The saying, "you get what you pay for" has come to bite us in the rear I'm sad to admit. The 8 weeks of treatment following his injury was a total joke. We continued to give them the benefit of the doubt at cotwins because they are a genuinely nice staff but we eventually switched to another clinic in fear that his leg was not going to heal properly. He was not splinted professionally over and over again. My husband and I were diligent about wrapping him and splinting him correctly after educating oursleves with various YouTube tutorials - but the staff would wrap it and splint him incorrectly every time. I'm talking the splint would fall off his leg before we would make it home from the clinic. This happened at least 3 separate times before we realized this wasn't our dog's fault this was incompetence on their part. They didn't even size the splints correctly when we had to order new ones - we were told to cut them to size at home with a saw. So we had to research on our own what length the splint needed to be and where it needed to extend to in order to support the joint correctly. Not to mention saw it to size ourselves and sand it down. I guess I prefer a vet who uses their education and knowledge to provide that kind of care and expertise in these situations. We did figure it out ourselves but I think of my older parents and people who might not have the capacity to handle that on their own. On top of that after switching vets I feel like his medication was mismanaged. He needed to be on a better anti inflammatory treatment plan but they dropped the ball on that. Unfortunately we are 3 months post accident and I just left our new vet telling us he'll have arthritis in that joint that is only going to get worse and he will be lame on that foot in time. Of course I'll never know if we could have prevented that entirely but given our experience with cotwins in this situation my recommendation is to go somewhere else!

They do have three different vets; the care is not always consistent, and you may not see the same vet each time. They do make last minute appointments available for emergencies, but be aware that you may be waiting a long time - the first time I waited 2 1/2 hours, and I was unaware that I would be waiting that long. Also, they don't have cell service or internet service, so the wait feels even longer. So, bring a book, bring work, bring a pillow and blanket and take a nap - you will need something to pass the time, even with a regular appointment.

She responded with a diagnosis of some sort of leg complication or disease. Ha? Made no sense to me. She asked me if he was UTD on his shots. I said yes and all of my pups were scheduled for their yearly check-up this Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She immediately stated, 'Ok, when you bring him in, it's $120 for the office visit and the Dr. will want to do x-rays and those 'start' at $650 and they'll want to do several.' Ok. I appreciate the honesty and heads-up but how do 'you' know what's going to be required??? I didn't say anything. She spoke again 'We expect payment in full upon the first visit. Cash or credit. We don't accept any payment plans.' I get that. I responded I'll be bringing him in. She said 'ok'. I drove the 50 min to the clinic. I pulled into a parking spot yet curious as to why the spots were numbered. Understand that UNLESS you back your vehicle into a spot you will not see signage on the building. I approach the door. It's locked. Understandable. The sign says to ring the bell. I did. The receptionist answered and said can I help you? I said yes, I just called about my Morkie and he needs medical attention. She says 'Did you call the number on the sign upon your arrival?' I said what number? She told me to back up into the parking lot and to call the number on the building and she would talk to me from my phone and not the intercom....??? So, holding my dog, I did as she asked and no answer. I went back to the intercom and told her there was no answer. She said I had to have dialed an incorrect number. I pushed my phone up against the glass and the number was correct showing it had been ringing for 1 min and 29 sec. She said 'ma'am, you need to get back into your vehicle and call me from there. I did as she said but very shaken as I was worried about my dog and their concern was ONLY I needed to retreat back to my vehicle. So, I did. I called the number again. This person then asked me about my dogs vaccinations. Has he had 2 or 3? Has he been tested for PARVO? I reiterated AGAIN, he is UTD on all his vaccines and provided her with Richardson's Animal Hospital info. This initial back and forth went on for about 15 min. She said since I couldn't provide proof of his shots and PARVO test results, they would send a tech out to my vehicle and perform the bloodwork and after the results if negative, I could bring him in. I'm leaving out a lot of the nonsense back and forth. I think she was rude. It was at the point where I said that I have driven nearly an hour for them to see my distressed pup and greeted with a borage of all these tests and procedures, that may prove unnecessary, BEFORE I walk thru their door, and her response as she scoffed. 'Ma'am, this is protocol and we have people drive for hours to get here and we have declined them service.' After I agreed to the pre-admission testing, I sat there for a few minutes, started my car and left. It was after having a very lengthy time, waiting in my car, I looked at Stark County Veterinary Emergency Google and BBB reviews, I was confident in my decision based on 2 star rating and multiple similar instances. I decided my best bet was to reach out to Dr. Tim (Richardso's Animal Hospital) first thing in the morning. Update: Morkie is back to normal and I sincerely believe that his grooming day prior and anal gland expression was the issue. He was experiencing some discomfort (normal) and was perfectly fine by the time we got home and back to his normal ornery self this morning. I should have calculated the 2 star review rating against the 54 reviews submitted and driven him further to a more reputable clinic. In the end, all is good.

Do not trust Susan Kaiser. We brought our dog who comes here specifically in to have his teeth…read morelooked at for a cleaning, approx 1 year ago and I asked to have his teeth cleaned. Dr Kaiser assured me his teeth were not even a "grade 1" yet, which means they would not clean them because they aren't dirty... I knew this didn't sound right, but unfortunately I decided to trust our vet, Susan Kaiser. After coming back less than 1 year later, AGAIN asking to have his teeth cleaned, they finally said they would clean them. Coming to find out he now needs 11 teeth pulled. After being told my previous visit was a "general exam" and they don't "look at the teeth too good" I instantly corrected them and showed them my appointment BOTH times were specifically to address the teeth, he was there for nothing else. They apologized, said it will be "told to upper management" or whatever that means? It's a small vet that works out of a converted residential house so I don't really know what upper management they have? This is obviously either gross negligence, or a money grab. I don't know which one is worse. I don't care about the money, I only care that now my dog has to have multiple teeth removed even after I've tried my hardest to clean them myself, and take him to the vet for cleanings (which they highly recommend on posters all over their office, unless you actually ask for it). Dr. Kaiser, what an embarrassment you are. You looked into my dogs mouth and I asked you repeatedly to clean them and you told me he was fine, don't worry about it. Then I come back less than a year later with another doctor, who told me he now needs 11 extractions after a cleaning. Do not bring your animals here. I can only imagine how much worse this negligence could have been if it was for a more serious issue. EDIT: to the owners responde: none of that is true. I asked to have the exam you referenced, and actually the second time I came back I demanded it, instead of listening to your dishonest vet, Dr. Susan Kaiser. The second vet I saw was in shock when I told her Dr. Kaiser didn't elect to do any follow up with the teeth from just an awake exam, after she did an awake exam herself. Just from your response alone it seems you're very well aware of this issue and seems like a practice you aim towards to push surgeries. Disappointing.
