit of a wait because others were checking in at the same time, but the service was good. I liked our area, we were in the 50's. The frustrating part was they just knocked down a building so they were working just above our area on the Friday I arrived. It was extremely noisy and the machines blew dirt on our campsite. I was really annoyed, but when they stopped it was peaceful. My biggest complaint was the bathroom by our site. The toilets kept clogging up. I discovered a way to hold the lever down until it fully flushed, but a lot of people didn't in that area so it was constantly clogged. But, one of their staff came frequently to clean, fix the issue, and replenish the toilet paper. She told me that this particular bathroom was the worst on the property, and that the others were better. The showers however were remarkably clean, clearly very well tended, had hot water too. The grounds were beautiful and the lake was just gorgeous. I loved seeing the old school playground near our site. Between the noise on my first day and the constantly clogging bathroom I almost gave this location three stars. But, literally everything else was fabulous so I decided on four. I would absolutely go camping here again, just in a different location. read more

From the time I called to make the camping reservation, to buying food at the diner, to renting a boat, certain staff consistently came across as rude and condescending. Multiple interactions felt unnecessarily dismissive, which made the overall experience frustrating from the start. There was also confusion around pricing. My friends who came to visit the campsite were charged the same amount just to park in the site as I paid for the full three-day camping reservation. At that point it would have made just as much sense to reserve the surrounding campsites. When we asked about it, staff told us the rates had changed that month, but that explanation didn't seem to line up since my reservation price had not changed. The water conditions near the campsites were also quite poor. Additionally, after three separate trips here and renting boats each time, we have yet to catch any trout. The only fish we've managed to catch are small sunfish and small bass. Given that trout fishing is the main reason people travel here, that was disappointing. This was my third visit, and unfortunately the experience has been consistently underwhelming. Between the customer service, pricing issues, and fishing conditions, I would personally recommend looking at other nearby lakes or rivers instead of making the trip out here. read more

I still have questions about this lake. It can be a hit or miss. Im not just talking about fishing. We have been here about 5 times so far to camp and to go fishing. The first experience was good, and it made us want to come back. The staff was really nice the first time, and they even encourage you to drive around to find some good spots for your next visit. After our first stay, before we left, we decided to look around for a spot that is near the water because we love to just relax and go fishing. We ended up finding a spot at dry camp that was numbered 123. It was perfect! We took time looking for a spot like this because we have an infant, and we needed a good spot where we had easy access to the water and a bank to set up our playpen. It also had a trail with steps that led down to the lake. It was the very last spot on the corner, and there were no numbered sitrd after that one. We went up to the front before we left and reserved it for 2 nights for Thanksgiving weekend. When we showed up that weekend, we checked in, drove to the site, and noticed there's an RV in the site we reserved. When we pulled up, we noticed the facility ended up spray painting numbers on the sites with orange spray paint and added site 124, which was 123. We were so disappointed because we were really looking forward to fishing with our infant for the first time. We drove back to the office and asked for a refund because they were the ones that ended up switching the sites on us. There was not a site 124 when we were there the last time. They apologized and said that the owners will not budge at all on a refund. They only offered to let us drive around again to switch sites. We did drive around, but there was nothing available close to the water that had easy access. There were maybe 2 other campsites, but the access was too steep to take a chance with our infant. I asked again about a refund, and they still said no. We ended up having a terrible disappointing weekend and could not go fishing, which was our main reason for going. Then, I was a little upset after a few days of reading these reviews and seeing there were other people who were refunded for other issues. Because Lake amador is so close to us, we figured maybe that was just a fluke, and we'll try again. We have gone back a few other times, but overall, it has been okay. They have a live band on the second Saturday of the month. It's kind of nice to sit in the cafe with the locals and just relax. We have fished there about 4 different times and have not caught anything. But if you just like to go fishing, it's still nice to just sit back and relax. I think they do need to work on the customer service when it comes to situations like second stay. We only ended up staying that weekend because we didn't want to waste our money. It was not our fault that they decided to add in another campsite number after we already booked our site. read more

We have an RV up there long term and it is our home away from home. Look forward to going every weekend and eating in the clubhouse and visiting with the residents..Great camping spots for campers as well. They stock more trout than Camanche and Pardee, but the lake is about 1/8 the size. The trout meat is oily and pink, delicious. They are so healthy and fight so hard. Everybody at the cafe has always been super nice to me. I thank my lord every time I see that rod tip moving. Now I'm all amped up to go fish. Let's go! read more

Went to get the boat at 7:30 am and was told they were all gone. I told the guy I was on the list. He said they are all gone. SMH. We had a wonderful time in spot 89. Checkin was easy. We ate breakfast at the Tackle Box Cafe and food was WONDERFUL. Our campsite was VERY QUIET. Restrooms were clean and so were the showers. We rented a boat and the staff was very helpful and even gave us a half day price because we brought it back early . We felt very secure with the security driving around hourly . 4 stars for visit 5/21-23 CAMPSITE We were placed on campsite 112 (a premium campsite but charged at a standard rate due to the receding lake). Missy helped us out during our check in and was very pleasant and kind. When we got to our campsite, there was no grill on the designated grilling area. A look at our neighboring campsites showed that they had designated grills (think of those grills you see at parks with the grates that are stuck on). I called the front desk and they suggested to grill on sites 83 or 84 as they were not being used that day. I took a look at those sites and it would be incredibly annoying to grill THAT far away from camp. We went back to the front desk and explained our situation. Everyone was perplexed but Danny, who just happened to be sitting there, thought of an idea and gave us spare grill grates to use. It was a life-saving (albeit ghetto) solution. The campsite was far enough from our (at times) rambunctious neighbors and we had a great time. There were very little bugs and other wildlife that decided to say hello to us during our visit. We were close to the bathrooms and had a spigot for water that was close (but shared). DISC GOLF We were told that the disc golf course in Lake Amador was beautiful and it was the main reason we chose this campground. We decided to play the north course first, which sits very far from the campgrounds themselves. I would not call this course beautiful at all. There are minimal lake views and the grass lands that you are playing on are unkempt...meaning you are throwing your disc into a sea of dried grass (meaning you will be covered with pokey and stabby grass remnants that irritate you with every step if you are anything less than a pro). This course is a LONG 18 holes and features massive piles of horse droppings to make it more difficult. A good majority of the time, I did not know where I was aiming from the tee-off area. We decided to play the south course the last day and it was much more pleasant. It was nice....but not the beautiful like I was promised. This course was very close to the campgrounds and was hidden amongst the trees. It was short and took half the time as the north course. It is a good thing we ended on this course or I would never play disc golf again (haha). read more

We called and reserved a week at the lake in a full hook up site. We asked about the fishing and were told they weren't planting right now but will start again in late October. With 34,000 lbs of fish planted this season I figured the fishing should still be decent if not perfect. We were told the lake level was down about 20 feet. OK. We can deal with that. 230 mile drive. Check in. $45 a night. Yup. Not horrible. We were expecting that because I got all of the cost info when I called. Then she asks "How much fishing are you going to do?" I was a little surprised at that question. My DH asked how the fishing is right now. " She let us know that no one is catching anything but an occasional catfish and maybe a bass. "OK. That'll be $7 per day per person. And how many kayaks do you have?" Ummm. 1. "That'll be $7 a day to put the kayak in the water." I'm at a NOPE at this point. She just told me there are no fish. The lake is closer to 40 feet down. The place is looking pretty sad and we haven't even gotten to the campground. I told her 1 day fishing for 1 person. We will start at that. The campsite was in the center of a full time residence rv park. No picnic table. No fire pit. Not a single tree to shade the spot from sun up to sun down. Awful looking crowded spots with long time residents. I went right back to the lodge and let her know this was not acceptable. We needed to stay one night because we were both exhausted and needed to rest. She said we could have a full refund minus the one night used. OK. Next morning we were given a hard time about the refund. I told her I would publish photos give details of our experience. We received a refund. Do not stay there. This is really out of line. $345 for the campsite and that doesn't include use of the lake. Who does that? read more

one star If you like dust, noise, music, talking and yelling till 3 in the morning ... this is the place for you. They have strict written rules but they are not enforced. I had a campsite with electricity, but was not told that the electricity was shared with 3 other campsites so I could not run my air conditioner until I was at the site and the air conditioner would trip the circuit. It was 108 degrees!!!! The lake was beautiful the pond was crowded the bath rooms were horrible. If you like staying awake all night book your campsite now!!! This is our second trip to Lake Amador, we had such a blast in August we brought the whole family to celebrate my husbands 50th this past Labor Day. It's always so beautiful and everyone is very welcoming in the lodge . Love the campsites and Danny the security guy and jack of all trades was awesome with keeping everyone in check with late night noise and keeping everyone safe. This is our new camping spot and we look forward to reserving a site at least 2 times next year. Just forgot to ask when it will be open for next year reservations. It's perfect for fishing, kayaking , and swimming. My baby girl Azia caught her very first fish , it was a nice one, the look on her face when she saw it jump out of the water as she reeled it in was priceless. While my family enjoyed our second visit here I doubt we'll ever return. *The women's shower clogged and the water didn't drain. *in the men's shower someone pooped (human not pet). -__- *no trash cans near the site. You have to lug all your garage to the nearest dumpster *the near by cafe serve huge scoops of ice cream for a reasonable price and has AC if you need to escape the heat. The teens working there are so nice! Pro tip Group site M had a tremendous amount of shade. I highly recommend booking that site if you plan on going. The man made swimming lake was the reason we went back. My daughter remembered this fondly and wanted to return. Do not think your smart by camping by the man made lake. The dirt around that site is VERY dry. Any car that drives by will blow up a ton of dust getting all your food, site and area dusty dusty DUSTY. Not fun trust me. 4/29/2023 Zero ratings if I could. The people who work here are incredibly racist. I was meeting up with some family members (we are all Filipino-American) for a day out at the lake and I had my dog with me. She's a 3 year old australian cattle dog and has never had any issues with other dogs/people. She saw a smaller dog and ran up to her (got a little excited and probably wanted to sniff her) and the owners of that small dog overreacted and picked up their dog and walked away. One of the workers saw and immediately started screaming "WHO'S FUCKING DOG IS THAT, I saw it attack that small dog. That small dog didn't even do anything. You better put it back in the car!". We walked away towards the back of the parking lot where my other members had just arrived and we stayed in that area a bit because we were unloading the car. Mind you, there were no other people or dogs near us sine we were at the very back of the parking lot. After a few more minutes, one of the workers came to us and said "your dog already attacked another dog. Either put it in the car or leave. It's a hot day though, so just leave". And we were arguing saying my dog did NOT attack that small dog. She was just trying to sniff her and the small dog was probably just scared. But he didn't want to listen and kept saying "leave or the animal shelter can come and figure it out or I can call the police, up to you". He also kept repeating "does anyone here speak English. Who speaks English????". He was obviously being racist because we were ALL speaking English to him. He then told us to come inside to get a refund because we had already paid for our cars. My mother-in-law and sister in-law went inside to get the refund and the worker proceeds to call the police telling them "these people are refusing to leave". First of all, we weren't refusing to leave, YOU TOLD US TO GO INSIDE FOR A REFUND. We ended up leaving and going to Lake Camanche where the workers were much friendlier and we didn't have any issues at all. No complaints. We had a great time there despite everything. Lake Amador, do better. It's not even about the dog anymore at this point, it's about not being racist and just being a fucking decent human being. I've never felt so angry about an interaction as I did this moment. This is 2023, we shouldn't have to be going through these situations still. It took my family and I over an hour each to drive here. We took 3 separate cars. I live in the Bay Area and it was my first time coming to this general area. I was only meeting up with family who live in the Central Valley and it was also their first time going to this lake. Safe to say we'll probably never be back. Fished there when it was the only place around open during the COVID. Although they were medically cautious, they were otherwise friendly, engaging and helpful. Caught my big fish and was very happy. Their good humor had to be tested, as the porta toilets were closed due to state order and people were pigs and pooping (and garbaging) everywhere. Their enthusiasm made me want to bring my grandson there as soon as I could. The other folks fishing there agreed with me and really treasure the place. Thumbs up! read more

We enjoy the tranquility of the area. Non commercial. Although the drive is only 50 minutes away, it feels remote.

When I first called and made a reservation I was told the first car is free and the rest of the cars would cost 30 dollars a night. The prices on the website are completely different from that. I called a week before my trip to make sure everything was good. When I called they had me booked for the wrong days. The lady who answered was nice and helped me fix it no problem. When I actually got there the lady up front said each car including the first one would cost 40 a night. I asked about the free car and said no all cars will be charged. She gave me a receipt with a bunch of numbers scattered around it. Super confusing to understand. I didn't argue I just went to my campsite to start setting up. I went to the lake and shortly after being there a couple of my friends noticed that they had small leeches on their feet. It was really disgusting. They seem to hangout in the muddy shallow areas. So wear water shoes. read more

Lake amador is in violation of 1910.142 - Temporary labor camps. This camp site should be inspected, why the sites restrooms is dirty flooded etc.. The lagoon with the slide another violation, algae...green and it is nasty! The owner should evaluate the staffs, the camp environment operations needs to be realigned. Want to be Racially Profiled? Discrimanted? Degraded? Price Gauged? Lied too? And Evicted with No Refund?....... CAMP AT LAKE ALMADOR! June 27th-June 30th (Thursday- Sunday) we went on our annual family camping trip. We purchased 4+ camping spots (89, 90, 92, 93) around a cove at Lake Almador. Thursday we got there and was charged more ($300+) on top of our $600 already pre-paid for the four sites. When questioned it we were told call on Monday! Just a way to price gauge and get more money. They also had us pay for a fifth site ( Site 91) and then came over on Friday stating they over booked and we needed to move out of that site and we need to call on Monday for reimbursing - not we made a mistake let us correct it now. Friday we went to the Lounge for Ice. Where the Manager (Cherie) and employees were rude and seemed inconvenienced that they had to stop their conversations to assist us. Friday while the kids were playing in the cove other campers from other campsites (#91 and #104) began to walk through our campsites to get to the water. (We had security (DC is his name) even advise us to tell campers to walk to the water entrance (Between sites 89 & 90) and not through the sites) We ask them to please not walk through our camp and to walk to the water entrance which was one campsite over. Site 91 understood, Site 104 began to cuss at our families, called particular family members the N word, wanted to fight, flat out being belligerent and even pushed my cousin. 2 of the 3 people were DRUNK & underage the age of 21. We de-escalate the situation as fast as possible. We immediately went to the office/lounge to advise of what occurred. They said they would come and have security there in about an hour to an hour in a half. NO ONE EVER CAME! We even called 3 times. When the campers walked by the remainder of Friday and Saturday they would whistle, make comments, yell, just flat out letting us know they were walking by and trying to get us riled up. We ignored them! Saturday morning around 8am security patrol (DC) stopped by our sites and let us know that Friday night there was a noise complaint. We asked how when quiet time is 10pm and we were all in our trailers/tents around 10:30 and it was dead silent in all four of our sites. We let them know that the site right above us (91) however was playing music, night fishing & swimming in the cove, and being loud while drinking and walking through site 90. However we weren't going to file a noise complaint as it's camping and they are making memories. The sheriff even reported when they came by at 11:30 due to a noise complaint all lights were out and no one was around.... Ya we were SLEEPING! Less than an hour after the security patrol left he returns with two sheriffs. They proceeded to let us know we were being evicted due to noise. We of course asked how as we literally haven't been talk to one time since Thursday about a noise complaint till less than an hour ago and it wasn't even us. After about thirty minutes of discussing with the sheriffs and them looking at our tables and didnt see any signs of alcohol or the grounds being thrashed they stated they would call the owner (Sandy Lockhart) and talk to her and return. Not even twenty minutes later the two sheriffs return to state the manager said we had to leave. The sheriffs stated they understood and weren't saying they agreed with the manager and owner but since it is private property they have to enforce their request for us to leave. So we cleaned up and left. I personally went into the lounge with my cousin who is of color, and Cherie (Manager) spoke to me very differently than my cousin. When I went in after being evicted she was very sweet and understanding but when a person of color went into the office she was blunt and rude. After looking through reviews this appears to be a very common issue for the campsite. After we were on our way out I stopped by the office and spoke to CheriI let her know that the sites were cleared and that the situation was not handled properly that there was no prior noise warning and that the noise wasn't us. She flat out said I understand that other campers were in the cove and so the noise was pinned on you guys when it wasn't you. That we can call on Monday to discuss refunds and such. I was very polite when I spoke with her. It clearly was racial profiling and just wanted us out! read more

We camped at Lake Amador June 2024. Management is very rude. We were evicted from our campsite in an unjust manner. They called the Sherif to remove us. Reason being we were too loud. We were a group taking up 4 campsites, all in bed by 10pm. All of us have young children. Our generator was the loudest thing. We tried to explain the campers up the hill was the issue. The Sherif was nice and tried talking to management in our behalf. He agreed we were not the problem by what he saw. Management would not speak to us. Due to private campground the Sherif had no choice but to evict us. I do not recommend staying here. read more

We stayed in site 89, which was a Premium site, this past Memorial Weekend. The site itself was nice - right on the water and access to tie up our friends' boat. However, there is not any kind of water faucet close by for doing dishes/washing hands, etc. The price was great at about $40 a night, I believe. But you get what you pay for! The park is not managed or maintained well. The roads throughout are mostly gravel and when they aren't, they are deeply rutted to the point many cars driving through bottomed-out. From our site, the two nearest bathrooms both sat atop significant hills, which didn't make it easy for last-minute or late night needs. The menfolk mostly didn't find this an issue (if you know what I mean), but it was truly an inconvenience for the ladies. Because of this, our friends put up a portable potty stall in our site, which Security promptly told us to either remove or to keep the door open at all times. Also, over probably the busiest weekend of the year, the staff only refilled the toilet paper in said bathrooms about once a day and the bathrooms ran out more often than they were equipped. The staff never mucked out or hosed down the bathrooms, so there was standing water with soggy toilet paper remains most of the weekend, necessitating we try to hold our clothes out of the grossness when we used the facilities. I get that we're camping and "roughing it", but adequate facilities would sure be nice. I didn't attempt to use the provided showers, but was told they were free and had hot water so that's nice, however I was told some of them had holes in the walls where folks had stuffed paper to avoid peepers. Additionally, while Security seemed very concerned about the pop-up potty stall in our site, when a family took over a picnic site directly next to us, pitched a tent and started a fire WITHOUT A FIRE RING, using collected wood and leaves and LIGHTER FLUID, they thought it sufficient to just drive past for a look and nothing more. We had called it in as concerned campers, but nothing was done other than the drive by. I ran into one of the staff members on my late night hike to the bathroom and questioned him about it. He said they had driven by and that it was actually a campsite, not just a picnic site and that, with the busy weekend, they can only control so much. The next day, the same family asked if they could use the BBQ grill in our site... so it sure seemed fishy for a so-called campsite to not be equipped with either a fire ring or BBQ grill. It does appear that "dry camping" sites were located on the map next to ours, however there is no description given of what is included with those sites. It just seemed suspicious and dangerous to us and no one seemed concerned other than us. All in all, it's hard to give this place a great review. We actually quite enjoyed our campsite, but the rest of the experience was lacking. I'd say definitely make sure you check out your site on the map before committing and bring your own toilet paper! read more

The Friday I called, the gentleman in the office said no problem I will cancel your reservation but please call back Monday because I'm the only one in the office, and said there will be no problem. I called Monday, it rang and no answer. I couldn't keep calling due to work so I called Thursday the 1st and he said I cannot have a refund. Life is hectic and almost forgot to call. But if he were to cancel my reservations the day I called I would have received my refund. Its not MY fault you're short staffed. Absolutely ridiculous. This place really should have multiple locations for review. I visited here only for the RV park which I would rate one and a half stars based on my experience. But the clearly popular fishing opportunities here bring in a separate crowd and they obviously find this place outstanding. So I increased my rating to 3 stars. Lake Amador has a lot of potential as an RV park. I am sure that 50 years ago this place was hopping with people and families all over it. Unfortunately, little has been updated since. In some cases, it appears that it hasn't been maintained since then, either. My family stayed in the RV "area", I will call it, for 2 nights. We were not in the RV hookup area, so I cannot speak for it. From a distance, it appeared crowded with many RVs that had not moved for a long time. We were camping in the no-hookup area which is considerably more spread out and far less crowded. Even though sites were directly adjacent, we could only see one other camper from where we were. The golden child of the visit was actually the dump station. Despite being right next to the fish cleaning station (it offsets the usual smells of RV dumping), the dump station was set up perfectly which I greatly appreciate. Nice area to pull in, proper angle toward the dump. Dump tube at ground level and with a basin around it. Absolute perfection. The location of the site itself was great. Getting to the site after checking in was a major downside. Near the office, fishing parking, and boat launch areas there is relatively new pavement. But, once one ventures off into the camping area, that ends. It was a long slow trip even when coming and going without my trailer in tow. The pavement has been repaired a number of times over the years and now (what is left of it) resembles a cobblestone surface. In many areas, the edges of the pavement have long since broken away. It would be better if it was covered with a layer of gravel, I think. The park was rather difficult to navigate. There is SOME signage and the person at the office did give very good hints with the map. I am glad that we showed up before dark. Getting out was a precarious adventure with my trailer as well due to a curve in the road, on a hill, with an intersection. I went slow and didn't damage anything despite grounding out. I worry about the exit of the Newmar bus that was also out there. I wouldn't come back to Lake Amador by my own planning, but if there was a group of friends that scheduled a campout here, then I would. I don't think I would try the RV area; stick to the no-hookups. read more

It's one way to keep people driving 5 miles per hour with all the bumps and pot holes. The spaces are big and the spacing is adequate from other campers.I will admit that i was unsure about staying here because we have been coming here for years for day fishing and the permanent RV park that is within view of the docks doesn't look inviting. However, if you look beyond that part of the park and drive to the camp sites it will change your mind. Looking forward to visiting again. I will post some pictures of the roads. read more

Spent 3 days camping and fishing with friends. It was a great experience. We stayed at the rv park their are permanent rv spots with rental spots. It was a good mix of older folks and family groups. It was great having kids playing around camp making new friends. A short walk to the water or the swim pond. Plenty of things to do. Very affordable. Worth a try. read more

Facility is decent, people who work here are beyond petty. Not a single person camping and no one is allowed to park in the parking spots. I was told to go to the dumpster to park. I will not be coming back. It's enough we paid 40 dollars to park and fish. read more

First the good: Everyone who works there is super nice, helpful and friendly. Our site #34 was a good size, had a nice fire pit, shade, picnic table and a creek running near that the kids enjoyed exploring. Showers are hot and free which was wonderful. The lake is nice a cool, but not cold. We didn't have any issues with wild animals. Our site was not too close to others and the walk to the bathroom wasn't bad. Plenty of ice to buy onsite to replenish our coolers. The bad: The swimming lagoon, cafe and club house are closed due to covid and it was never mentioned nor did I see it on the website (the store is still open). The lake is nice to swim in if you can get into it. The water is super low and it is very rough terrain to get down into the water. There are lots of discarded fish hooks so watch you step or wear shoes! There is a serious mud hazard at one end where we had a child get very stuck in it up to his thighs. We had a nice trip, I'm not sure I'd come back again. Maybe if the swimming lagoon and cafe/club house open back up. read more

I love this place. Camping isn't overpriced and I've never had trouble getting a spot. Scored the best seat in the house over Memorial Day weekend and I couldn't have been happier! Camping feels safe and everyone is just there having a good, clean time, so great for family! read more

I booked a site for my travel trailer with "full hook-up." The only location available for this was in their "RV Park" area. I should have realized when booking, I was told residents had already occupied the lake edge... When we got there I discovered it was similar to a run down trailer park with broken vehicles that were left in spots and trash lined the lake edge (carpet, furniture, car battery). Lots of barking Chihuahuas and pits. I should have just rented a traditional camp spot which was clean and brought my generators to dry camp. The weather and water were nice. Fishing was tough but they were there. I gave it a 3 because I should have picked up the clue about "residents." (Side note, no issue with the residents, just the trash they left everywhere). read more

Lake Amador is a beautiful resort with friendly employees as well as great customer service. We enjoyed how easy it was to go fishing and how kid friendly this resort was. I recommend that if you want to have the best camping experience do not do full hook ups. The full hook-ups are located in the trailer park and the parking was very tight. The back end of our brand new trailer bottomed out on our way out of the trailer parks dirt road. There were arguments and a lot of yelling we had to listen to in the middle of the night as well as a lot of cars driving in and out at all hours of the night. We ended up exploring the rest of the resort and saw that the other camp areas were better. Dry camping or partial hook ups is the way to go. read more

I would give 10 stars if I could. The staff and owner personally helped us when my buddy came in late during after hours. They went above and beyond helping us. The campsites are great, clean bathrooms and very quiet during this time of the year. It's our 2nd time here, and will be coming back for more! Please give this locally owned resort a try! read more

I've been coming to lake Amadoor since 1993 but last week was my last visit, haven't caught a trout or crappie in years, not even on the dock at nite with lights and live minnows, and in January I counted 77 fisherman and not one fish caught. don't be fooled by the giant Amagold trout pics, they must be one in 100 people catching those, I'm not the best fisherman but far from the worst, as much as the stocking is claimed it's not enough !! read more
